Besoin de ton aide pour un article !

I'm a journalist for the Montreal daily La Presse. I've seen your intervention in the Quebec page on Wikipedia. I'm doing an investigation as to know why it is protected and what type of vandalisms occur there. Can you help me ?

Thanks !

Images

Hi Dragfyre, would you have any pictures of the World Centre that you have taken yourself that you could upload at commons.wikimedia.org on a free license? Regards, -- Jeff3000 04:43, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Sure, any requests? --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 04:49, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Currently, many of the images at the Baha'i World Centre buildings come from media.bahai.org, which are used as fair use, but will be deleted in the near future (other fair use building pictures are being deleted left and right). We're missing good pictures of the Centre for the Study of the Texts, the ITC, the Archives, as well as many of the Pilgrim Houses. We have a free image of the Shrine of Baha'u'llah, but it's pretty low quality, see Shrine of Baha'u'llah. I would say that those are the most important. Thanks, -- Jeff3000 05:22, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Ok. I'll see what I can contribute - I just came back from pilgrimage so I have many photos of the World Centre :) I've also noted the list you've posted at Keldan's talk page and will see if I can contribute any from that list as well. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 16:10, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks again :) -- Jeff3000 16:17, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
I serve at the BWC, but also had the chance recently to go on pilgrimage - when was yours? I was on pilgrimage 30 October-7 November. Keldan 16:20, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Same here. I was in the French group! --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 16:56, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi Guys, if you upload photos to commons.wikimedia.org, if you could place them in the Baha'i category or one if it's subcategories that would be great. It would allow all other Wikipedia languages to also find the images easier and use them. -- Jeff3000 16:26, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Ok, here we go for a start... Unfortunately, I haven't got any encyclopedia-quality pictures of the International Teaching Centre :( --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 23:52, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks a lot, they're great!!. I've categorized the images on Commons, as well as placing the badname template on the duplicate image. I'll change some of the images on the articles. -- Jeff3000 00:00, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
Hey - what do you know, I found a high-quality picture of the ITC among the 800+ photos I took... I've uploaded it to Commons along with a few others, and categorized them appropriately. I wasn't sure where to place the Mazra'ih photo so I just put it under the "Baha'i places" category. Is that ok? --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 15:44, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Great pics!! Thanks for uploading them; we're almost there to using free images :) -- Jeff3000 16:03, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
And here's more! I'll post any further images at my Commons user page. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 23:15, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Cool, cool!! -- Jeff3000 03:20, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Permissions

Yup, I also got permission from Arash, and got him to e-mail permissions @ commons so that it became all legit. That's why I uploaded many of his pictures. As for Martin's website, I would recommend you ask him to send the following e-mail to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org and a cc you to confirm the process.

Droits sur une image

Hi Dragfyre! I'm working on the future website of Tourisme Centre-du-Québec and I would like, if that's possible, to use the picture you took [1] I read the Creative commons attributions but I'd rather ask you directly. No credit would be given for the picture (we won't put our name on it either), it would not be sold, it would just be used maybe in the design and in the picture gallery.

so, what do you say? Thank you for considering my request! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Luce.Lavertu (talkcontribs) 21:36, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi—you can use the image as long as you respect the CC-BY-SA license, which states that attribution must be given. I don't mind if the attribution is in the fine print at the back or something, but a license is a license. Thanks for your understanding. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 16:42, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Dragfyre! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 938 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Madeleine Ferron - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 21:09, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

You know what's funny, I don't even remember creating that article... I think I might have split the content off from a related page though, back when I was working on improving Trois-Rivières. In any case, thanks bot :) --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 17:40, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Gia Lam Airport

Hi, actually I'm not an enthusiast of modern warfare so I'm sorry that I cannot add anything related to the military aspect of the airport. However I have some information (not much) about the foundation of the airport that I've just added in the article, hope they could be useful for you. Best regards. Grenouille vert (talk) 03:48, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

OK, no worries - thanks for the contribution anyway! The article was lacking information on when it was first built, so I'm glad you could add something about that. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 03:54, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

You've done some good work expanding the article. I was wondering if you had more info on when they broke out, and stuff like that. I only heard about them because of the smoke down here outside Boston. ~DC Talk To Me 23:38, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

AWB Access Granted

Hi Dragfyre,

I have granted your request for access to AutoWikiBrowser. If you haven't already, please read the user manual , remember that although the edits will be semi-automated, you will still be accountable for your actions with the tools.

You're hired!

Hi DF!
I hire you to keep editing at three articles: TVP1 and TVP2 everyday, and at the end of the day I will check, and pay you 10 Wikicash!

Your work is to undo to revision by 125.25.238.229.

