Welcome![edit]

Hi, I noticed you added an episode listing to Trigun, however you may not have noticed we already have one linked under the Trigun#Anime section: See also Trigun anime episode list.

In coming to tell you that, I notice you have a big image from kiminozo on your user page. Wikipedia is very fussy about copyright - as this image is clearly (labeled at bottom) as copyright of Studio Fantasia and Key, and does not fall under fair use when displayed on a page unrelated to either, it might be best to delete it. Maybe you can draw a picture yourself to replace it! See Wikipedia:Image use policy for more information.

Oh, and have a generic Template:Welcome just in case you need pointers on anything else wikipedia related. --zippedmartin 17:00, 25 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

First of all thanks for the welcome and for your correction in trigun article.

Obviously I didn't noticed that. ;)
You should add a separate section for the episodes as you did for the characters. People may not notice the link.
The pic clearly states that KGNE characters are copyrights of Studio Fantasia. The creator of KGNE and not the creator of the wallpaper. So if it's illegal to have this pic in my user page, then it's illegal to have the Trigun pics in the Trigun section. Keep in mind that many anime, manga, movie pics in Wikipedia are taken directly from the source (DVD, manga). For example:

Obviously, it's not illegal. Company wont sue you for this, because obviously with that way you promote it's product.
It doesn't mention anywhere about a company named Key. On the other hand it mention the name Kev (not Key). This is the creator of the wallpaper. If you visit the web site that is mentioned in the bottom of the wallpaper [1], you will notice that the web site doesn't mention anywhere that it doesn't allow the use of these pics in any other web pages as other similar web sites mention. Obviously this pic is tagged as "PD" and I have the right to use it as I wish.
I'm not the only one that uses unrelated pics in his/her user page. I have seen many admins pages with unrelated pics. So I think they don't mind to use this pic in my user page.
GR_MANOS 20:34, 25 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Trigun article does indeed still need a fair bit of work to make it comfortably readable, I'm kinda doing it at a rate of about a sentence a week. :)
Eh, I did misread that notice - if I'd looked it up I'd have seen the kiminozo h game was by Age not Key. Needless to say, 'Kev' has no grounds for copyrighting his wholley derivative work, so that notice is basically irrelevant. Now while of course he's not going to get sued for making it, that alone does not mean it's legal - something which wikipedia has to be fussy about. If you click that Trigun image you'll see it has the {{fairuse}} tag, giving the following notice:
Copyright undetermined This work is copyrighted. The individual who uploaded this work and first used it in an article, and subsequent persons who place it into articles assert that this qualifies as fair use of the material under United States copyright law.
Every image uploaded to wikipedia should have a message like that that describes the copyright - those without may be deleted without warning. Now, if we look at what that fair use page says, particularly the stuff like "nonprofit educational purposes" - which is generally taken to include book covers displayed for the purpose of illustrating an article, but not a (modified) design just for decoration of a user page. It's fun I know, and in practice of course no one is going to be in court over it, but the policy is reasonably clear. Anyway, just a prior warning so you understand what it's about. --zippedmartin 01:00, 26 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Manos, I see that you are interested in the Ancient Greek languge. Maybe you could help us out here. We have a big discussion on the phonology of Ancient Greek, in particular the Attic dialect spoken by Plato, Aristotle etc. You can join the discussion if you wish at Talk:Ancient Greek phonology. However, the main reason that I am approaching you is to ask you if you could help us out in citing some sources. Because many of us live outside Greece, we cannot get hold of the following books:

and any other Greek sources on the phonology of the Attic dialect. Also: do you still have your high school text book? Does it say anything about the pronounciation of beta, gamma, and delta in classical times?

What we are looking for is something like this: (excerpt Talk:Ancient Greek phonology)

In the Συνοπτική ιστορία της ελληνικής γλώσσας (Summary History of the Greek Language, Αθήνα 1986), Γεώργιος Μπαπμινιώτης (George Babiniotis) describes the transition from ancient to Koine Greek as involving structural transformations at all linguistic levels (p 114), and goes into some detail on the phonological changes, starting with the vowels (p 115), diphthongs (p 116), and then consonants (p 120). There is an 8-page discussion of the transition from ancient to Koine sounds. There is a table of the ancient sounds and spellings (p <π> / b <β> / pH <φ> etc.) and the late Alexandrian sounds and spellings (p <π> / b <μβ/μπ> / v <β> / f <φ> etc.) with some detail about the different times and dialects when these changes happened (not all simultaneously).

I assunme that you have access to a Greek university library. We would particulary be interested in scholarly articles in this subject written by Greek linguists. Andreas 22:03, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

manos, would you really think that he if he is a greek that he would play for a macedonian club? and even a nationalistic one? did you think he would ever carry such a bagand would play in a area surrounded with these flags?if he was a greek? i dont think so, and so do you, so please stop your crap and accept it. oh yeah, his name was Lazareski or Lazar, untill 1913, when the greeks started to force macedonians to change their last names into greek sounding ones, just like you renamed all the cities into greek ones, so that shit you are saying about these last names is based on nothing. --Makedonia 19:51, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You must to be kidding. MatriX post within my topic (“Are you getting confused with the Macedonian history or something??”). I can't understand that language. So there is no point to post something in my topic, if I can't understand it. On the other hand, NikoSilver started a new topic (Geia = Hello in Greek) in order to welcome me in Wikipedia. So NikoSilver isn't "obligate" to write in English. On the other hand, MatriX should write in English if he replies to someone that he can't understand his language. Except if he didn’t reply to me and then you should move his post to another topic.

