A tag has been placed on Canterbury Amateur Dramatics requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. mustafarox (talk) 23:36, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note. I can't think of any circumstances under which an amateur dramatic group could have sufficient notability to warrant an article in Wikipedia, but I expect you will disagree. I assume you've read the relevant notability guidelines and intend to provide the appropriate reliable sources backing up the assertion of notability. If you recreate this article, which had neither of those things present in its most recent incarnation, I'll be looking at it again with an eye to speedy deletion; you should be aware that the next stage after speedy deletion is Articles for deletion; if I nominate the article under that process and it fails, it will not be allowed to be recreated under any except the most extreme circumstances. I suspect you may well be wasting your time (and I apologize for putting it that way but, again, I can't imagine an amateur dramatic group meeting our notability guidelines unless Dame Judi Dench agreed to star in your next production) but you are welcome to roll the dice, like any other contributor. If you have any questions about Wikipedia policies, I'm at your service; you can leave a note on my talk page. Accounting4Taste:talk 23:50, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
