When we had the discussion about including the critical link mainly User:HumanDas and user:Ekajati were against it. All other editors were for including or at least not against it. Because user.HumanDas argued:

Category:Military brat
Well, somebody beat me to the category of military brat, but I went through last night and updated all of the brats on the List of famous military brats to have the category on their page. Well, the category has already been nominated for deletion. The reasoning is because it is a "non-neutral" term and parental occupation is irrelevant. Thus, I'm letting people who have contributed to the Military brat article know so that they can support keeping the category. Infoplease references
Hi, I saw you were removing the Infoplease references and replacing them with the United States Congress, since they are identical (and come from the US Congress). Do you want me to change all the Infoplease references in all my articles to US Congress only? Just a question.
Is RuneScapeWiki not an encyclopedia also? Pages just like my "Fooled You" page are in RuneScapeWiki numerous times and whether you admit it or not, RuneScapeWiki is just the same as Wikipedia (not based on content). And anyway, all this "patent nonsense" crap doesn't matter. It doesn't take up your disk space, you can only access it from 1) my userpage, or 2) clicking "Random article" numerous times. - According to my knowledge, the highest rank that was allowed to a Puerto Rican in the Puerto Rican National Guard prior 1952 was Colonel. However, I found this: "Luis Raúl Esteves Völckers was the first Puerto Rican to graduate from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point on June 19, 1915. He was the first member of his class to make the rank of General and one of 50 plus, that earned that rank in the US Army. During his stay at West Point, he tutored Dwight D. Eisenhower in Spanish, helping him pass that course at the Academy. Eisenhower went on to be come president of the United States (1952 - 1960) and remained very good friends with General Esteves. They corresponded regularly and visited each other on occasions." Luis Raul Esteves.
- You know, I think you are right. I thought that I had once read something about some Hispanic Californian being commisioned a general during the Civil War, but I haven't found anything. Therefore, Cavazos is the first. I'm going to write an article about Puerto Ricans who have been awarded the Navy Cross and the Distinguished Service Cross. - You can't see the orange in the logo as bad, perhaps because it's surrounded with other colors and images, in fact you can't really see the orange in the header-box unless you compare it to a brighter fuller red, but thats not to say that the orange/red is the best color, its not. You know, you made a valid point. It could be a mistake by the POW-MIA website, but then again maybe there is only a headstone in the cemetery. When I go to Puerto Rico in May for the monument ceremony, I will go to the National Cemetery and investigate.
Here is a case that you might be able help me in. There was a Marine, Pvt. Rafel Toro (there may have been a typo in his first name, maybe it's Rafael) who was awarded the Navy Cross for his actions during the 2nd Nicaraguan Campaign. Now, this person's name is not included in the "Monumento de la Recordacion" in Puerto Rico. If you can help me dig up some info on him, I might be able to convince the authorities to correct this omission.