I will give you first (today) for 200 Wikicash! currently, Wikicash is useless. But I will open it to the big project soon, and you can buy something for you account. But please collect Wikicash for the 2011 use!--125.25.244.125 (talk) 09:46, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Uhhh, is it all right if I decline? I don't really have anything to contribute to either article, and I've already got a backlog of my own drafts. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 11:51, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
But I want you to have the WikiCash so it would be easier, but you don't have to use it.--125.25.244.125 (talk) 13:09, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
See below.--dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 13:38, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
OK, upon re-reading, I see what you were asking above. Whoever 125.25.238.229 is, their edits have been reverted by another editor involved in the maintenance of those pages, and I see that said editor has warned them against adding unreliable information. Perhaps you could leave a message there too and ask that the unconstructive edits stop; that way, if they continue, the offending user could be blocked from editing, and perhaps leave the article alone. If you assume good faith and try working things out with the user by leaving civil, constructive messages on their talk page, however, you might be able to make things better without the need for a block. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 13:49, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Keep it.

And in the future, everyone will have the WikiCash in their userpages! And you got 20 WikiCash fine for removing it. You currently have 180 WikiCash.--125.25.244.125 (talk) 13:11, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

It's very kind of you, but I'd rather not have it featured on my user page, as it breaks the layout, and I'm not really interested in it. Please do not re-add it to my user page, thanks. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 13:38, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
And where to put it? I recommend you to have it. In the near future, if you break a rule, sometimes, instead of getting blocked, you'll get only fine. But now you get nothing as it's in the testing. Administrators and I are finding ways to get to the fixed system that no one will cheat the WikiCash.--125.25.21.189 (talk) 16:25, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Ok, ok, fine... if it'll make you happy, I can put it in the "Frivolous userboxes" section as a userbox. Is this ok? --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 16:33, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
180This user has 180 WikiCash.

You got 50 WikiCash!

Since you've completed your personal mission (NOT the one i've said.), I give you 50 WikiCash!

You now have 230 WikiCash!--118.172.195.165 (talk) 08:17, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Sure - kick in what you want to. Lately I'm searching through Baha'i News 1924-1990 for supplemental info to existing articles. I've done Costa Rica, Paraguay and Pakistan. See here (about 850MB download total) and here's a sample citation I've been using: "Costa Rica Holds First Indian Institute". Bahá'í News (405): p. 4. 1964. {{cite journal}}: |page= has extra text (help); Unknown parameter |month= ignored (help) - just tweak title, page, year, month, issue number and replicate. If you want go ahead and skim for Vietnam or city names, etc. 'Course that source doesn't come up passed 1990 so most news will be early on if it's there. I know folks are working on World Order and Baha'i World content but it's not available yet. I'd welcome any help improving the pages. For that matter I tend to emphasize facts and dates and places. Organizing the info into descriptive themes isn't something I've gotten into yet. So that also is something to be done - based of course on sources.Smkolins (talk) 16:48, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Actually I did more than just those three countries. They just came to mind as the most recent set. I've also done Egypt, Netherlands, Congo, Guyana and a few others. I've been working back from the begining of the alphabet at Category:Bahá'í Faith by country Smkolins (talk) 16:54, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
Great... wow, those OCR'd copies of Baha'i World are amazing... I'd imagine I could browse through that for hours on end (within reason of course). I'm going to try downloading them and doing as you're suggesting. I was thinking of asking you how I could transmit all the knowledge the Vietnamese Baha'is have shared with me without it being OR, and this seems like a really good place to start. Any other suggestions? —dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 19:03, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Translating the page into the Vietnamese language Wikipedia if there is such a thing)? How about taking on some of the neighboring countries? ANd then writing a regional article for South East Asia! You see there is quite a bit of work ahead to do. I had anticipated if I did it all my self it would take me 5-10 years at my current rate.... In terms of using info they tell you... if it's considered "common knowledge" then yes but if not or you are challenged then it needs a citation. Also since this is an english wiki english sources are preferred. The idea is that average users should be able to verify the sources or even follow up by reading more in depth from the sources. 'Course some of the same applies in the Vietnamese language pages - ask around in there how they feel about English language sources (might be far enough in that world-language development for it to serve - I don't know. Smkolins (talk) 20:57, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
I notice that Bahá'í Faith in Cambodia and Bahá'í Faith in Thailand are both redlinks, which is silly since both of those countries have strong, active Bahá'í communities, with relatively fewer restrictions on their sphere of action than in Vietnam and Laos. Bahá'í Faith in Burma should really have an article too, especially since it had such early exposure to the Faith. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 14:17, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

June 2010

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give User:Dragfyre/Sandbox/HCMC-Name a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Marcus Qwertyus (talk) 17:18, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

