ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Gemsweater1. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

Hello, Gemsweater1. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Gem Sweater (song), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Onel5969 TT me 18:23, 9 December 2016 (UTC)

Lost In Your Light (song)

Why did you create Lost In Your Light (song) at that title? Lost in Your Light, the namespace with proper capitalisation (per MOS:CT), already existed as a redirect. If you want to create an article, please search in future to see if a redirect for that song does not already exist, otherwise it appears you are deliberately avoiding creating content at a redirect someone else created and making move tasks for administrators in the process (as the page you created will now have to be moved to the proper namespace, as where you created it is unnecessary disambiguation—there is no need for the "(song)" on the end). As I said, please search in future to see if a redirect for a song article you want to create already exists, then create your content over the top of the redirect. Thank you. Disambiguation link notification for April 28

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Lost In Your Light (song), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Digital download. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:06, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

The article Goldpants (EP) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable, no evidence of notability – hard to believe a record that sold 21 copies is notable by any of our criteria.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Non-free image use

Hi Gemsweater1. The licensing of each image you see on Wikipedia is determined by it copyright status and not every image file you see on Wikipedia is licensed the same. Some files are licensed as public domain or licensed under a free licensed suitable for Wikipedia and these are often collectively referred to as "free images". Other files are licensed as non-free content because of their copyright status and these file are commonly referred to as "non-free images". Non-free image use is highly restricted and each use of such an an image must satisfy Wikipedia's non-free image use policy. One of these restrctions is WP:NFCC#9, which says that non-free content can only be used in the article namespace. Non-free content cannot be used (i.e., displayed) in the user namespace as explained in WP:UP#Non-free files, which is why I have removed an album cover image from your userpage. This is not the first time non-free content has been removed from your userpage and I am not the only editor to have done so. Perhaps you didn't notice the edit sums left the other times, so I'm posting here in more detail. Please do not add any more copyrighted album covers or other images to your user page. It's Ok to make a mistake once or maybe even twice, but if you keep adding this type of image to your userpage, an administrator will be asked to get involved. If you have any more questions about this, you can ask me here or ask others for help at WP:MCQ or WT:NFCC. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:53, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Citing repeated sources

Hi. When you are citing the same source more than once, you should name the footnote in the first instance it appears and invoke the same footnote thereafter per the instructions here: WP:REFNAME. Otherwise you get the same references listed multiple times in the reference list as was the case in Wonder Woman (JoJo song). Please have a look at this revision I made in your article to see how this can be done. Thanks. Bennv3771 (talk) 12:46, 15 July 2017 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:PhoebeRyanPerforming2016.png

Thanks for uploading File:PhoebeRyanPerforming2016.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Train2104 (t • c) 23:48, 23 October 2017 (UTC)

Checking the sources you use

Hi. I've recently gone through the articles you created for Phoebe Ryan's singles and EPs. You've used quite a few unreliable blogs, like Vents Magazine and things clearly hosted on Wordpress. If the website uses a stock template or clearly says at the bottom, "powered by Wordpress", it is not fit for inclusion on Wikipedia. An even better vetting process is if the writer(s) listed on the website (either the article itself, "about us" or "contact" pages) have no credentials, it's probably best to leave it out. Same goes for if they are merely "music enthusiasts" running a blog or students of a university newspaper that is hosted online. If there is not enough independent and reliable secondary sources to include on the article, perhaps it is not notable enough (WP:NALBUMS). Also, please stop relying on using Discogs. It is not reliable per WP:ALBUMAVOID due to being user-generated (WP:USERGEN)—you appear to still be using it on the article Gold Pants. Thanks. Ss112 15:19, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:13, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi!

Hi! We'll encounter more often since I'm working on bringing Hanna's music articles to GA status. So here's me saying hello. Greetings! Cartoon network freak (talk) 08:15, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

Greetings to you as well! Thank you! Gemsweater1 (talk) 19:51, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi again! Regarding the "Monster" articles, everything unreliable has been removed now and we still have a quite lengthy article left. Even if we also removed PopBuzz (which is reliable) we still would have the same article as it's just a back-up for the MTV source. I do think that the article's page is to be kept. Cartoon network freak (talk) 00:13, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi there! Just looked at the page and it appears I was wrong, the article is still quite adequate. My apologies! Glad the sources got sorted out and the article turned out well! Gemsweater1 (talk) 00:17, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
I nominated "Honestly" and "Monster" for GA status. They should be promoted since they use the same formats I used for my past GAs. I'll soon commence work on "Out Loud" (yay!). I just ranomly dicovered Gabbie as her "Honestly" video appeared on my reccomendations. Also, I wanted you to ask one question: is an article needed for "Sattelite"? I just can't find any source for that song, can you? What's your opinion on that? Cartoon network freak (talk) 00:23, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
Glad to hear about the status of the articles for “Out Loud”, “Honestly”, and “Monster”! As for “Satellite”, I don’t think it needs its own page. I also searched for sources and I couldn’t find any either. As far as I know, none exist. There is a possibility that could change once she releases her album, but for the time being, it lacks sufficient coverage for its own article. Gemsweater1 (talk) 00:42, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