Now, notice that the last website failed to mention Rear Admiral Frederick Lois Riefkohl, as I did in my lasted article Puerto Rican recipients of the Navy Cross. You know how it is, sometimes even the best websites commit mistakes. Let me know. Tony the Marine 20:35, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Piner-Olivet Charter School, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. - Yeah, and User:Toajaller3146 doesn't seem to get that you need to cite your sources, so I have kinda given up with the warnings to him. I've given him enough to know to stop reverting, but he seems to just ignore them. I'm the one that started the article, but it has just gone downhill and its too hard now to revert every little piece of "gossip" that goes into that article. Hey man I need a favor. I'm currently trying to get this list featured and I have had 10 days worth of support but knowing my luck I have ran into an issue. The issue involves two sentences in the history section of the article. The comment has been made that I rewrite them, and I have but, I need someone to make them sound better. If you don't mind I was hoping you might take a look.
Original sentences still on the article:
These were titles of the jobs that individuals were actually performing and became the basis for petty officers and ratings. During this time, ship crews were taken from civilian life and enlisted for only one cruise, thus making the job at hand rather than career possibilities the primary consideration.
Comments that prompted me to rewrite
- "Can these sentences be rephrased they suggest that the current ratings are not titles of jobs that individuals actually perform. I see what you want to say, but this could be clearer." Now I responded to this guys comment on his userpage since it didn't make much since, and he replied with this.: "These sentences seem to contain important information. Apparently the titles began as simple job titles and changed somehow. That could be explained better" His first comment seems to be about apples, and the second about oranges so, I only rewrote according to the second comment.
My rewritten version
These titles weren't considered ratings, they were the names of the jobs that individuals were performing. Many years past before these jobs became the basis for petty officers and ratings. - What is the relationship between the Marine Corps' MOS and ratings?
- Every article on Wikipedia doesn't have to have an Eagle, Globe, and Anchor on it, I'm just kidding. Ratings are basically a general category that all NECs fall into with some exceptions. If you can find an MOS chart to compare the Navy to the Marine Corps it will list the rating abbreviations in some cases and the Abbreviation - the NEC code in other cases.
- What is the relationship between a rating and an NEC?
- NEC is a further breakdown of a rating and a breakdown of the requirements for that billet. for example:a PR or
Parachute Riggeroops, Aircrew Survival Equipmentman is the Rating and has 3 different NEC's PR-7352, PR-7353, and PR-7356 and you have to have this course, and or be an E-4 or you must hold that NEC to be able to hold this NEC
- NEC is a further breakdown of a rating and a breakdown of the requirements for that billet. for example:a PR or
The easiest way to answer both of the previous questions is; If you lump Navy ratings and Navy NECs together you'll get Marine Corps MOS. USMC has MOS like 6711, 6712, 6721, 6722, 6724 which are for different types of Air Traffic Controllers. We have the same thing AC-6901, AC-6902, AC-6903, AC-6904 and AC which is the equivalent of your 6724. On top of that they all fall under the rating AC or Air Traffic Controller.
- Does an apprentice have a rating? (No.)
- Thats not necessarily true. see section 4223 and 4224 of [6] for more detail.

Help Please?
Hello again. So, just a little bit ago, my page totally got vandalized, to which was nothing like my page was vandalized before.
- The user 71.113.180.185 and user:Xxkevxx completely destroyed my page, which I reverted no problem. I told them don't do it again, but I don't know how it will work. Either they will disreguard it, or actually get that you can do that, but what else should I do. Should I get administrative help or just see what happens? A link of the vandalism is here.
- Also, I'm sure user pages get vandalized a lot of the time, but what is the chance for my page to get semi-protected? I'm started to get sick of reverting the vandalism on my page every other day, but if I have to do it, I will.

Marine Staff Sergeants members of the Chief's Mess???
I saw that blurb in United States Navy enlisted rate insignia, and I do believe that is an exception rather than the norm (ie maybe on an LST or other very small amphib due to space restrictions). Even on an FFG, when we were hauling around Marines for a bit, no one from the Marine contingent, E-6 or below, messed or berthed with the Goat Locker. That would be unthinkable.
I'm interested in your experiences on this matter (what ship, what time frame). Chiefs aren't too willing to share their community with anyone below E-7, in my experience, as the Chief's Mess is a place for the initiated only. Seems there would be a lot of resentment towards the Staff Sergeants from both the Chiefs and the First Classes. Of course, there could be exceptions to the rule :-)

- I can't find any references for it whatsoever. Of the three people who I've talked to (retired and former Marines), only one said that "maybe on a REALLY small amphib like the old LSTs, but they aren't around anymore. And then the 1SGT or SGM would have to pull some serious strings." I REALLY find it hard to believe, especially considering how territorial the Chief's Mess is.

