Doctor Who (series 8)

This series (being made in 2014) of Doctor Who is being made on video and not on film. There is a distinction. For a series that has so far employed both methods extensively, it is important to make that distinction. For someone to report that "Filming has begun on the new series" is simply inaccurate.

Worse than that, to revert an edit that corrects this to "Recording" is nonsensical, especially when done with some such justification as "oh well it's a euphemism for recording". No it isn't. It's at best what lazy or uninformed people use to refer to the process when they either don't know the difference or don't think the distinction is important. Even if an edit changing "filming" to "recording" is seen as nit-picky or pedantic, to change it back is just increasing the inaccuracy for no benefit. Please desist. Explaining

Original question can be found here.

I patrolled your page. I went through the enormously-backlogged list of newly-created pages and confirmed that your page was okay: not spam, not an attack page, not a copyright violation, not any of the other reasons for which I would delete someone's page without asking. Then I clicked "patrolled" to remove it from the list of "pages that have not yet been patrolled", and moved on to the next entry. That's all. DS (talk) 01:47, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

List of Doctor Who universe creatures and aliens (Q–Z)

Hi the reason for the redirection was so that when on these articles
Warriors of Kudlak
The White Wolf
Wraith World
clicking Uvodni would bring you to the right section, if the reader is not familiar with this creature then this would surely help. Thanks Kelvin 101 (talk) 22:29, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

I declined the speedy deletion of this article because it wasn't obviously a hoax to me. (I also moved the article to the more appropriate title Kamie Jimmie King.) It's possible that the subject (who is apparently also the author) is a notable media personality in his home country. It is also possible that he is a non-notable media personality there. If you believe the article merits deletion, I recommend taking it to WP:AFD instead. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 03:07, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Q3/Q4 & "Northern Autumn"

Hi, I saw your edit commentary for List of Doctor Who serials, dated March 5th, 2014. Q3 and Q4 stand for the third and fourth quarter of the year. "Norther autumn" stands for the months of autumn in the northern hemisphere (September - November), indicating the difference with the "southern autumn" (March - May). So it was not vandalism. :) Bubbly (talk) 01:39, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you restored a warning on Citytechcommunications' talk page, with an admonishment that they shouldn't blank their own talk page. That isn't really necessary, as talk page guidelines say that users are allowed to remove warnings from their talk pages, since the warnings are still visible in the page history. Removing a warning is proof that the user has read it, which is all we really require of a warned user. Novusuna talk 22:43, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Edit War Warning

May I ask why you chose to report me, rather than continue the discussion on the article? If you had simply discussed the issue on the discussion page, as well as following official Wikipedia Policy, then there would be no problem. 41.132.179.212 (talk) 19:12, 15 March 2014 (UTC)

Please read the sections WP:V and WP:RS. You stated that you know what "RS" means. But clearly you have not read it properly, just as you haven;t actually read the article that you keep blanket-reverting, reinstating material that does not pass WP:RS. 41.132.49.185 (talk) 15:28, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

41.132.49.185, if I wanted to read the RS article, I could easily do so by clicking on one of the many, many other links to the page that you constantly provide. G S Palmer (talk) 00:09, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

Edit warring caution

I see that you have now reached three reverts on Whoniverse and want to caution you not to revert again. Doing so will almost certainly lead to a WP:BLOCK. Even if you feel the article is in the "wrong version", you are better served by entering discussion with uninvolved contributors. The IP with whom you are edit-warring has filed a report at Wikipedia:No original research/Noticeboard#Whoniverse - I would recommend you engage there and attempt to reach a clear consensus before editing further. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:59, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:06, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

You have once again reached three reverts on Whoniverse. The IP has again been blocked for edit warring. If you don't want to follow, please do not revert again. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:40, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

Removing tags and templates, removing RS

Please do not remove tags and templates from articles without first discussing it on the talk page, and coming to an agreement with other users. Those tags and templates are there for a reason. It is not your place to just remove them. It is considered vandalism.

