"IMDB is not a reliable source on Wikipedia"

Hi, i'm the guy that keeps adding Info about Season 11 of Shameless that comes from IMDB, and you keep deleting it because you said that IMDB isnt a credible source, i just want to ask why you think that when IMDB is credited on EVERY other season TimoSLAY (talk) 16:43, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

@TimoSLAY: IMDB is not considered a reliable source on Wikipedia because the content is user-submitted and is considered a questionable source (WP:RS/IMDB). IMDB is not used as a reference on the other season articles, it is used as an external link which is acceptable (MOS:TVEXLINKS). Please also see Wikipedia:External links/Perennial websites#IMDb. Thank you. Drovethrughosts (talk) 22:58, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Congrats dude! The article you were working on, Better Call Saul (season 5), has passed the GA-criteria, becoming a good article on February 8, 2021. Great job on the improvements! For you're hard work, I award you this interesting image of a koala. Enjoy!

Top 30

You've got some good programmes there, quite a few of them sit on my top ten American serial dramas. HBO just make the best telly these days. It's made me think about my current top 20/30.Halbared (talk) 10:59, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

3RR IP block

I blocked the IP you reported to AIV because they were at four reverts on the day—doesn't really leave much room for argument IMO.

However, only after I did did I see that their talk page link was red ... no one had bothered to go and warn them. That might have stopped it from reaching the point it did.

So, next time something like that happens, in any article, please try to issue a warning first. Daniel Case (talk) 19:54, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

A little favour

Hi Alex. Long time, no chat. There's a few pages I noticed recently that may need redirecting. I'm only using my phone to edit pages right now so I don't feel comfortable redirecting them. Could you help me out with them? You can give your advice as well if you want?

Here they are:

I'll post more above later. Thanks! The Optimistic One (talk) 13:39, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

Hey there. To be honest, I don't feel comfortable redirecting articles on behalf of someone else, especially articles I have zero knowledge in, such as the football one. I would suggest starting talk page discussions on the respective articles to see if anyone objects first. For The Office ones though, I would suggest using the main series article talk page, as it will be more widely seen. Thanks. Drovethrughosts (talk) 14:06, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

The Walking Dead (Season 10)

Hello, I just want to ask you if there is any option to extend the limit of the Rotten Tomatoes template for critical reception? I checked the preview when I tried to add the last 2 episodes, but it seems that the maximum for one template is 20 episodes. Thanks. --Tobi999tomas (talk) 20:47, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

@Tobi999tomas: Hey, I made a request at Template talk:Television Rotten Tomatoes scores regarding this. Drovethrughosts (talk) 20:53, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
@Drovethrughosts: I see. It will be nice if the template is able to extend at least from 20 to 30 cause in the end, the final season will contain 24 episodes. --Tobi999tomas (talk) 11:37, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

You're acting prematurely (Good Lord Bird)

That thing you deleted because it had no references wasn't finished. That's why I commented it to make it invisible. Yes, I could do it in my sandbox, but if I do it here I'm more likely to finish it. My sandbox is full of stuff I started and never got back to. deisenbe (talk) 18:05, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Viewers in Fear the Walking Dead

Hello, user Drovethrughosts. Recently, there is a problem regarding the reliable source of the viewers of the last 4 episodes of season 6 of Fear the Walking Dead. This user, LéKashmiriSocialiste, thinks that TV Series Finale is not a reliable source, because the page is run by "fans". What do you think about this? Because he basically keep constantly creating an edit war while also I have to note him that he had troubles in the past with other users, so we cannot really trust him. I hope there is a resolution for this. Thanks. --Tobi999tomas (talk) 05:46, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

@Tobi999tomas: This is more of a TV-wide issue than just FTWD, as the main sources for ratings have disappeared and we're figuring what source we can use, because of reliability issues. There's a discussion about it on the talk page at WP:TV. Drovethrughosts (talk) 12:51, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Re - The Expanse edit

Heya, could you explain this edit to me? You changed the access date for it, which makes it appear as if I accessed the info to add the citation a lot earlier than I had. As well, you altered the website for Campainbrief.com/au to simply 'Campaign Brief'; I believe this obscures the fact that the source came from the Australian branch, and not one of the other three branches of the company. If you choose to respond here and not at my page, just ping me. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 03:00, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

