Information icon Please do not add or change content without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you.--VVikingTalkEdits 15:07, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop deleting what I have added. It's extremely important to black history and you're constantly erasing it. Her daughter is the best and most reliable source that we have. Are you looking for a book written by a white man or something? Something from a science lab? It's not in a book, it can't be but it is in those interviews. If the person interviewing is a blogger, I cannot change that. I can't force the owner to create an official website. It's pretty evident that this is a reliable source. My lord. Stop deleting. (ec) Blogs and interviews are not reliable sources. This is not a racial issue; I don't know what your race is, nor is the race of the subject relevant. If you want to argue that a particular source is reliable, do so at the reliable sources noticeboard. Restoring your edit will be considered edit warring and you will be blocked if you persist. 331dot (talk) 15:30, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It is 100% a racial issue as it always is whenever we are discussing a woman of colour and how they are depicted in history and white men are preventing that from happening, intentional or not. Your "reliable sources" are typically books written by white men and therefore people who have money. If your reliable sources can extend to most minorities (who cannot afford nor have the privilege of having books published therefore we will only have interviews and blog posts) then that evens out the very uneven playing field here. Hopefully you can understand how bad and racist it is to leave a black woman's image down to a white man and a white woman (i.e. the people who 'own' the reliable sources). If you use kerouac as your reliable source, Alene Lee is depicted as a groupie. Her daughter's interviews are the best source of information. Ellieridesagain (talk) 15:36, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You do not know with any certainty the race of the people on the other end of the computer. Not all reliable sources are written by white men. If you want to tell the world about this person, you should do so on social media or other websites with less stringent requirements for sourcing. Those requirements apply to whites, blacks, Asians, Arabs, and if they're out there, Vulcans. If you want to fight a racial battle as to how history or people are depicted, you are in the wrong forum. 331dot (talk) 15:40, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You have argued in your edit summaries that She (Alene Lee) is an important figure in black female history and beat history... This may well be true. If so, we should be able to find better sources than bloggers who interviewed her daughter and wrote a blog about it. The Beat generation is an extensively studied and documented art and literary movement. Surely someone wrote significantly about Lee. And if not, perhaps she is not as important a figure as you have argued. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:36, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No, that's THE POINT. We cannot possibly find better sources because white men are in charge of that history. Black people in the beat generation have been whitewashed.
'The Beat generation is an extensively studied and documented art and literary movement'. By white men... It's white men writing about other white men. They only see themselves.
'Surely someone wrote significantly about Lee. And if not, perhaps she is not as important a figure as you have argued' - according to white men. Do you get that?
You following??? Black women have been written out of history so we need to write them back in. I am doing it. I have spent a significant amount of time writing all of this up. You don't need to do anything just stop putting up barriers to getting black women heard and noted in history. Ellieridesagain (talk) 15:40, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  331dot (talk) 15:43, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I was tempted to give a WP:NOTHERE block, but I do think that you want to improve this project. But you are going about it horribly wrong. We can't correct all the wrongs of history and how history is recorded with regards to Blacks or minorities in this forum. That requires a larger societal battle which is at least partially in progess. Our requirements are what they are, and they apply irrespective of the race of the topic or the race of authors of reliable sources. You cannot edit war to preserve your vision of the article. 331dot (talk) 15:46, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
