Granada earthquake

You are making a mistake with the articles. Andalusia is not a specific place, it's a region of Spain. The earthquake had its epicenter in Granada and should be named after Granada, as in the rest of Wikipedias. Please correct the article. Lopezsuarez (talk) 18:44, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

@Lopezsuarez The renaming back to Andalusia was because you had not provide any substantial reason to support your earlier move. If you disagree with the current title, open a move discussion first. Do not move any page, especially high profile articles, to a new (and controversial) name without a discussion. Dora the Axe-plorer (explore) 00:15, 18 December 2023 (UTC)

The 2024 Sea of Japan earthquake

Hello there, Is it true that the Shindo 7 earthquake is confirmed? KeithAndAftons123 (talk) 14:33, 1 January 2024 (UTC)

Confirmed as in .... ? Multiple reliable sources are reporting intensity 7 so that's the closest to a "confirmation" I can give you Dora the Axe-plorer (explore) 14:39, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
Oh so i thought it was confirmation by the JMA, But thanks. KeithAndAftons123 (talk) 15:40, 1 January 2024 (UTC)

Foreign language titles in refs

Hi, I just wanted to reach out in a friendly and informative way; I noticed several of your edits to 2024 Sea of Japan earthquake where you added references did not follow the style guide laid out at Help:Citation Style 1#Titles and chapters for use in templates such as Template:Cite news or Template:Cite web. For titles in non-Latin scripts, they should be added using |script-title=. For example, with Japanese, it would be |script-title=ja:. A romanization of the non-Latin script title is then used in the |title= parameter. The rest of this you already seem to know: the English translation of the title is then used in |trans-title=, with |lang= or |language= being used to indicate the language of origin. I've already gone ahead and corrected the existing refs on the article to follow this style. I just wanted to let you know for future reference. Regards. Rowing007 (talk) 16:18, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi and thanks for the reminder. May I know @Rowing007 how do you obtain the romanization? Do you have to run the script title through an external website or does Wikipedia have a script I can add to my js commons page? Otherwise this is a very inconvenient and time-consming task which I haven't come across when working on other foreign-language references. Dora the Axe-plorer (explore) 16:38, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
I just have an extra tab open with Google translate for (in this case) Japanese to English. I paste the script title, then the romanization appears underneath it, with the English translation on the right. It takes maybe an extra 15 seconds per reference. Besides the fact that this is required, it is beneficial because it allows people to read the original language without needing to understand the script. Again though, this is only for non-Latin scripts such as Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Russian (Cyrillic script), Greek, Arabic, etc., not all foreign languages. For example, titles in French, Spanish, German, etc., only require |title=, |trans-title= and |lang=, because the languages use the Latin alphabet. Rowing007 (talk) 17:05, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

About the 2016 IAF AN-32 disappearance page

Hello, I have added this topic in the talk page of the i incident, but thought nobody would see it so I'm asking you since you were the last editor. My question is, now that the debris has been discovered and confirmed to be of K-2743, should we change the title to 2016 Indian Air Force An-32 Crash? I'm still new and don't feel confident about it, so if you can confirm, I'll go ahead with it. Also, there is a image of that exact plane parked at an AFB, but it seems to be from social media. Can you guide me whether we can use it in the article and if we can, how do we cite the source?(it's on X) AnalyserOP (talk) 09:36, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

I've moved the page Dora the Axe-plorer (explore) 11:34, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks, and about the picture, can you help me with it?
I just need guidance in citing since its been posted on social media.
And now that the crash has been confirmed, it'd be more relevant now to use the picture of the exact plane(we're lucky that it's available). AnalyserOP (talk) 12:13, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
I can't find any proper details about the image including original author, licenses, etc... I can't be certain the X account is the owner of that image. Dora the Axe-plorer (explore) 12:45, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
alright no problem. thanks. AnalyserOP (talk) 14:08, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

"Shimbum"

Hi, I noticed in several of your edits to 2024 Noto earthquake (e.g., most recently here) that you've been naming Japanese newspapers as "shimbum"; this is a misspelling. The works in question are spelled "shimbun". For example, Yomiuri Shimbun, The Asahi Shimbun, Sankei Shimbun, Mainichi Shimbun, Kobe Shimbun, etc. :) Best, Rowing007 (talk) 14:27, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