@Jack Sebastian: Hey there. I didn't change the access-date, just the format from DMY to MDY. You had 17 January, I simply changed it to January 17; I also added the missing published date parameters for the references. I will change the Campaign Brief one to read "Campaign Brief AU". Drovethrughosts (talk) 14:16, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I must have missed that. Thanks for responding, Drovethrughosts. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 17:26, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
@Drovethrughosts:, Could I trouble you to help me figure out what I am doing wrong with a citation? I have two different articles by the same reviewer and differentiated the two by naming one 'elv' and the other 'elv2', which I thought would work; apparently not. I'd appreciate you letting me know how I am screwing it up. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 05:22, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
@Jack Sebastian: I did some cite clean-up at Babylon's Ashes (The Expanse), not sure if that fixed your problem. If it's still an issue, can you provide me with a diff? Thanks. Drovethrughosts (talk) 13:08, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
Not sure what I was doing wrong, citation-wise as per this diff, but your first edit seems to have addressed it. It was regarding the two different references written by the same reviewer, Craig Elvey. Thanks. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 15:37, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

Fan editor research interview

Pardon this somewhat random message, but I have a favor to ask. I'm currently working on my PhD in library science, and my dissertation is on the information behaviors of fan editors. (Here's a more detailed outline of my project, if you'd like to read about it!) My work will largely be autoethnographic, meaning that I'm taking notes about what I do, but I'm also wanting to work qualitative interviewing into the works. Since you're a fan (presumably, haha) and a prolific editor, I feel like you'd be a good person to talk to. Would you be interested in chatting with me about your information experiences?--Gen. Quon[Talk](I'm studying Wikipedia!) 23:02, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

@Gen. Quon: Hi there! Yes, I would be very interested! I feel like you asked me about something similar several years ago. Let me know what you need. Drovethrughosts (talk) 13:34, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, I believe I did (which, btw, turned into this... I don't know if I ever shared it officially! You are quoted in places, but the names have been changed to protect the innocent, etc., haha)! Would it be best to reach out via Wiki-email to explain more of the project in detail?--Gen. Quon[Talk](I'm studying Wikipedia!) 14:21, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
@Gen. Quon: Oh wow, that's awesome! I'd love to be reminded of what I said, haha. And yes, you can email me. Drovethrughosts (talk) 14:56, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

Emily/Todd

Drove, regarding the author's name you just corrected in the Mr. Robot article, is she a trans person? I seem to recall a fuss about her name back a while, but nothing specific, and I'm not familiar with her. If you can fill me in so i know what's correct, I'd appreciate it. I've run across editors who treat deadnames like middle or maiden names (Ruby Guest was a mess) which may be the case here. Thanks! ----Dr.Margi 16:59, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

@Drmargi: Yes, Emily VanDerWerff was originally Todd VanDerWerff, before coming out as a transgender woman in 2019. Per Wiki guidelines, we should be using their current names. Drovethrughosts (talk) 18:18, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
Yup, I know the guidelines; that's why I asked about her. Thanks for clearing that up! ----Dr.Margi 18:40, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

Hi. Since you recently rolled back some IP edits, I'd like to call your attention to the two bad-faith edits under Sunday - "What is it Anyway" and "What is That" (both under the WB). I had to go back nearly 2 years to find the original titles: Reba and Blue Collar TV, respectively. Unfortunately whoever did the edits messed about with the chart format so I don't want to take the chance of messing it up further, so I'll just leave the ball in your court. Cheers! 70.73.90.119 (talk) 03:49, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

First of all, tone down your language. Second of all, I suggest familiarizing yourself with some basic Wikipedia guidelines if you're going to be an editor here; mainly, WP:V. None of those sources meets WP:RS. The first two are fan wikis, which themselves provide no sources (WP:UGC). The last is a fansite, which just sources IMDB which is also not a reliable source (WP:IMDB). Thanks. Drovethrughosts (talk) 16:05, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey, I didn't did any major changes. 27.62.226.241 (talk) 14:02, 20 October 2022 (UTC)

Yes, you are. You are deleting cast members from the infobox; rearranging cast members based on in-universe categories ("greens" vs. "blacks"); moving cast members from starring to recurring based on your own opinion; and inappropriately adding "deceased" to characters when fiction is written in present tense. The description you added about an overview of the characters was nice, but it appears to be copied-and-pasted from the ASOIAF wiki and also is incorrectly written in past tense. Drovethrughosts (talk) 14:10, 20 October 2022 (UTC)

Awards

@Drovethrughosts: Hi. I noticed you removed some Resident Alien awards from the accolades table. Is there a chance you could reconsider your edit, at least for the Joey Awards? There are numerous articles that showcase the Joey Award in similar tables, even without links to a main article. Why are some articles allowed to have awards while others are not? Consistency is key, right? Should we go delete the award from all other articles if it's not allowed?