Ferguson 1CP on Barclays plc
I spoke just now on the phone with Ferguson 1CP, who put this stuff here - they're a press officer for Barclays and didn't realise this would be a conflict of interest. (And hadn't heard of the publicity disaster last week concerning Microsoft.) I suggested they come to the article talk page, introduce themselves and supply info for others to add. (And be sure that releasing text under GFDL - putting it out of actual control - is precisely what they want to do.) So the text should just be reviewed for NPOV and maybe rewritten as needed. FA for Portal
I have been combing the files for an aviation related FA since we have not had one in a long time. There are some squadrons that are close but I have not been able to nail one down (VMFA-251, 314?). Any suggestions? I would love to take an hour and look around but I have to go to bed as I am about to fall asleep. The rule has not changed, but we have been backlogged lately, due to the lack of updating. I've been doing my normal twice-daily updates, but whenever I go back on the next day, I see DYK has not been updated for 10+ hours at a time (yesterday, it wasn't updated for 23 hours!). Hopefully, if we get more admins in Europe or other places to update, then we can fix the backlog issues. Nishkid64 15:04, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think we can get past this backlog if we keep going back to items that are nearly 7-8 days old. Send Jan 28 + Jan 29 to expired, and add January 30th items. Nishkid64 15:18, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
The backlog has hampered the nomination process. And it would be very unfair for qualified nominations to be dismissed for less qualified nominations (some real borderliners) which I now return for further review. Camptown 21:46, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

- There has always been some abition in letting a longer article have the picture slot. As of now, the lily article doesn't belong to that group of articles. I know from history that many editors feel unfairly treated when their nominations are rejected because of a sudden tough application of a rule that hasn't been upheld because of a temporary backlog. Requesting your opinion
Someone wants to rename the Categories of the Legion of Merit, Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Star Medals, to something like this: "Category:Recipients of the United States Purple Heart medal".
I personally oppose this move because these military decorations are only awarded om the United States and therefore cannot be confused with some other country's decoration. I see no need for the move. As a person who has been involved with United States military related artilces, I invite you to express your opinion here: Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Speedy. It appears to me, after carefully considering your request, that the belief that this image is not allowed on a wikipedia user page can only result from an inappropriate misreading of the published guidance on the subject. It communicates contact information as its central purpose, and also encodes two distinct information currency units, which may be decoded by other wikipedia users to learn about both PDF417 and information currency. MoH recipients
Thanks for your note. WP:ODM is really concerned with national honours systems, be they civil awards, military decorations, state orders, etc, etc. It was intended to take over coverage of this area from WP:MILHIST and the Numismatics WikiProject—the two WPs which had hitherto, in a vague sort of way, looked after this area. As a result, I didn't regard it as wholly inappropriate to replace WP:MILHIST with WP:ODM. Having said that, I should have thought a little more, perhaps realising that biography articles quite properly have a definite MILHIST angle. Sorry about that.
I'll take a look over these categories and add back the MILHIST tag to the relevant bio categories. If you are have any interest in the wider coverage of medals and decorations on Wikipedia then we would be glad to see you at WP:ODM.

Can you do me a favor and take a read through List of United States Marine Corps aircraft squadrons. You may have noticed that it has been my pet project for awhile. I am still working on the intro but I was hoping you could just go through and copyedit. Right now I still need to add the Post WWII info and edit some of the earlier stuff. It needs a fresh set of eyes to make sure it is on the right track. When it is complete one of these days I am hoping to put it up for WP:FLC. Quick note
Bright one that I am, I spilled a whole cup of water on my laptop the other day so I will be down and out for major editing for awhile. I will try to monitor my watchlist when able but until I can get my laptop running again I will have to ask you keep an eye out. Also any other USMC types out there that read you talk page....if they could keep an extra keen eye out as well. I will also ask that you take the Portal updates for this month. I know the RF-4B photo is up there but that may be better left for another time. No point in having 2 F-4 photos, 2 months in a row. I have an idea of what you are going to use for the FA...it looks 1000% better by the way. If there are any issues still hit me on my talk page as I will check it from work.