Please do not remove Reliably Sourced sections from articles. It is considered vandalism. 41.132.48.255 (talk) 14:22, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia Criticism

"Under Wikipedia's neutral point of view (NPOV) policy, articles must present differing viewpoints on the subject matter fairly, proportionately, and without bias. Articles should include both positive and negative viewpoints from reliable sources, without giving undue weight to particular viewpoints, either negative or positive. The policy of verifiability requires attributing all viewpoints to reliable, published sources, with appropriate citations. Wikipedia's policy against original research, in addition to the NPOV requirement, forbids editors from favoring their own point of view."

And "Editors should avoid having a separate section in an article devoted to criticism, controversies, or the like because these sections call undue attention to negative viewpoints. Instead, articles should present positive and negative viewpoints from reliable sources together, fairly, proportionately, and without bias." means it should be moved into the main body of text. 41.132.48.255 (talk) 04:30, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Just a reminder

If you nominate something for AfD, it is customary to tell people who have made edits on the article about its status. Otherwise they may never know. I have left messages on their discussion pages. 41.132.48.255 (talk) 06:02, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Canvassing

Hi. You are relatively new here and may not be aware yet, but edits like this constitute canvassing and are an issue in content disputes on Wikipedia. I understand that disputes like the one you are in are frustrating - we've all been there - and I appreciate that you reached out instead of reverting again, but outreach has to be kept within the bounds of that guideline. I'm sorry that you guys have not received any response from the WP:NPOVN report the IP filed. Perhaps you should consider putting together a concise summary of the dispute (I'd focus on content and not behavioral concerns) and trying a WP:RFC. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:15, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Please see my reply here. G S Palmer (talk) 13:21, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
I did, and have replied there. Notifications must be neutral - your notice to him is not neutral. A note saying, "We could use your input on a disgreement here" is fine, but you cannot seem to be predisposing him to sharing your perspective. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:24, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Kistler

IP 41 disagrees with what you think Kistler says about the inclusivity of spin off media within the whoniverse. What specifically does Kistler say on page 224? Does he use the word "whoniverse" or just say that they all occupy the same universe? No need to give a full reproduction of the text. GraemeLeggett (talk) 11:43, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

On page 224 he has a section titled "Expanding Whoniverse" where he talks about the Whoniverse expanding to include the comic strips in Doctor Who Magazine, among other things such as tie-in novels and the Big Finish audios. G S Palmer (talk) 14:10, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Alfred Niepieklo

A cursory google search would tell you that Alfred Niepieklo is notable. Even if an article looks rough in the beginning, please perform a google search to see if the article is notable before adding a speedy tag. Thanks. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 19:16, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: KFC in South Africa

Hello G S Palmer. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of KFC in South Africa, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Largest fast food chain in South Africa is a credible indication of importance. Thank you. kelapstick(bainuu) 22:38, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

That's fine. But the article could easily be merged with the main article. G S Palmer (talk) 22:40, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
I absolutely agree, and was going to suggest just that. --kelapstick(bainuu) 23:02, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
kelapstick, I just wanted to point out that User:Farrtj, the editor who created the article, has a long history of trying to spin various sections of the KFC page off into their own individual articles. I would like to suggest that all of their articles be scrutinized for possible merging back into the main article. Their articles include: KFC in South Africa, List of countries with KFC franchises, KFC in Japan, KFC advertising, History of KFC, KFC Original Recipe, and KFC in China. Marking pages as patrolled

Information icon Hi. Thank you for your help with the vital work of patrolling new pages. I noticed that you are not marking some of the pages you've reviewed as patrolled. Please do remember to click the 'mark this page as patrolled' link at the bottom of the new page if you have performed the standard patrolling tasks. Where appropriate, doing so saves time and work by informing fellow patrollers of your review of the page, so that they do not duplicate efforts. Thanks again for volunteering your time at the new pages patrol project. Kolbasz (talk) 15:02, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

@Kolbasz: does that include articles which I have tagged for speedy deletion? I'm just curious. G S Palmer (talk) 15:15, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
It does; those were the ones I came across. But I see now that the new pages patrol page is less than entirely clear on that point... :) Kolbasz (talk) 15:42, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

Hello friend

I'm currently on a von Brauchitsch family spree right now. :) Jonas Vinther (talk) 19:07, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

I noticed. Keep up the good work! G S Palmer (talk) 19:08, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
Thank you. The family of von Brauchitsch has a long history of military service, some of them date back to the Napoleonic wars. "Geni" has a very good section for the entire family with small bio's. Jonas Vinther (talk) 19:12, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