No problem. An admin will fix this soon. In the meantime all edits should be made to the userspace version. Marcus Qwertyus (talk) 17:21, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
OK - will wait for that to happen. Thanks! --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 17:24, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Yen Bai

I am glad to see see positve contributions from you on my sandbox on the above article. Dr Blofeld and My self have been collborating on several articles around the world (of course being Indian, India is my priority). I see you have done a number of articles on Vietnam. I presume you have intimate knowledge of the area and are able to contribute positively. We can collborate on artciles which we intend to post, if you are willing. I have searched for imgs of temples, people, agricultural fields and water resources projects (Hydropower) in the Yen Bai province but not able to find them. May be you could contribute if you have them with you or know sources from where it could be uploaded under free licence. As regards the present article, it is still under draft stage, many sections need to be rearranged. More text need to be added. Your suggestions in this regard are very good. You may like to tell us some good sources on culture, religion, irrigation, temples, etc, which we could use to expand the article. Incidentally, there is one article which you have agreed for deletion. Don't delete it. It can be suitably linked to other articles. Thanks.--User:Nvvchar (talk)|contribs) 05:20, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Vietnamese place names

Hi dragfyre. I noticed the work you are doing at Wikipedia:Requested moves with articles on Vietnamese places. It may be worthwhile working out a naming convention for Vietnamese placenames to supercede Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Vietnamese), which never seemed to get anywhere. It would probably make sense to include Wikipedia:WikiProject Vietnam in any discussion, and to flag the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (geographic names). Skinsmoke (talk) 00:38, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Discussion underway at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Vietnam#Diacritics. Is there a specific way we need to inform others that the discussion is taking place? --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 02:46, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I found the discussion after leaving you the suggestion! Duh! It looks to me like you've covered the main places. It's mentioned at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names), though you could always put a note on its Talk page, and it looks like you've notified the main Vietnam project and Vietnamese interest group. Skinsmoke (talk) 03:17, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
OK—I've posted a note at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (geographic names). thanks for the suggestion. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 04:05, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Translations

I see you've listed yourself as a translator. I wonder if you can take a look at these various articles from 1 to 10, as bits of the Viet wiki articles were lifted off in there for translating and further building. I suspect and am almost sure that you might be able to do it much more efficiently than I can YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 07:23, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Available? YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 02:31, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh ha, I thought I'd replied to this. My availability has been a bit spotty and mostly limited to basic changes, but yeah, I can take a look at this. I have to be clear and honest though, at the moment my translation skills are basically just copy-editing google translations, lol. I wouldn't consider myself "able" to translate normally, except that I've found that reading the original Vietnamese is the only way so far to answer certain questions, so I've been learning. Anyway, yeah, I can take a look at translating those, but expect the going to be slow (very). --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 02:40, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh ok. The parts about vegetation and animals were really throwing me off because I'm not really up to speed with that terminology, nor geology. And Google trans sucks and half the words don't turn up in my dictionary YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 05:57, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
One of the things I've taken to doing is getting the basic gist of the story from Google TL, and then looking up references to the main points in other places. It also helps that I can read French very well, too, because most of the works from the French Indochina period are, understandably, in French. If you think I can help you with looking up French references, let me know. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 14:17, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Cool... I can add a reference to that for sure. I've been finding more content about the Vietnam War period than any other period, btw. I guess that's to be expected, since that war is all that some people know about Vietnam... --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 14:17, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Col des Nuages derailment

Hi, thank you for your very kind offer to do a joint DYK submission for this article. I'm afraid that compared to you I know very little about the subject specifically, and unfortunately I don't speak either French or Vietnamese (though I would like to learn both in the future), so I'm not sure how much I would be able to contribute in terms of research. I would however definitely be willing to help work on the prose and general contributions if that's any use to you. Thanks, City of Destruction (The Celestial City) 11:56, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Heh, honestly I didn't even check their content, was just going through this blindly ;) Anyway, I'll end up doing a second run sometime and re-assess them properly. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 01:00, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Air strikes on railways

I don't know if you were aware, but the govt books cited in Op Rolling Thunder, Linebacker etc are PD-govt and available on the internet on some US military site easily located by google. It's very convenient and the van Staavaren one cited has a lot YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 05:52, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

