Hi, Esther. I'm sorry, but you have provided me with very little information. I am not sure how to help you. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, where contributors write articles on a wide variety of topics. Here are some links for you to follow and read:
I hope one of the above links can help you. Functc ) 22:59, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the edits (reverts from vandalism) to the #MN_Chat page. It will settle down once The New wears off, but it was surprising to see someone watching out for the random comments. Thank you.

where are you from?[edit]

hi func,

the info on mercora isn't helpful for the reader. all it does is quote several sections from the company's legal policy...that doesn't really explain what the app does.

any suggestions? 69.28.99.206 (talk · contribs)

Hi. I guess it depends on what you mean by isn't helpful for the reader. You can explain what the application does without using advertisment-like language, such as you did here. Wikipedia has several policies that cover this, including WP:NOT and WP:NPOV. I don't know what Mercora is, so I can't really help. Our primary concern is that Wikipedia not be used as an advertising platform, as this tends to lessen our credibility as an encyclopedia.
Happy editing. :) Functc ) 00:58, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mediawiki scripting project/page[edit]

All hail the master of monobook.js! I was wondering if there might be a way to collect all the different bits and place them all on one page, maybe even start a Wikiproject/page on Meta for this purpose? Let me know what you think (this is a thread, edit this section to reply) about the matter - it would be really nice to implement some sort of standardised system for all the common functions Alphax τεχ 11:06, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Alphax. Yeah, I'm trying to find some time to wrap my head around a systematic approach to "hacking" the 'pedia. Of course, you know about Wikipedia:Tools, right? :) Functc ) 22:22, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if there is a way to find and contact all users currently using JS to do these things... any idea who originated the common features (eg. adding the purge/edit section 0 links)? Oh, and what should the page be called? Wikipedia:Tools is mostly external stuff. Alphax τεχ 00:14, 5 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

A vandal has copied your name.[edit]

About 16 minutes ago, user:Funс did an autofellatio vandalism to WP:VFD. Its user page and talk page are copies of yours, and its sig makes it look like you, too. Errh... what is this all about? Lupo 10:53, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

This is a thread. If you want to stay synchronised, don't substitute it. Some of us are considering forming a wikiproject (or something) to coordinate on scripts for the Monobook skin. Ironically, almost of all of it will be implemented in JS, not CSS. I thought you might be a knowledgable person when it comes to this stuff. Alphax τεχ 13:58, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Guys, just posting a link to here on people's talk pages is good enough to attract interested parties. Transcluding this screws up section editing on all affected talk pages. And I don't think I'll get the new message alert anyway if this is transcluded. Lupo 14:07, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
Help us decide a name then! Alphax τεχ 15:07, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
As to coordinating scripts for the Monobook skin: what's the objective? A library of plug-in JavaScript snippets? A manual for the CSS used? Lupo 14:07, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
Yes, a library of plugins. Alphax τεχ 15:07, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I can try to help with css more than js btw as I'm much better than that (but still not that good). If anyone needs a person to double check stuff I also have a bit o' time on me hands =) This project looks cool though. Sasquatch 19:42, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

What is the link to the monobook project? - Ta bu shi da yu 00:12, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

There isn't one yet, we need a name and to decide where it should be located (on WP:, meta:, commons:)... Alphax τεχ 04:04, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I think it should be in the Wikipedia namespace. Good idea, btw. - Ta bu shi da yu 04:18, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Though I know very little about JS and how it works and most of the stuff on my monobook.js is just copied and pasted I'd be willing to join since I've been meaning to learn javascript and it would be a good way to put real use to it. I also think it should be on the WP: namespace btw. Jtkiefer T | @ | C ----- 15:53, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

Congratulations![edit]

Congratulations! It's my pleasure to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. You might find the new administrators' how-to guide helpful.

Also, thanks for having such a short user name. Makes filling in all the fields easier. :) Cheers! -- Cecropia | explains it all ® 15:59, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations on your RFA! Thanks for dropping by my talk page too - I really appreciated your personalized note. I wish you all the best! --HappyCamper 20:32, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My congratulations, too — but also my commiserations (you'll see...). --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 20:36, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I will add my congratulations to the stack. Glad I could help with your doppelganger. --Allen3 talk 21:16, August 11, 2005 (UTC)
Your most welcome, Func. :) Squash 22:21, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My Rfa[edit]

Well, I'd add my congratulations to your record, but then I'd feel too unoriginal since so many other people have similar sentiments! :). But anyway, thank you very much for your vote on my adminship nomination, and your support is a big motivator to be a conscientious editor. Cheers, Slac speak up! 22:38, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Please stay[edit]

Dbraceyrules, please don't leave Wikipedia over the actions of an idiot like Xizer (talk · contribs). He is being watched now, and we appreciate your contributions to the project. Please stay? :) Functce,  ) 23:28, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks func, but I still think I am gonna go. Please lock my user page. D. J. Bracey 23:34, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

For you breaking the record in your RFA and for being a great Wikipedian, I vandalized your talk page with this Barnstar. Enjoy. Zscout370 (Sound Off) 01:14, 12 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Func's RfA :)[edit]

It a pleasure to support one of the 2% of nominations that i belive are deserving of admin status. I just hope that you do not misuse, abuse, or negelect the rights and responsibilities that you have now been give, something that a vast majority of your fellow admins have done. As for Philadelphia, i lived in the city for several years, and go to vist onece in a while. I have fondness for the city from before i was a resident, feel free to step in and make improvments to the related articles, as we could use some extra hands. --Boothy443 | comhrÚ 05:35, 12 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Func's RfA :)[edit]

I have received your acknowledgement and you are welcome. As I also plan to become an administrator here sometime soon, you may nominate me if you would like to.--Jusjih 07:05, 12 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal Vendetta[edit]

Certain AOL (who else?) user(s) are on a vendetta against me and are removing external links to my sites from Radio Boys, Grosset & Dunlap, Supermystery, Mildred Benson, Roy Rockwood, Clues Brothers, Casefiles, The Dana Girls, Hardy Boys Digest, Undercover Brothers, Harriet Adams, Ted Scott Flying Stories, Nancy Drew, Franklin W. Congratulations[edit]

I see you have been made an admin whilst I was away. (Darn it I wanted to nominate you!) Anyway my belated congratualtions! No abusing your powers now just for the fun of it! However as a newbie admin who doesn't know any better you have a bit of leeway in that respect, so if you want to go on a block/protect/delete rampage now is the time to do it ;-) (Note to my stalkers - that was joke! I'd never encorage an admin to turn bad, unless there was money in it for me (That was a joke too - I have no use for money, infinite power is my only aim mwhaaa!!)) Theresa Knott (a tenth stroke) 12:31, 12 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You'll notice that she didn't say that that last remark about "infinite power" was a "joke". A Theresa Knott stalker. 17:11, August 12, 2005 (UTC)

Congrats! Glad I could put you over the top... --Briangotts (talk) 16:14, 12 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats. =) -- BMIComp (talk, HOWS MY DRIVING) 11:34, 13 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tart, knees hot (Tote the ranks)[edit]

You're welcome. What are my newfound powers, can I now yell at those lower than me? :) Can I promote people? If I can, I promote you again to Commander Administrator (**) for breaking the record. Father Howabout1 Talk to me! 20:59, August 12, 2005 (UTC)

Another thing. I've been using your monobook.css and .js. They are really handy even though I can't seem to become an admin, it gives me a faster revert (only one click and an edit summary slower then rollback). Father Howabout1 Talk to me! 21:03, August 12, 2005 (UTC)
