Picture listed for deletion[edit]

Hi. I don't understand why this picture is listed for deletion. I made this picture myself and I stated that. I've not much knowledge how to do it. Is there something that you can do to help me to keep that picture and put it back where it belongs?: Rodolfo Valentinarticle. Your help is very much appreciate! --justice all the way 14:39, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry, the picture listed for deletion is: Image:PRINCESS_YASMIN_AGA_KHAN.jpg --justice all the way 14:40, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you GAY !, I've added the information about the who is the people in the picture. I hope it clears the issue!. The reason why I wanted to add this picture in Rodolfo Valentin article is because these people are very closed related to Rodolfo, as a friends, clients and sharing charities organizations. Rodolfo Valentin is also a supporter of the Princess Yasmin Aga Khan ( on the picture) of the Alzheimer’s foundation, created by the Princess in memory of her mother the actress Rita Hayworth that died from that devastating disease. Please let me know if you agree with me in adding that pic on Rodolfo Valentin article. Best regards, and thanks again! --justice all the way 15:32, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PDFs listed for deletion[edit]

You have listed several .pdf files for deletion that I created from my own original research as annotations to several files ... I don't understand why you are marking them for deletion. Verifiable —Preceding unsigned comment added by Verifiable (talkcontribs)

Orphaned fair use image? Wha'?![edit]

Hi,

You left the following on my Talk page, along with several others like it:

Thanks for uploading Image:CFS_7.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. User:Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr) 14:10, 20 March 2007 (UTC) ---

I don't understand! The album cover has been around for 30 years. It now can be found everywhere on the internet, particularly at music sales sites, music databases, fan pages, etc. I thought that it was a Fair Use image since it is a cover, although I may have added that Mercury Records owned the copyright to image, although I don't think that the company is monitoring educational sites like this for infringement. I was just giving the company its credit. In addition, I designed the cover so I had that info at hand. Did I mess up by saying too much?

I am always contacting your Help people and just about anyone else that I can find here (which is NOT easy - most of the Administrators and Editors listed are "No longer available"!). I asked for help before I submit and then I ask that they review it afterwards to make sure that I'm not violating any of the site's policies, which are very vague and/or outright confusing for people like myself who are great writers but have not been initiated in how to fit in here.

After much time and effort,I did find ONE Administrator who responded in a timely, to explained in ONE email what I have been trying to understand for over a year. I knew that I was that stupid!  :-)

Thank you for your time and cooperation in this matter.

Re wiki_ta.png image[edit]

Thanks for the message you left in my talk page. Infact this image was created in the early days of Tamil language Wikipedia and it has been changed later. It is not needed now. As I am not an administrator in English Wiki, I cannot delete it. Please delete it. Thanks. Mayooranathan 03:00, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures for deletion--please do![edit]

Hello. You tagged my pictures Image:Ikata_windmills.jpg and Image:Ikata Nuclear Power Plant.jpg for deletion. Please do, immediately! They're duplicates of ones I have in the Commons. I tagged them as such, but they still haven't been deleted yet. Amake 04:39, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Hello Gay CDN, I received your message regarding a proposed deletion of Image:Barry-Palmer_1960.jpg. This photo is historical and pivotal of the hang gliding history as it was the first manned flight on a Rogallo-type glider. I'd like to know what the issue is and address it appropriately. Thank you, BatteryIncluded

I have few doubts about usage of Local Language between English, like few quotes in my native language and keeping the rest in english and only the quotes in other language. Could you please help me.

Hi Gay Cdn, this is the same photo that I uploaded in Commons as Guadalupe Bogota (there are more information in that image), this is about the church of Guadalupe mountain in Bogota (Colombia), but actually it is not used anymore in the English Wikipedia. Please explain to me how and when an administrator will decide whether to delete or to keep an image marked for Ifd[edit]