The railway system of Vietnam is really bad and accident like this is frequent. It could be a good addition for DYK or Portal:Current events.--AM (talk) 16:31, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the note, I hadn't noticed that story yet. I see that an English-language version is up on VietnamNet, too. As for creating an article to submit to DYK, that's not a bad idea actually, except that individual events like this one might not actually meet notability requirements for events. However, I could see an article like Railway accidents in Vietnam being created; I've been looking up enough stuff about the Vietnamese railways to be able to make a nice little list out of that. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 17:13, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
I think that a national-level accident is notable enough for Wikipedia. About your article, I would like to help in some sector. I can't start now b/c I still have a lot of work to do. :).--AM (talk) 16:26, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

thanks for your help on proof reading the article. When i was editing it recently, i "felt" that my contribution is full of grammar mistakes but have no ideas how to improve it. Your help just made it! Thanks. --183.80.195.182 (talk) 19:19, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Here's a limk for you about railways in Vietnam, in Vietnamese

http://www.diendan.org/viet-nam/111uong-sat-cao-toc/

Hello

My deepest condolences. I have emailed you some resources on Hanoi from a journal I found YellowMonkey (new photo poll) 06:58, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Hey, welcome back YellowMonkey (new photo poll) 04:05, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
Thank you, and thanks for the condolences. In VN right now. I've actually been taking a lot of photos here to add to Commons, including a bunch of rail-related ones. Haven't had a lot of time to work on anything article-related though, seeing as I'm still in the middle of taking care of family here. Thanks for the scans btw, they should help a lot when I get back up and running. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 09:01, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

How about a partnership

Bạn có thể nói tiếng Việt? Wow. My origins are in Vietnam and I know quite I bit about the country, but I have other interests. How about we set up a partnership. I've created some peer review articles, such as Japan Airlines and Emirates (airline), and I need somebody to review them, ei. you. In return, I'll c/e, wk, and add templates to articles that you're working on, among other cleanup works. Since we both know about Vietnam, it is in my best interest that we should work together. :) Warmest of wishes for the New Year! Sp33dyphil (Talk) (Contributions)(Feed back needed @ Talk page) 01:10, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Hehehe, toi noi tieng Viet it thoi, phai tap noi nhieu hon :P That sounds like a good proposition; we seem to have at least a few interests in common, to be sure. The only thing is, my participation is going to be very intermittent in the next little while, for personal reasons (involved in a lot of stuff off-wiki, among other things). So I can't guarantee that I can be very prompt in reviewing, or even that I can do an in-depth job. The rail article has been sitting in my userspace for almost a year, for instance. So if you're OK with that level of commitment on my part, then of course, I'd be pleased to help. One nice thing: I'll be back in Vietnam over the Tet holiday, so if by chance you need some photos taken, I might be able to oblige—although I won't be going to Hanoi, mostly Da Nang and HCMC (possibly some side trips to Quy Nhon and Can Tho). Hope you have a great season :) --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 18:01, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Chúc mừng năm mới bạn luon! I won't be visitting Vietnam this year for Tet though, perhaps next year. Getting back on Wikipedia matters, I have no problems about you not being prompt for some reviewing processes. Also, some the photos I need to be you to take, are the sites of the future HCMC Metro stations. Could you snap for me Tan Son Nhat Airport, with some Vietnam Airliens planes included. If you can't, well, no probs. Thanks in advance anyway. I've also noticed that Vietnam Railways and Rail transport in Vietnam are quite similar. I'm thinking about merging them. Once again, have a memorable festive season. Au revoir! Sp33dyphil (Talk) (Contributions)(Feed back needed @ Talk page) 02:18, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
Awesome—I'll definitely give your review requests a look then, even if it's on an irregular timeline. HCMC metro station sites should be no problem, I think. What do you think would be best—pics of the areas where the future stations will be built? Or do you mean sites where construction is actually taking place? The problem with the latter, of course, would be that I'm not even sure where construction's taking place—in fact, I'm not sure anyone is. As for TSN airport, that shouldn't be a big problem... but what do you mean when you say "with the planes included"—pictures of the TSN terminal in the background with VN Airlines planes in the fore? If so, any suggestions on how I might take such pics? As for Vietnam Railways, I've already got that one in my sandbox. Actually, Rail transport in Vietnam was originally proposed for merging with Vietnam Railways—so I guess you mean you'd like to merge the newly developed content from the Rail transport article back into the VNR article. If you want to work on it, feel free to use the aforementioned sandbox, or indeed, do whatever you'd like, just so you know I've already worked on it a bit :) --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 06:33, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Thanaleng Railway Station, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. if youve reviewed it youre welcome to remove the tag.(Lihaas (talk) 06:13, 15 January 2011 (UTC)).

Heh, I would, except the entire article very obviously needs way more work. As it is, it still reads like a mish-mash of almost unconnected statements. It needs a pretty thorough rewrite, and I definitely don't have the time or the will to do it all myself right now. I'd rather leave the notices up so that someone more dedicated can take on the task. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 14:19, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
