Democratic Party[edit]

I removed your recent posting to the talk page of the Democratic Party. Please note that talk pages are for the discussion of improvements to the article rather than general discussion of the topic. TFD (talk) 09:01, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was speaking to ways it needs improved. It needs to tell the truth and there should not be a person editing who purposely avoids facts and history on said subject. It is immoral and makes the problem worse. I mean why do you use this site? Its either to help others learn or its not. Forescity (talk) 11:12, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

All major parties supported slavery until it was abolished. The article points out that anti-slavery Democrats left the party in 1854. I agree that there could be more on civil rights: the Democrats opposed the equal rights amendment and southern Democrats supported segregation.

One of the unique features of the U.S. two party system is that parties have re-aligned several times over the years. Many socialists for example belonged to the Republican Party, while the head of the John Birch Society was a Democrat. Donald Trump put up a picture of Andrew Jackson, the founder of the Democratic Party who is now disowned by liberals.

If you have specific suggestions for improving the history section of the party, then please post them. Try to assume good faith. Sometimes if something important is left out of an article, it's because no one has thought to add it, not because it is a conspiracy. Also, bear in mind that policy requires that articles provide the same weight to information and opinions in articles that is found in mainstream media and academic writing. So if those sources are biased, that bias will show in the article. The only way around that is to first get policy changed.