வருவாய் மேலாண்மை

Hello, I've removed the G3 speedy deletion tag you placed on வருவாய் மேலாண்மை, because the article doesn't appear to be vandalism. It's an untranslated article copied verbatim from Tamil Wikipedia, however, so I've tagged it for deletion with A2, as a foreign article. You might like to have a read of WP:CSD for more information on speedy deletion criteria. Thanks, Ruby Murray 19:42, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

Yes, I realized after the fact that I probably should have used A2. Thanks anyway! G S Palmer (talk) 19:45, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion decline

Hey! Nice job with the recent page patrolling. Just a heads up that I contested and removed your speedy deletion nomination of Sons of Neptune under G3 criteria. Might not be a notable group, but it does appear legitimate through various online sources. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 04:43, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

@SuperHamster: should I tag it for notability, or just leave it as is and let someone else work it out? G S Palmer (talk) 04:48, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
I'm not sure about the notability of subject, but I'll work on cleaning it up a bit. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 04:53, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Sons of Neptune, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page British (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). It is the same as other competitors of ours: Alepo, Elitecore, Amdocs, Allot, AudioCodes If they are allowed, and our page is less commercial then their.

Why aren't you dealing with them? why Aradial is different? We are a company from 1997, not a new a one that is spamming take a look before you judge!

Oe2k, if you want to create an article about your company, please first read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies), and lastly Wikipedia:Other stuff exists, the link to which was already provided on your talk page. If you can craft an article which fits all those guidelines, then Wikipedia will be happy to accept it. Good luck! G S Palmer (talk) 18:42, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

I think it fits: Can you tell me the difference between my page and Alepo? or EliteCore? what I did wrong? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oe2k (talkcontribs) 18:46, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Well, for one thing, Oe2k, at least two of those articles are tagged for problems, (Elitecore Technologies and Amdocs). What your article really needs is more secondary sources so that it relies less on primary ones. Secondary sources are the best way to assess/demonstrate a subject's notability. What I would suggest is that you userify the article, (possibly in your sandbox), until you've got the problems worked out of it. What would serve you best would be to trim the article down and remove the short, choppy paragraphs, and also to work the references into the main body of the text. Once all that is done, the article will stand a better chance. G S Palmer (talk) 19:06, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
Also, it might be good to get into the habit of signing your posts on talk pages by using four Tildes. (~~~~). G S Palmer (talk) 19:15, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

The article List of awards and nominations received by miranda lambert has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Completely redundant to Miranda Lambert#Awards. Merge and delete.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I would be grateful if you could review your decision to delete Roy Bowyer-Yin. He was a notable person, notable for his services to introducing choral music and various religious festivals to Sri Lanka. My understanding from A7 is that "it is irrelevant whether the claim of notability within the article is not sufficient for the notability guidelines. If the claim is credible, the A7 tag can not be applied. Often what seems non-notable to a new page patroller is shown to be notable in a deletion discussion." It seems to have been deleted without even considering anything said in support or in discussion. I would be grateful f the discussion in its talk page could be considered.Fattutor (talk) 15:53, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Standard of living of women in the colonial united states. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Colonial_history_of_the_United_States#Women.27s_roles. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Colonial_history_of_the_United_States#Women.27s_roles – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Tutelary (talk) 23:03, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

@Tutelary: I didn't create that article, I merely moved it to Standard of living for women in the colonial United States. If you want the article deleted, I would suggest that you tag that article also. G S Palmer (talk) 23:07, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

I have unreviewed a page you curated

Thanks for reviewing Solve quintic equation in general form, G S Palmer.

Unfortunately Altamel has just gone over this page again and unreviewed it. Their note is:

This article doesn't qualify as patent nonsense under CSD G1, it's probably closer violating WP:NOTHOWTO, in which case PROD would be appropriate, or it may be a replication of existing WP content (which I'm checking), if so, CSD A10 or merge.

To reply, leave a comment on Altamel's talk page.