On a side note (and just my 2 cents), I believe we should highlight all awards, regardless of notability. If the organization spends the time/energy/money to present the award, we can at least honor it and show it in the tables (with or without links). If things are excluded, can this "database" truly be factual? CYAce01 (talk) 17:37, 3 December 2022 (UTC)

@CYAce01: Awards need to be individually notable and supported by reliable third-party sources to indicate they are notable and/or important. Anyone can create a blog and give "awards", that doesn't mean they should be listed on Wikipedia. Generally, there seems to be a consensus to only list awards that have Wikipedia article themselves (to support that the awards and indeed notable) or have the awards cited by reliable third-party sources (aka not the awards own website). I hope you understand. Drovethrughosts (talk) 20:45, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
@Drovethrughosts: Thank you for your timely response. I understand completely. Some things are not notable. But the question remains: In terms of consistency, what should be done about ALL the other articles that allow the Joey Awards to be shown in their respective tables? Should that award be added back? I sense a double standard. CYAce01 (talk) 21:01, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
It's mostly a WP:OTHER issue; not every article in the entirely of Wikipedia is going to be at the same standards, because different articles have different sets of editors who frequently edit them. Resident Alien (TV series) is on my watchlist, so that's why it concerned me. However, as a compromise, I'll add back the Joey Awards. Just give me a bit. Thanks. Drovethrughosts (talk) 22:37, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
@Drovethrughosts: Much appreciated! CYAce01 (talk) 00:53, 4 December 2022 (UTC)

Release date clash with Euphoria: Season 3 (Fall 2023) and House of the Dragon: Season 2 (2024)

I have raised concerns relating to Euphoria: Season 3 and House of the Dragon: Season 2 release dates. I edited both articles, but however, HOTD release date caused a major clash with another HBO series. CastJared (talk) 13:30, 28 December 2022 (UTC)

This is all speculation. You are using WP:SYNTH from sources to gauge premiere dates, we don't do this. All HBO has said is they expect it to premiere in 2024, so that's what we put. Any other source is just using speculation as they don't control how HBO schedules their shows. And Euphoria has nothing to do with HOTD (and vice versa) so please stop adding "[x show] clashing with [y show]." They're two shows that air on the same network and they have to be scheduled, there is no "clashing". Only add release/premiere dates if they're verified by the network themselves or have been officially announced. Thank you. Drovethrughosts (talk) 13:39, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
That means both of them will premiere by 2024, right? CastJared (talk) 13:58, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
I don't know. That's the point I'm making. Just wait for announcements from HBO. We don't add speculative release dates per WP:NOTNEWS and WP:CRYSTALBALL. Drovethrughosts (talk) 14:24, 28 December 2022 (UTC)

Hi, Alex. I am hoping you can guide me on where I went wrong on my edit of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I couldn't find any guideline on when an episode page should be split from the main series so I just went for it since I didn't see the harm. Apparently, it was very harmful since you reverted it along with several other fixes I made to the page. Specialsam110 (talk) 12:13, 31 May 2023 (UTC)

Ted Lasso

Hello! This is regarding the Ted Lasso article. I have reverted the edits back to the last revision. I have attached the various sources to prove my addition. Ref1, Ref2, Ref3. Furthermore, Jason Sudekis's article substantiates the point. Do let me know if you have any objections. Cheerio! ChaitanyaJo (talk) 12:46, 26 June 2023 (UTC)

Hi there. It wasn't renewed for a third and final season, it was just renewed for a third season. Nowhere in the source used does it say "final season". The Esquire says talks about rumours and speculation, which is against WP:NOTNEWS and WP:CRYSTAL. The Esquire source also calls it the "season 3 finale" and that it's "likely" the final episode. The Economic Times source literally states, "no official confirmation has been provided regarding the fate of the show." Nothing has been confirmed by Apple TV+, who is the only source that can definitely state the series is over. The season 3 finale is labeled as "season finale" on their website, as opposed to other Apple TV+ series See or Dickinson which had final seasons. Sudekis's comments are noted in the Development section. We cannot 100% say final season or that the series is over because it has not been officially confirmed. Hope you understand. Ah I understand your explanation. Thanks for clarifying! ChaitanyaJo (talk) 18:28, 26 June 2023 (UTC)

