Your Teahouse question[edit]

Hello and welcome to WP!

About a WP-article about you. Maybe possible (I currently have no idea), but not easy.

First, check and consider the guidance at these links:

Still want to spend time on this? I may be willing/able to help.

Now, the important barrier is WP:GNG/WP:BASIC. So, what sources do you have that are at the same time reliably published (see WP:RS), independent of you (or your companies, your publisher, etc) and about you in some detail? This excludes google knowledge panel, blogs, wikis, online bookstores, your websites, interviews with you etc etc. If you can, link the 4-5 best you can think of, and I'll give you my opinion, can-an-article-be-made-wise. You can reply at this page, I'm watching it, but I'm not on WP 24/7, WP is a hobby. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:42, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Be aware that Wikipedia tries to dissuade people from attempting autobiography articles (see WP:AUTO), but does not prohibit. David notMD (talk) 22:07, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Gråbergs Gråa Sång, here's one.[1] Ms. Wilson, what we need are multiple articles like this. It's a lengthy story about you. For chefs/recipe developers/food writers, proving notability can be tricky because often we find mostly interviews, articles by the person, or recipe articles about one of your recipes, and for food writers in particular you've often contributed to a publication that covers you, which can be an issue in determining affiliation. What we need are articles about you, and you're in Shutesbury, is that correct? We'd need to see articles from outside of your own area, too. That is, multiple articles in the Boston Globe or coverage in your local area of Massachusetts aren't enough (unless they get picked up by other publications in other places). An article in a national industry magazine or paper would count. An article that that dealt with multiple of your recipes and only yours might count, if you weren't currently a contributor to that publication. —valereee (talk) 11:13, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

((edit conflict) with Valereee) As an example, this Dede Wilson has big plans for Bakepedia.com is the stuff we want. If there's more like that, there won't be much of a problem. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:17, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

gmta —valereee (talk) 11:26, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a second, but it's also from Massachusetts: [2] Does call one of her books a bestseller. —valereee (talk) 11:34, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, there's this: [3] but I don't know what Lioness Magazine is. Their site doesn't mention editorial oversight. —valereee (talk) 11:52, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This, also from MA:[4] It's about a local incubator but Wilson is heavily featured. —valereee (talk) 11:56, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This, but it's affiliated: [5] —valereee (talk) 11:59, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Valereee, I don't think BG and The Republican should be "minus-pointed" too much for being local, they're both noted publications. Here's some decent smaller mentions [1][2][3][4][5]. I'm willing to start a WP:DRAFT, (I'm thinking Dede Wilson (baker)), but I'd like to hear that I didn't scare away the topic-person first. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:04, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
lol, same. :D —valereee (talk) 12:26, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Makes me think of an SNL-sketch with Alec Baldwin... Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:38, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OMG that takes me back —valereee (talk) 13:54, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and Thank you[edit]

Hi, thank you so much for jumping in. I am afraid I am over my head and do not know what to do to help this along...or if I even can. When I look at the "other" Dede Wilson, it seems to me that I have as much if not more info than she that would qualify me for a page. But maybe I am wrong. This is HER: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dede_Wilson

I am trying to differentiate me from her, since the GOOGLE knowledge panel was messed up for so many years.

Can you tell me what to do next? I hosted 2 of my own PBS cooking shows, have published over 15 books (major publisher), non self-published and have been a spokesperson for major brands like KitchenAid.

I guess the first thing is to determine whether I am important enough to have a page, right?

Any help much appreciated and I do need you to be explicit because I find this place majorly confusing LOL

Dédé

At the time I'm writing this, there's an article about you, Dede Wilson (baker). We'll see if it lives. Now, per WP:COI you should not try to edit this article yourself, but you can leave suggestions at Talk:Dede Wilson (baker). See WP:EDITREQ for guidance. As said above, more good sources like Boston Globe can help. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:55, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

photo[edit]

Ms. Wilson, ideally we like to include images for all articles. If you have one you like that you have the copyright to, that would be great. Otherwise someone will no doubt eventually take a photo of you with their cell phone while you’re working or speaking somewhere, and often these are less-than-flattering.

All photos must be uploaded by the copyright holder — the person who actually took the photo — so that means we can't just use photos we've downloaded from the web. Would you or someone you know be willing to upload some photos they personally took? It’s a fast, free, and easy process. You just go to this page:

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard

and after that it’s just click and upload.

Name them something we’ll be able to search for — firstnamelastname1.jpg is a really good template -- and if you’ll let us know when you’ve done this, we’ll know to go looking for them.

IMPORTANT: If the photos are professional shots or already appear on the internet somewhere, the copyright holder will also need to also follow the instructions at

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Email_templates

Otherwise, the photos will be deleted, as Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously. I like to tell people that if they can take a brand-new selfie they like, that's often the best option because it won't have already appeared anywhere.

Leadimage[edit]

Dedewilsonchef&author, if you have browsed some WP-bios, you've noticed that some have an image of the person. Images can be nice. WP takes copyright very seriously, so we can't rip one from your website, FB, twitter or whatever.

But, if you're interested, you can donate one. Here's how.

Take a selfie, or have friend or relative take a picture of you. Then the person who took the picture can upload it with the process that starts HERE. And unless there's WP-editors who think it's bloody awful, it can be used on WP. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:29, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
