Women red lists

Hello, Gobonobo. I was wondering you like to give your consent for history-merging you red list, User:Gobonobo/Gender Gap red list/Feminists Who Changed America into Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Missing articles by dictionary/Feminists Who Changed America, and User:Gobonobo/Gender Gap red list/North American Women Artists of the Twentieth Century into Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Missing articles by dictionary/North American Women Artists of the 20th Century. (Both those WiR lists were created by copying from your subpage.) What this means is that your subpage would become a redirect to the WiR project subpage. And the original edit history would also be moved there.

The reason I ask this is because it doesn't look good to see two lists with the same content. People could make edits (removing done items, adding a useful comment, etc.) to one of the lists and it won't reflect in the other. It is not proper to have a redundant copy. Since the project is highly active, your redlists are likely to get more attention over there. Thanks. 103.6.159.88 (talk) 13:03, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

Also pinging Rosiestep. 103.6.159.88 (talk) 18:49, 28 February 2017 (UTC)
Keep in mind that the Women in Red redlists will change when volunteers, including me, start removing the bluelinks from our version of the list. Gobonobo may want to preserve all the names and continue adding checkmarks next to the bluelinks on his version. So the lists won't be identical. --Rosiestep (talk) 19:11, 28 February 2017 (UTC)
I can't see a need to merge them if Gobonobo wants to retain separate lists. SarahSV (talk) 21:19, 28 February 2017 (UTC)
@103.6.159.88: I'd like to retain the lists. Having the checkmarks allows me to easily identify which articles have been created recently. gobonobo + c 04:15, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

Technical news

  • A recent query shows that only 16% of administrators on the English Wikipedia have enabled two-factor authentication. If you haven't already enabled it please consider doing so.
  • Cookie blocks should be deployed to the English Wikipedia soon. This will extend the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user after they switch accounts under a new IP.
  • A bot will now automatically place a protection template on protected pages when admins forget to do so.

Your draft article, Draft:Feminist Five

Hello, Gobonobo. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "Feminist Five".

In accordance with our policy that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. CatcherStorm talk 16:22, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

Guideline and policy news

  • Following a discussion on the backlog of unpatrolled files, consensus was found to create a new user right for autopatrolling file uploads. Implementation progress can be tracked on Phabricator.
  • The BLPPROD grandfather clause, which stated that unreferenced biographies of living persons were only eligible for proposed deletion if they were created after March 18, 2010, has been removed following an RfC.
  • An RfC has closed with consensus to allow proposed deletion of files. The implementation process is ongoing.
  • After an unsuccessful proposal to automatically grant IP block exemption, consensus was found to relax the criteria for granting the user right from needing it to wanting it.

Technical news

  • After a recent RfC, moved pages will soon be featured in a queue similar to Special:NewPagesFeed and require patrolling. Moves by administrators, page movers, and autopatrolled editors will be automatically marked as patrolled.
  • Cookie blocks have been deployed. This extends the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user if they switch accounts, even under a new IP.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Chinese Souls No. 2 (Nancy Crow).jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Chinese Souls No. 2 (Nancy Crow).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:32, 14 April 2017 (UTC)

Attention: WikiProject African diaspora participants

Hello fellow project participants. Not sure how many users are still active as normal Wikipedia editors but felt the need to attempt to get a gauge on who can be called on for help with articles falling under the umbrella of the African diaspora project. According to the project's article table there are over six thousand articles related to the African diaspora; there's not a hundred at FA/GA grade and there's over twelve hundred that are unassessed. With Wikipedia being one of the major information reference points in the world today we should consider this unacceptable. Much work needs to be done on the rating of the importance of articles as well. With more communication amongst participants and a dedication to addressing the articles on the to-do list I believe we can make this WikiProject one of the most well organized and thorough on the site. If you are interested in collaborative work with some of your fellow project members, have certain expertise on any particular subjects, ideals on/about the WikiProject, etc. simply drop your name under the "Project revision" section I've created on the project's talk page and state your intentions and main points of interest in our WikiProject and we can attempt to move forward from there. Hoping to hear from everyone soon! WikiGuy86 (talk) 03:46, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
