Speedy deletion of Fdrsuite[edit]

This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, you may not know that Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did in SS Normandie, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Your continued insistence on making the same edits even after they have been challenged and you warned, is disruptive editing. If you make them again, you will be blocked. As inanimate objects, ship denominations in English require a determiner; and, if you follow the precedent set elsewhere in Wikipedia, you'll see that this is the case. In this very article, you'll find listed "the Queen Mary," "the Ile de France," "the Bremen." Only when preceded by an adjectival term, such as "SS", and only in limited instances, can the determiner be dropped. Any other usage is bad James Cameron via the movie "Titanic" and should be eschewed at all cost. Ships are not animate objects. The Wikipedia style enforcement has been very lax on this point, and should be tightened. If you would like to appeal this to higher powers, I would be more than willing to make my case to them directly, as historical precedent favors the determiner.

The usual policy of WP:SHIPS is not to use "the", see the guideline: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Ships/Guidelines#Referring_to_ships. We don't follow outside rules, we make our own Quote: "The" is not needed before the name of a ship. Oh, and by the way: "We don't follow outside rules we invent our own?" What pomposity. Why don't you just invent your own language then? In what English usage can you decide to use the determiner once, and then then omit it later? How does this sound: "I took the dog for a walk. Then dog decided to take a pee. Unfortunately dog peed on my father's favorite tree. Dog then decided to go back into the house, whereupon dog jumped in my lap an wagged his tail.." Is that the language you're advocating?

Cooper's Hawk[edit]

Can you provide a citation for your change to Cooper's hawk. It doesn't seem very neutral. Sabine's Sunbird talk 23:05, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The previous text isn't very neutral either; it was in fact misleading. These hawks were actively hunted by farmers as they were rapacious predators of domestic fowl. I live in suburban Boston and have had several Cooper's Hawks raid my coops and the coops of my friends. I would be happy to post very graphic photos showing a Cooper's Hawk in the act of gutting my chickens. This is a common experience for home fowl enthusiasts throughout the American Northeast, and becoming quite problematic. These birds were historically named chicken hawks for a very good reason, and denying that is contrary to the factual nature of Wikipedia.
