Although I don't know much about MMA I'd say that that it is a pretty good article, but might I suggest go to My preferences then clicking on Gadgets and checking the box that says refTools as it adds a button to the editing toolbar (the bar right above the editing space that also contains the signature button) that when used completely simplifies that reference adding process by formatting it for you. Don't worry I wasn't sure at first but this is how I found it:

  1. Next to this button: it will appear
  2. Click the button and the choices of Web, News, Book, Journal, Named references, Error check and Cancel will appear
  3. Usually I click News or Named references and with News you will be required to fill in the URL, but all the others are not required but recommended so just fill in as many as apply, the section for Reference name will be explained next
  4. 'Named references only appear when you or another editor types into the Reference name field, you can use anything relevant you want to fill that in
  5. Named references are used to cite multiple things with only one reference (see in use here and here).--Giants27 T/C 20:45, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Told you I would be trouble part VII

ok.

Policy states: Where advancing outside interests is more important to an editor than advancing the aims of Wikipedia, that editor stands in a conflict of interest.

Now, even though I am the NFL editor of a sports website I have ensured that I have not used it as a source or even made mention of it and used other sources.

There is a tag on a recently created page USA:MMA asking for more refences- I can add more, but they would be from an event I attended and wrote about. Since I would NOT be doing it for my website; How can I without someone else thinking it IS a Conflict? Sadly as only 8 members of the media were there and none of thier reports mention the new division.

I have 2 ways to go about it.

Let it get deleted for non references rather than take a chance of destroying the page and weaken Wikipedia as a source.

or

Create another USER ID and fake it- I take that as dishonesty.

Here is the quandry. Say Peter King is on Wiki and finds an error on Brett Favre's page(say wiki states his plane landed at the St Pauls airport and it landed in Milwalkee) , corrects it and uses his own column as the source. Way #1 is way better than #2, #2 can get you blocked for sockpuppetry so don't do that. My advice is don't worry about the tags hundreds of articles have them asking for more or better references (heck more 3/4 of mine do). What I do with that refimprove tags is either I ignore them or I remove them. And yes you can use it unless it's a place like blogspot or bleacher report where anyone can come and write for it, in that case no. But if you have to be hired to write for it (i.e. paid) then you can add it.--Giants27 T/C 22:29, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

From what I can tell though, the CFL draft isn't as big a deal as the NFL draft. The CFL still has a huge crop of American talent that couldn't cut it in the NFL to pick from. The draft hardly seems as important for CFL teams.►Chris NelsonHolla! 02:32, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
First part yes, second part no kind of they can sign some non-NFL talent after the draft (like Tray Blackmon) but all the guys drafted have to have lived in Canada for seven of the first 15 years of their lives. Half must be non-imports so it's pretty important in structuring your rosters. I don't know the comparative importance to the NFL draft though. While it's true that those who can play in the NFL will do so for the pure fact of the far greater salary, for many positions, a different style, sized, or speedy player can be differently valued in the NFL/CFL due to the differing rules and size of the field so be careful not to write off CFL players as "talent that couldn't cut it"; specific talents are valued differently in different games. Well aside from the patterns of former NFL players going to the CFL, I'm also basing my judgment on the remarks of a few CFL players I've spoken to that have told me the talent drop-off from the NFL to the CFL is tremendous. Well there are plenty of quotes from those who have played both who say it's a fallacy. Equally talented athletes with differently balanced skills/size/etc. can be differently valued because of the different game. Football players

Just a quick reminder that we don't want people to be filed directly in "People from (province)" unless it's absolutely unavoidable. A football player should be categorized in "(Province) sportspeople" instead, and if their birthplace is known they should also be categorized in the appropriate "People from (city)" or "People from (county)" subcategory. Malik Jackson

That's pretty weird about Malik's position. I know he's been a rush end before, but he's nowhere near his listed 230 weight, you can tell by looking at him. I'd say he's maybe 200, 210 at the max. I'm not that familiar with Jackson and, of course, he's just trying out for the job, but this is an example of what we were discussing before: The size and skills required in the Canadian game differ from the American one. Hulking, immobile defensive linemen are valuable in the NFL but would be a huge liability in the CFL where they line up a yard away from the scrimmage line, have more field width to cover, multiple offensive players in motion to keep in check, and far fewer running plays to guard. DYK Next update

I notice that you're adding hooks to the queues. As far as I know, people usually look at the history to see if someone else before they start adding hooks to prevent edit conflicts. I was adding to the next update queue and you edit conflicted me. It's especially important with an administrator because we'll usually add the articles to the queue when done. In any case, please finish out the next update and let me know when you're done so I can move it to queue #1. I expect to be here for at least a half hour. Thanks for your help! There's 2 easy ways to deal with Wikipedia time. First, change it so history is converted to local time. Go to your preferences, then click the "Date & time" tab. Click the "Fill in from browser" button and you're done. While you're there, click the "Gadgets" tab all the way to the right. In the "User interface gadgets" section, add a check mark to "Add a clock in the personal toolbar that displays the current time in UTC (which also provides a link to purge the current page)." Now you can easily find the current Wikitime in UTC! Another cool gadget is "refTools, adds a "cite" button to the editing toolbar for quick and easy addition of commonly used citation templates." - it builds references for you! Enjoy! Please add credits to the "Credits" section when you're assembling sets in Next or Next next update. They're in a hidden div for each nomination on T:TDYK. Also, you shouldn't promote your own hook to the queue, especially when it has an outstanding question on it. It's also best to not promote hooks you've verified. Assembling queues

I appreciate the time you've put into preparing sets for DYK. I didn't mention this before because we were very low on verified hooks, but the DYK sets should be balanced and show a diversity of topics from around the world. Specifically, two hooks from the same country (usually the US) should not be next to each other, and two bio-type hooks also should not be next to each other. Thank you for participating in my "RecFA", which passed with a final tally of 153/39/22. There were issues raised regarding my adminship that I intend to cogitate upon, but I am grateful for the very many supportive comments I received and for the efforts of certain editors (Ceoil, Noroton and Lar especially) in responding to some issues. I wish to note how humbled I was when I read Buster7's support comment, although a fair majority gave me great pleasure. I would also note those whose opposes or neutral were based in process concerns and who otherwise commented kindly in regard to my record.
I recognise that the process itself was unusual, and the format was generally considered questionable - and I accept that I was mistaken in my perception of how it would be received - but I am particularly grateful for those whose opposes and neutrals were based in perceptions of how I was not performing to the standards expected of an administrator. Thanks for reviewing it. I pointed out where ALT1 and ALT2 can be found in the article. I guess Bibliography sections aren't normally considered prose, but the way I wrote the article, it really is prose and a significant part of the article. That's probably how/why you missed it the first time around. Are three alternates overkill? I'm puzzled by your statement that the hook is not sourced - this reference clearly says that Primetime bought both cars from champions BAR, and this is a statement from BAR saying they'll be "absent from the racing grid this season".
