Had been meaning to write an article for over a year as I have had the misfortune to be drivingthrough the construction stages and suffering the myryiad of the inconveniences... so thanks all who have contributed to the article - please note my comment on the article talk page - the local conflcation of the airport developments and the gateway development means that there are more than one thing happening here at the same time - but the authorities havent really helped. It is inside and outside the airport land, and as far as i can see has nothing to do with the rail infrasteructure apart from building bridges over it... in its initial stages of development it removed what i guess might have been about a cubic kilometre of bush as well... satusuro 14:03, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

I may be busy doing my work because I am now doing Year 11 stuff (or perhaps Grade 10 in USA). Whenever I do not update TAFI for a long while would you please update TAFI, specifically the WP:TAFIACCOMP? If you can't, then you could always ask some other TAFI members. Well, everybody's time is limited because of stuff that happens in real life, or other stuff they prefer to do online (on Wikipedia or otherwise). That's why we have WP:NOTCOMPULSORY as (part of) a policy. With regards to TAFIACCOMP, frankly, its just too much boring manual work that really should be done automatically by a bot, rather than sucking up my time (or yours, or anyone else's for that matter). I'll still be around to provide technical support to TAFI with regards to templates and the like, but I don't see myself updating TAFIACCOMP in the near future. - Evad37[talk] 21:49, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

makes me hungry. the issue of locality/suburb i suspect has been through many times before - just cannot remember which was the most comprehensive and therefore sufficiently expounded debate - I suspect that either order or gnang have the better memory of the issue.
what really intrigued me about the airport having its own 'suburb/locality' name is that I dont think even the perth airport authoriy itself use the name... it is a mystery (unless i havent read things correctly) who actually use the name for an address... satusuro 15:58, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
The various warehouses/businesses you see along/near Horrie Miller Drive on the way into the airport might use Perth Airport as the suburb/locality. The other thing about the suburb/locality issue is whether there may be some which change from one to the other as you cross from one local government to another – e.g from memory, all of the suburbs within City of Swan are actually localities (or at least they have "Locality of ..." signs at the main entry points, like the one for Noranda I linked to at Talk:Perth Airport), but I don't know if neighbouring LGAs like City if Bayswater which share the suburbs/localities would define them areas as suburbs or localities. - Evad37[talk] 23:53, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

I'm curious about one of your edits, the one with the description " (→Exits and intersections: route numbers need to be specified as text for MOS:ACCESS, and per MOS:RJL)". I find having both the route symbol and the same text adjacent to it quite ugly. Can the same MOS:ACCESS guideline be met by adding "|alt=on" to the {{AUshield}} transclusions (or better yet if that works, make it the template default)? --Scott DavisTalk 10:23, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
@ScottDavis: Image accessibility requires a nearby caption, per point 2 of MOS:ACCESS#Images (with some exceptions that don't apply here). I think it might be to maintain accessibility for those who use a text-only browser or choose to turn images off in their browser, but in any case, how is the general reader, who probably is not familiar with the various shapes and colours of the different road route markers, supposed to know what is meant by the images , or the difference between and (especially since they can't be made much larger if they are to fit in with a line of text)? - Evad37[talk] 12:24, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
The alt text is visible to screen readers and text-only browsers., and show reasonable alt text (National Route 1, Tourist Drive 2, State Route 3, National Highway A1, State Route A1) which gives a good indication of the meaning they would lose through not seeing the image. point 2 of MOS:ACCESS#Images says that most images should have a caption. In this case, the Alt text would be the meaning of the symbols on the shield, and the "caption" is the adjacent name of the road. I concede that I had not realised I would need to manually turn on the alt text until I looked at your edits, I'd just assumed that part of the reason for using the template was to ensure that the symbols were accessible. --Scott DavisTalk 12:44, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
alt text isn't necessarily visible when the images are displayed - I don't think mobile devices or tablets would be able to display alt text, what with there being no mouse pointer, and desktop browsers Chrome, IE, and Firefox didn't show me any alt text from hovering over the images. So again, how is the general reader supposed to know what a white pentagon, brown pentagon, or blue semi-circle-ish shape are supposed to mean? And a road name by itself is not a very good caption - captions are supposed identify the subject of the image, and relate the image to article, i.e. explain the relevance, as very few images are self-explanatory - see WP:CAPTION#Captions#Some_criteria_for_a_good_caption. - Evad37[talk] 13:08, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
I'm not convinced of the necessity for writing the text right next to the the symbol in the general case, however I concede that appears to be the convention followed on the assessed articles. Your Roe Highway example is more about conveying the information about the crossing road changing designation than specifically about whether the symbol is captioned. The small text in the symbol doesn't need to be read in the article any more than it needs to be read as you drive past it at 110km/h. The shape conveys information, so the words are only needed where the shape is not visible, which is the purpose of alt text. I still think it unnecessary, but will try to remember to do it more often if I'm editing an article, especially if that becomes a measurable improvement relative to other things I could devote my efforts to. --Scott DavisTalk 01:52, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

