Ferris Webster[edit]

Thanks for your article on Ferris Webster. I've removed some of the links from the article in accordance with Wikipedia's link guidelines. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. And welcome to Wikipedia! --Bookgrrl 03:08, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome! Just to let you know, if you put four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your messages on Talk pages, it will sign and date-stamp your message. You can also click on the button third from the right in the row of buttons just above the editing box (it looks a bit like a signature), and that will insert the signature for you. Note that you don't have to do this on article pages, that happens automatically. Happy editing! --Bookgrrl 14:54, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you managed to lose the history in the process. Wahkeenah 16:05, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's still not working. The redirect redirects to itself. Unless i'm getting ahead of you. :) Wahkeenah 16:29, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I got it back again, by going into the Rise Stevens article's history and reverting one generation back. I think what you need to do is called a MOVE operation. I can't tell you much about that because I've never done one, or at least I don't recall doing one. But that will have the effect of renaming and bringing the history along. I think. Wahkeenah 16:48, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The reason she's on my watch page is probably something to do with Going My Way. I think it's awesome that she's apparently still with us, at the age of 93, but I have no idea what the current status of her health is. Wahkeenah 16:50, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There is no real content in the history of the new page. I recommend you play "musical chairs", and move the current page to some other name, move the old page to the new name, then move the temporary name to the old name and use it as a redirect page. Wahkeenah 16:53, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
She sings one of the well-known Carmen songs ("La Habanera" -- or is it "La Habañera"?) in Going My Way. I'm guessing you already knew that. Now you've got me playing it on my iPod (not her version - an orchestral version). Wahkeenah 18:05, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

{{spoiler}}

So is it "La Habanera" or "La Habañera"? In Going My Way, there is a segment where Father O'Malley (Bing Crosby) goes to see her. I forget why, exactly. But it appears that her character was a former girlfriend. They are talking through her dressing room door, and when she finally opens the door and sees his priestly garb, her demeanor towards him changes from friendly banter to deferential respect (societal norms were different then). Anyway, this segment has her singing that song from Carmen. She looks pretty much like her picture in the article, maybe a little older. As a bonus, she sings the song "Going My Way" in an operatic style. Come to think of it, maybe that's why he went to see her, to look over this song he had written, or some such (sorry, it has been awhile since I last saw the film). Wahkeenah 18:22, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As noted in this contemporary review [1] Rise also sings "Ave Maria". Wahkeenah 18:28, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome from the Opera Project![edit]

Thanks very much for joining the project! I hope that you enjoy editing the opera articles; there is certainly plenty of work to be done! If you have any questions, just leave a note on the project talk page, or mine. Again, welcome! Cheers, Moreschi 16:16, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome from me as well. Delighted you are contributing to the Gluck 'composer of the month' effort. - Kleinzach 11:37, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Watson B. Duncan III[edit]

I actually like most of what you've done to the above-referenced page. Hemingway used to write like that – go back through it and distill it to its essence; however, you cut a little too much detail. I've gone back and restored about 15% of what you deleted.--Hokeman 03:38, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanx to Phaedriel

Hello. I use Czech keyboard [2], copy and paste [3] or a link to a special character listed under the edit box (Help:Special_characters#Editing). You are welcome. --mj41 11:06, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ettore Bastianini[edit]

Hello ForDorothy. I apologize if you feel offended. But since i did not, understandably, study your curriculum on Wikipedia, i assumed that the person having created the article was - like myself here and here - some kind of established force. This was a mistake, obviously, and i sincerely beg your pardon. But do you happen to know that joke : " When an Englishman is abroad, he speaks english. And when he's not understood, he speaks louder " ? I happened to experience this sometimes - with Americans too. Hence my prejudice. Cheers RCS 16:57, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the discovery[edit]

Nice find. I didn't have a look at WikiMedia. That's an (ahem) very interesting statement they made there. If you read between the lines, they're effectively admitting what I've thought all along: they want to alter the music list so they can include MF composers on them. I might add this to my evidence (maybe you are planning to use it too?). Thanks very much!--Folantin 08:24, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Mike Gordon"[edit]

Hi, I noticed your notes on the edit for Tracking (video) that quote, Mike Gordon, unquote (why you put quotes around the man's real name makes no sense to me) assumed that he was confusing you, and that he was a jerk for it. If you look at what he has written he merely asks if his words confuse you, not say they are confusing you. Then you labelled him a jerk for your misunderstanding (maybe you were confused :). Lighten up man. I've also reverted the bit about the actual album name, as that information is very important to linking it with the band, Phish. Thanks Daviddec 03:18, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Crucifixion comment issue[edit]

The comment below

Alvin easter contributed the following (boldfacing added): (Since the Romans designed crucifixion to be an especially humiliating and agonizing form of death, it is logical to assume that nudity was a standard part of the procedure, especially considering that nudity would also expose the victim's genitals to all manner of flying and crawling insects. Alvin easter, it is never "logical to assume" anything when you're contributing to an encyclopedia. Your speculations about "flying and crawling insects" reveal more about you than they do about the practice of crucifixion.

appears to be an ad hominem attack. Please tell me if that was not your intention. --Ainlina (talk) 08:34, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
