Peel Monument[edit]

Re [1] - but ... now the photo hasn't been taken by a Peel? ;-) But I'm only joking, it's a really nice photo, thanks for sharing it! Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 18:05, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Also, thanks for nominating it for QI on Commons! I'd have supported it if I'd seen it earlier - sadly I just got to support the alternative photo. ;-) But in general, keep going, and ping me if you run into any problems! Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 21:17, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thank you for your support on the alternative. :-) I didn't notice that your name was the same as the monument. Are you related to Robert Peel in any way? - Espandero (talk) 08:16, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not as far as I'm aware. :-) I'm on the John Peel (writer) branch of the name. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 11:00, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Valère Basilica

The Valère Basilica is a fortified Catholic church in Sion, in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is situated on a hill at an altitude of 615 metres (2,018 ft), and faces Tourbillon Castle located on the opposite hill. The first parts of the building were constructed around 1100, with numerous additions over the subsequent centuries. It was designated a minor basilica in 1987. The site is a listed as a Swiss heritage site of national significance, which includes the surrounding hill due to the large number of protected plant and animal species present there. This photograph shows the Valère Basilica in February 2021, with the Haut de Cry, a 2,969-metre (9,741 ft) peak of the Bernese Alps, in the background.