Please explain to me when an administrator will decide whether an image marked for Ifd is to be deleted or kept. After the 5 day wait for debating or voting, how long after that is the decision made? And where is that decision given or announced? I note the you have contributed a number of edits to the "Old discussion" section of the Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion which you have summarized as, for example, add May 23. Does that mean that a decision has been made? Or what? If it means that a decision has been made, where can I see the actual decision? I would really like to learn more about how this works. Would you please reply on my Talk page? Thanks in advance, - mbeychok 03:35, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that this image (see [1]) was not orphan before: Jacket lapel (before I edited it today) pointed to it by the [[:Image:Aa_boilersuit_lapels.jpg]] format, which shows merely a blue link thus: Image:Aa_boilersuit_lapels.jpg, which must be clicked to see the image. Re: Orphaned non-free image (Image:AffirmationSG.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for the comment on my discussion page, I went back and re-added the image to the article it was originally a part of. Someone commented there that they felt the image was a "bad fair use" as to why they removed it from the article but I thought album/single covers were considered fair use? If you know where I can find specific clarification about those kinds of images, that would be great. Sunhawk 03:38, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please Delete This Image[edit]

Hi Gay Cdn,

Can you please get this image ([2]) up for deletion? It is highly distasteful, unencyclopedic, the sole contribution of the user, and links to nothing. Thanks, --MosheA 20:12, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Image Deletion[edit]

That's no problem at all. After I left you a message, I had realized that it was Putin's caricature that was tagged, not the page. I was just a bit worried because the message from the bot said that my page was tagged, not the picture. But it's all good. No problem.

NOT an Orphan Image (Image:Maddie_&_London's_Suite_16.jpg)[edit]

The image you tagged as an orphan(Image:Maddie_&_London's_Suite_16.jpg) still isn't. It's attached to an article that some fools keep deleting for no reason. ---- DanTD 12:25, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding IFD Comment[edit]

Regarding the comment left at IFD: I don't think she even realises how many images she has. There are several that are orphaned, and the others are unencyclopedic and just waste space on Wikipedia. I also question her meatpuppetry. Seicer (talk) (contribs) 01:54, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting images[edit]

Thanks for keeping Wikipedia clean. I was in China for a long time in the past months (no Wikipedia access) and I am on vacation now so I haven't been looking at wikipedia that often. I seem to be 'absent' as u said. But I do observe and follow the rules of uploading and the logos made are made by myself and not non-free.

anyway thanks I will do better to clean up after myself!Jingshen 01:43, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia screenshots[edit]

But also within that discussion Christopher Parham said that "Except for the Wikipedia logo, everything is under one free license or another. As I understand it the logo can be used more or less freely within Wikipedia, but reuse and derivative works of it are limited. Images that don't contain the logo are free." I didn't remove the {{CopyrightByWikimedia}} tag; however, it does not mean that the Foundation has to ask permission to itself to display the picture.

While I don't particularly care about that image, I will object to its deletion until there is clear, unambiguous guidelines as to what to do with all Wikimedia logos within Wikipedia. We do not say that the commons logo is fair use when we plaster it on articles with {{commons}}. We do not sue other sister projects when they use a sister project template to link to Wikipedia. So, where does that leave the Wikipedia logo in the grand scheme of things? Right now, there is no clear assertion as to what to do with any Wikipedia screenshots, when the template they use gives a clear impression that it is a dual GPL/GFDL free hybrid. Titoxd(?!? - cool stuff) 22:17, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't mind an IFD, but there are issues that go beyond one particular image, and those are my primary concern. Thanks for the pointer, though. Titoxd(?!? - cool stuff) 23:03, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, it's there. Hopefully it won't be like a tree falling in the middle of the forest, and someone notices the debate. Titoxd(?!? - cool stuff) 23:29, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

June Anderson images[edit]

I got your notes regarding the following images: Image:June_semiramide.jpg , Image:Anderson_daphne.jpg , and Image:June_la_fille.jpg. They were not originally orphaned but were used on the June Anderson article. Someone removed them because they were of the opinion that they somehow violated fair use policy, although my understanding had previously been that album covers, etc. were permitted for illustrative purposes. Do you happen to know? I'm more than happy to un-orphan them by adding them back to the article. NickInBigD (Hey!) 00:47, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Finding orphaned images[edit]

Wow, how do you find all of those orphaned images to list for deletion? Is there some obscure category somewhere, or do you have to painstakingly track them down one-by-one? I'm something of a deletionist myself, so I'd like to help out a little, but I have no clue how to find orphaned images en masse like you do! --Icarus (Hi!) 03:56, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