Sorry about the slow reply: it was my time to turn in for the night. I revisited the page, and I'm glad to report that I can give it a clean bill of health! :) The problem when I first saw it was that one of the refs was formatted incorrectly, so all the text beyond it didn't show. (See this early revision.) So it was my mistake to CSD it. Keep up the good work! G S Palmer (talk) 11:25, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

My contributed article, List of Journey Characters

Hello G S Palmer. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of my article. I believe my article should not be speedily deleted. My article is not just about Journey to the center of the Earth it is also about Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. This page is a list of characters from both films. I am aware that the Journey to the Center of the Earth and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island articles talk about the cast, but this article that I have created will give people some background info on both the Journey and Journey 2 characters. The other articles don't give that much info on the characters. I just need time to finish.) Tejanorules (talk) 00:34, 7 May 2014 (UTC)--Tejanorules (talk) 00:18, 7 May 2014 (UTC) Tejanorules

Whoa....

You've got my page tagged for Speedy Deletion - Speedy deletion nomination of Atsme/EditCounterOptIn.js That's a subpage needed for the counter. Why do you want to delete it? And I couldn't find a button to protest the speedy delete per your instructions. AtsmeWills talk 19:06, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

See my note at User talk:Atsme. Thanks, Matty.007 19:14, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Yes I admit to using more than one account

I was banned from wikipedia a few years and I also moved a few times. I'm told not to do this again. Please don;t be angry. Venustar84 (talk) 01:14, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Venustar84, I'm not angry; since I haven't interacted with you before I have tried to remain neutral in this investigation. I do have a question though: are their any other accounts that you've used over the years other than those mentioned at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Neptunekh? G S Palmer (talk) 15:46, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Yes and probably more than I can remember I used the account neptunekh2. I have mental health issues and I want to stick to this account so it won't confuse people. Venustar84 (talk) 16:53, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: List of Journey Characters

Hello G S Palmer. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of List of Journey Characters, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: It definitely expands on the other article, which is essentially just a list of names. That being said, I don't think this should be here, but there isn't really a speedy category for it. It needs to be taken to AfD I think. . Thank you. GedUK  12:32, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your help!

I wanted to say thanks to you G S Palmer, for the work you did in fixing up the new article on the pearl oyster Pinctada margaritifera. That was very helpful. I also fixed it up a bit more and it looks pretty good now. I am a member of WikiProject Bivalves, and so I really appreciate anyone who helps make a bivalve article better. Best wishes to you, Invertzoo (talk) 13:28, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

I apologize that I did not see your PROD at first while I submitted the article for deletion discussion, which overrode the proposed deletion request, and thus did not provide a reason in the summary. Still, I believe that the IMDb links count as sources. Not very good sources, I admit, but PROD requires zero sources or that all sources given are obviously unreliable. M. Caecilius (talk) 01:24, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for telling me; now I can contribute to the discussion. G S Palmer (talk) 01:30, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Family tree

Do you understand English? I've said this is not related to the Family tree of a bible but it is a family tree what the Bagrationi dynasty claims it as its descent. It is just a theory of its descent of this dynasty. Jaqeli (talk) 16:03, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Jaqeli, please remain WP:CIVIL. It appears to be an almost exact copy of Family tree of the Bible, and if it is just a theory, it almost certainly fails to meet WP:NOTE. Maybe you should add a section to the Bagrationi dynasty article instead. G S Palmer (talk) 16:09, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
It includes names which are not in a family tree of a bible. It is a historical family tree that the Georgian royalty of the Bagrationi dynasty claimed from Adam. This is in no way a family tree of a bible and names in the very end are different and they are presented only in the Georgian Chronicles. I think you misunderstood about the word family tree there. I should have named it in another way and I've updated it to its correct form. Jaqeli (talk) 16:13, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
I really don't think that this subject warrants a separate page of its own, especially since it is just a theory, as you yourself stated. However, that being said, you should definitely write a lead section for it instead of just making it be a list of names. G S Palmer (talk) 16:17, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
I have taken it to AfD: please feel free to oppose its deletion there. G S Palmer (talk) 16:27, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Hey why did You delete my Posts on that wilby thing.

Why did you do that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.9.168.249 (talk) 13:17, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for what (I presume) is a compliment. In response to your question though, you're going to have to be a little bit more clear. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "moderator". I don't have any special user-rights beyond being auto-confirmed. G S Palmer (talk) 21:42, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

Why do you do what you do on here, what is your occupation? are you a reddit neckbeard? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.9.168.249 (talk) 22:10, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