Do you (or really, does the general reader) implicitly know what the following route marker designs mean , if the only caption is road name? In any case, I agree that other editing (adding and improving content and references) is more important than stylistic issues – MOS compliance isn't so important until the quality is approaching Good Article level, and full compliance isn't actually required until it's up for Featured Article status. Most of the time, it doesn't really matter exactly what the signs mean, only that the next one you see is the same. We have articles like National Highway (Australia) and List of road routes in South Australia That should explain the details of their sign's meanings. I haven't found an article about tourist routes in Australia - but I haven't found any significant sources to write one, either! --Scott DavisTalk 05:50, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
@ScottDavis:That might be the case when driving, but Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a series of guidance signs on the side of the road, where drivers have to absorb and process the information in seconds. We shouldn't be making readers chase other articles when the images can be explained in a couple of words. Anyway, if you're are interested in pursuing it further I would suggest discussing at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Road junction lists, because MOS:RJL#Text_appearance is the part of the MOS that tells us to include the text that the marker images represent (the two of us discussing on a user talk page isn't going to result in any changes to the MOS). And yes, reliable sources for tourist drive are quite scarce. I was lucky enough to find a good one in order to create the article Tourist Drives in Western Australia (a format that can be copied if any are found for other states). - Evad37[talk] 01:40, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
I don't care strongly enough to go through the effort of trying to change the MOS. So long as I don't revert your edits, and you don't revert mine, then we are both contributing to improving the encyclopaedia in the ways we see as most important or most interesting. Fremantle Update

I work for Fremantle Prison YHA and have been apart of the development of the site, so I can assure you the update was correct. I'm not really sure how to reference it apart from referencing YHA and I did not want to advertise the business. Also I had a read of the citation page, and the general advice was that given the type of content it does not need to be cited. Hi EMurrell785, I've added the info back in referenced to a Sydney Morning Herald article I found. If there is coverage of the opening date in a similar news source or other reliable source (e.g. government website), then it can be added back in. But if you actually work for the company, it would be better to make suggestions on the article's talk page (in this case, Talk:Fremantle Prison) rather than editing it directly. While anyone can edit, we do have a Conflict of interest guideline that should be followed to avoid potential problems (which may be created even if there is good intention). As for what needs to be cited, the policy says "All material in Wikipedia mainspace, including everything in articles, lists and captions, must be verifiable." Whether the information needs an inline citation – one that is next to the actual text, rather than just at the end – depends on what it is, but part of the provision is "any material whose verifiability has been challenged or is likely to be challenged", which basically means anything that isn't as obvious and simple as the sky being blue i.e. anything about which a person not connected to the subject could reasonably say "Prove it!". The tafe and wedding chapel info is cited – in the main body of the article. The lead section (above the table of contents) doesn't need to repeat these citations (per WP:LEADCITE), as it is just of summary of the article. - Evad37[talk] 08:52, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

Hello again Evad37: I'm looking to create a dual image box for Week 22 at the TAFI Schedule, using the image presently in place for deep frying, along with the image to the right for Polar ice cap File:HMS Tireless, North Pole 2004.jpg. I'm looking to have the two images horizontally side-by-side, rather than stacked vertically. I'm looking to use the caption to the right on this page as the caption for TAFI. It seems to be a bit complex reworking Template:TAFI/Picture box to do so, so perhaps a one-off can be created for week 22. Your assistance regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated. I seemed to stop assessing articles after Ice cream parlor, and also, even though I attempted to add an updated archive, I have no idea on how to change the archive for weeks beyond the Deep frying and Polar ice cap twin articles. @Qwertyxp2000:: Once the 5-per-week comes into effect, the schedule archive will need to be formatted like the 2013 listing - a heading for the week number and all the articles for the week listed there. It can probably be done with templates, but I don't have the time at the moment to investigate. For the assessments table, you can use |week= to override the default value of YYYY/WW – dd Mmm yy (eg you could specify something like |week=2015/22 – 25 May 15 (1 of 5)) - Evad37[talk] 06:48, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