GR_MANOS 02:06 (GMT+2), 31 May 2006

manos, your last edit is better, and i am willing to accept that version, however it would be fair if you add or let me add the Category:Macedonian Australians on his page, just as you did for Greek-australians category. --Makedonia 16:49, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

opa opa katastrofa:)[edit]

I and We macedonians are the Descendants of the Ancient Macedonians, especially the macedonians from southern rep. of macedonia, We Macedonians live and have lived in Macedonia for over 4000 years, Untill the break up of Macedonia in 1913 this region was for 90% inhabited by Macedonians, After the Treaty of Bucarest, you the Greeks were brought in from Asia Minor, to live and settle in Macedonia due to the Treaty of Lausanne.

Aristotle was born in Stageira, a city in Macedonia, he was Macedonian, however Hellenism was the known civilized world back then, so he went to the big civilized Athens probably at age 18, Became a pupil of Plato, He was Hellenized, Hellenic Philosophy , Hellenic Intellectuality. Do keep in mind that Greece didnt exist in those days, you had the Ancient city states like Athens, Sparta etc. these Made up the Hellenic World, Macedonia was a Seperate Kingdom, Kingdom of Macedonia, of course Macedonia wanted to be a part of that known world back then, The Hellenistic world. but that doesnt mean, Macedonians were the same people as Athenians or Spartans, they were Macedonians.

the map you are showing, if you look good in the left corner above, you see in the legend a Purple Colour box, next to it there is written: Greece, and Greek OCCUPIED MACEDONIAN LAND. those regions on the halkidiki peninsula was not Greek land, it was Macedonian land conquered by Greece, same as the Greek occupied land you see in the Right corner above.

On you Reacting on our UNITED MACEDONIA supports, a United Macedonia and your statements are probably a real "Thorn in your Eye". Otherwise if you just see it as stupid nonsense propaganda, you and your fellow greeks would not react and that even multiple times about that topic. In a Couple of Years the Treaty of Bucarest will end, and then Macedonia will Gain their rights for getting back what belongs to her. of course i am not sure it will really happen, but i believe in it and i strongly support it. If there will be a Greek Majority as your buddy telex says, let them live there, no problem so long they dont make any problems, but i think most of them will move out of the country by themselves anyway, just like Serbs are moving out of Kosovo in the last few years.

As for the Genetic research, they've compared Greeks with Ethiopians and other meditteranean peoples with eachother, and its shows that Greeks have similar genes with Ethiopians ;)

I am Sick and Tired of Discussing with such Greeks as you, Greeks for whom Macedonia, Macedonians and Macedonian History is a "Thorn in their eyes" ever since the existence of these 2 peoples. You will never agree with me, and i will never agree with you, time will show the truth, already the real truth is getting known more and more everyday, Greeks are losing control on the history they've stolen.

but well i am glad many many Greeks are the opposite of you, those many greeks do like us, do see us as descendants of ancient macedonians, do accept our history and dont have any problem with our macedonian existence.

only Greek politicians are making problems, but on the other side, of course they do, cause if the truth will get out, the whole Greek nation seems to be based on nothing but lies. them and the bunch of greeks who are filled with their governments propaganda.

oh yeah, i did not remove them because of your statements, i removed them because else my page would have been blocked or removed.--Makedonia 23:08, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Personally, I believe that the Macedonian ethnic group of FYROM is Tito's invention out of a Serb-occupied western Bulgarian population. No one had ever heard of a Macedonian ethnicity prior to Tito, and this "we are the descendents of the ancient Macedonians" claim is ridiculous. Are just the Macedonian Slavs the descendents of the ancient Macedonians? What about everyone else living in the region? Did the ancient Macedonians carefully vet with whom they bred, maybe? I'm sorry to disappoint you, Makedonia, but if you are basing your connection to the ancient Macedonians on genes, then you'll have to stand in the queue - all other ethnic groups in the region probably have genes from the ancient Macedonians: Greeks, Albanians, Bulgarians (the ones not brainwashed by Tito), Serbs, Vlachs, Turks, even Gypsies. In my opinion, ethnicity is based on language and culture, in which case you have no connection to the ancient Macedonians, as no Slav ever met an ancient Macedonian. By the time the Slavs arrived in Macedonia, all they found was Greeks (Even Britannica confirms it) - the ancient Macedonian ethnicity, whoever they may have been - had long vanished from the face of the earth. --Telex 23:32, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also, that genes "research" was widely discredited and ridiculed by the scientific community as lacking scientific merit (click here), apparently, according to that, the Japanese also have sub-Saharan origins. If you are into genes research, try reading this, much more credible. --Telex 23:33, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