Your revert [2] of the changes to the episode list puts back in place the use of raw HTML markup (i.e. <hr />) in the table, which causes accessibility issues. The preferred markup when there are multiple values within a row is to use |NumParts= rather than the hr tag, and the template was specifically updated to support this for accessibility reasons (see discussion here). Raw HTML within the template is to be avoided. Is there a reason for your revert that would preclude this? ButlerBlog (talk) 20:54, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

@Butlerblog: Very sorry, this was a misclick on my part. I didn't even realize. Sorry again. Drovethrughosts (talk) 22:27, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
No problem! I was actually wondering if that might have been the case as I couldn't think of a reason otherwise, but I wanted to make sure before seeking to re-apply the changes. I see you've reapplied the change already - so thanks for that. ButlerBlog (talk) 22:40, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
Was it a click of the "rollback" link? Just wondering. I've done that, too where I've misclicked the rollback, so I can definitely relate ;-) ButlerBlog (talk) 22:41, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
Yup, it was a misclick of the "rollback" link, when I meant to right-click and open a new tab of a diff on my watchlist. Thanks for understanding. :) Drovethrughosts (talk) 22:44, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

Regarding picture_format for TV infoboxes

Your summaries are set to now depreciated parameters per Template:Infobox television. I think you mean deprecated, not depreciated.

  • deprecated: "Computers: ceased supporting or recommending the use of (older elements, features, or versions of software)"
  • depreciated: "reduced in value"

although I guess in many cases they are related 🙂 —Joeyconnick (talk) 18:50, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

Thank you. I initially misspelled "deprecated" in my first edit summary and clicked one of those options fix it and it was "depreciated" and I did not look hard enough to see if it was correct. Drovethrughosts (talk) 20:34, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

Succession summaries from first season

Your edit on the character summaries in Succession seems to defend keeping the summaries of the characters made long ago in the first season. Now that the show has completed its fourth season, those first season character summaries are no longer accurate it seems for the entire four seasons. It is no longer accurate to say, after the completion of season four that Tom "enjoys his proximity to the Roy family's power, but is frequently dismissed by the family's inner circle." "Dismissed" is no longer accurate since at the end of season four he is the CEO of the company. HenryRoan (talk) 01:58, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

The Killing (American TV series)

Wondering why you felt the need to revert my edit on The Killing (American TV series)?

I think it's worth pointing out that although the Danish series was called "Forbrydelsen" / "The Crime" in Danish, the title it was/is known by in many other countries (including non-English speaking ones) is "The Killing" - ie. the same as the American series!

What is wrong with me adding mention of this, which my edit does in a concise few words? 95.145.86.121 (talk) 18:50, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

You'll see I slightly tweaked the update to this edit.
Also I've now noticed from the edit history on the article page that it wasn't the first time someone else had added this relevant & uncontroversial information, with a similar edit to mine (in Dec-2020), only to have you remove it almost immediately, without giving any reason.
I have no desire to edit-war with you, but you reverted essentially the same edit (from different people), on 2 occasions without explanation, which seems to me contrary to polite collaborative editing.
Anyway, hope we can agree the sentence is now OK as it is. 95.145.86.121 (talk) 12:57, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, it's fine now. It was more or less trying to cut down on the wordiness of explaining the alternate titles of another series which this series is based on, which didn't seem that important because the Danish series isn't the focus of The Killing (American TV series) and Forbrydelsen has its own article which explains the titles. Anyway, it's all good. Drovethrughosts (talk) 13:11, 8 December 2023 (UTC)

Community task force

Hey I want to thank you for helping me get List of Community episodes ready for WP:FLC and you seem to primarly focus on TV I was wondering if you would be intrested in working on a Community wikiproject. I brought this up here. There are already some people on board but thought that it would be more effective to reach out to people directly rather then letting the idea sit. Questions? four Olifanofmrtennant (she/her) 04:52, 8 December 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know! I generally just edit articles on my watchlist, which is why you've seen me on the list of episodes article and the season articles. But I'll keep my eye out. Keep up the good work! Drovethrughosts (talk) 13:13, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