It's not acid rain! Lol, nothings changed and most Aussie articles that have a climate section have green rain, and it does look better (in my opinion) than the blue. @Luxure: I do personally prefer the blue. Green just seems so unnatural to me. Most depictions of water use blue – eg on maps, in cartoons/animations, diagrams such as File:Capillarity.svg, and the rain in various weather icons – I don't think any of them would look better with lime green instead of blue. Anyway, If you want to start a discussion on either the article talk page, WT:WA, or WP:AWNB, and obtain (or confirm) a consensus, I will abide by that consensus - Evad37[talk] 00:48, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

was called Forrest Highway in the 1940s, and I have placed a hat notice at the current Forrest Highway article, I dont like it - please suggest where the name issue might sit inside the article rather than as a low relevance note, thanks or please... JarrahTree 03:09, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
I've combined it with the other hatnote at the moment. I don't know where else it would really go in within the article – and is it really encyclopaedic content? I have no problem if it was removed - I suppose the thing is that there have been 2 highways named after him, it is interesting in the terms of his name being in the landscape - in government maps of the 1880s and 1890s he and his brothers exploration tracks were found on maps of the state - as if their journeys were some concrete fixture... it is quite a legacy of the name sprawled across the state for both of them... It is interesting, but the proper place to expand/write that multiple highways were at different times named after John Forrest would probably be at the article for John Forrest. Hi Evad (Dave?). Thanks for the FAR review on O-Bahn Busway. I am gradually looking at it. I have added the infobox and interchange names tonight. The templates didn't seem to pass through all the parameters properly, so in the process, I have modified {{AUSintcore}}, {{SAint}}, and {{AUSinttop}}. I've also updated Max Fatchen Expressway to display the interchange names, since they had been intended to display before, but didn't have the syntax quite right anyway. As you are the main contributor to these templates, I am letting you know deliberately, as I don't have a good set of test cases to make sure I did not inadvertently ruin some other articles in the process of fixing the ones I am thinking about tonight. Thank you. This is the first time that I recall I have been seriously involved in raising an article to FA standard. I tend to usually work around the large-stub to Start-class, aiming to increase the breadth of coverage in areas I have some interest in. Despite living within 30 km of the O-Bahn for the last 25 years, and within 50km before that, I think the last time I rode on it was while they were running the "Beyond Paradise" ads at the opening of Stage 2. I cycled along the linear park near it last year. I hope I am doing enough to keep/restore the article to FA standard, but am discovering that my style of prose suits the shorter articles better. --Scott DavisTalk 12:18, 24 August 2015 (UTC)

There's some uninformed speculation online that Mr. Cruel kidnapped, raped and killed Kylie and i don't want that to infect Kylie's article. I don't think that Mr Cruel did it - Mr Cruel was careful not to leave forensic evidence, and whoever raped and killed her left their sperm, pubic hair and DNA all over Kylie. Over the past two weeks, there has been extensive discussion on introducing bot automation to assist with maintenance of the Today's Articles for Improvement project. A bot has now been approved for trial and will carry out the weekly duties. The bots first run will occur around 00:00, 22 November 2015 (UTC) (midnight on Sunday).
If you have been assisting any of the weekly maintenance tasks, please refrain from doing so this week. The bot needs to be tested and proven it can do the job, and it only gets one chance per week. The tasks will include:
Adding {{TAFI}} to the new article for improvement, remove {{TAFI}} from last week's article and add {{Former TAFI}} to the talk page
Notify relevant WikiProjects that the new TAFI is within their scope
Send a mass message to everyone on the notification list of the new TAFI selection
Updating the accomplishments and archiving selections is still done manually, along with daily tasks such as adding approved entries to the articles for improvement page. These will become automated in the near future.
