Published page for Gerard Barba =[edit]

Hello, This message is for the volunteer editor (thanks) to Gerard Barba's page that was published a while back. We are wondering how much time will it take for the review process and the page to be live/available on Wikipedia. Also, is there anything we need to do to help speed up the process. Thank you very much!

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Gerard Barba requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. creffett (talk) 02:01, 8 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - In response to the message below, I want to verify that I am not being compensated for any publishing of articles or edits. Thank you. GerardBarba (talk) 02:56, 8 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello GerardBarba. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:GerardBarba. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=GerardBarba|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. creffett (talk) 02:02, 8 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion, which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - Frood (talk!) 03:51, 8 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Account access[edit]

At the page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gerard Barba, you stated "Hello, we strongly disagree." Does more than one person have access to this account? --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 04:59, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Drm310, given that under the "Published Page for Gerard Barba" heading there's a different person signing their name, I'm going to go with "probably yes." That's also why I gave a paid editing warning, since I was suspicious that either it was a shared account or someone was being paid to run the account. creffpublic a creffett franchise (talk to the boss) 12:28, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
They still have not disclosed their conflict of interest and/or employer. If they don't, they will be blocked for violating terms of use. Masum Reza📞 12:33, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

September 2019[edit]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, GerardBarba, matches the name of a well-known, living person.

If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You may choose to edit under a new username (see information below), but keep in mind that you are welcome to continue to edit under this username. If you choose to do so, we ask the following:

  1. Please be willing and able to prove your identity to Wikipedia.
  2. Please send an email to info-en@wikimedia.org. Be aware that the volunteer response team that handles email is indeed operated entirely by volunteers, and the reply may not be immediate.

If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:24, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

There is no damage to the user. I asked a friend to help understand this talk page as it is not user friendly for someone who has no software use background. Honestly, event just to communicate with you needs some software expertise. I won't do it again. I think I understand how to use talk now. I need to edit to add citations and other relevant information before the page gets deleted. Thank you.

Decline reason:

You haven't requested a username change and you haven't provided any evidence you've proven your identity. Note once you are unblocked, it will be inappropriate for you to write about Gerard Barba; to understand why, see WP:COI and WP:PROMO. Yamla (talk) 15:36, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

What kind of proof of identity do you need?

Decline reason:

This is not an unblock request. Please follow the instructions above if you wish to prove your identity. They will be happy to provide you instructions on how to prove your identity. Reminder: you still won't be unblocked to write about yourself, and will need to address this in your unblock request after you have proved your identity. Wikipedia is unusual in this respect. It's nothing personal, it's just that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a business directory; see WP:NOT. Yamla (talk) 15:40, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
