Ramona Milano[edit]

Hi

Although your input is appreciated your edits have caused a few problems on the Ramona Milano page.

  • "Ramona graduated from the Etobicoke School of Arts in 1987. Before entering the drama program at Humber College, she put her skills to use as a singer/dancer at Canada's Wonderland. After graduation, she worked 18 months for a Toronto advertising agency before going after a full-time acting career."

First of all we do not talk about people by their first name only. We use their surname.

Secondly we have references which are used to show that the material we have put into a page actually exists and is a bona fide fact backed up by other sources than our imagination or heresay. You have deleted a reference.

Thirdly you have inserted material which is not backed up by a reference. The four "facts" that you have introduced need references to prove they are facts. YOu need to find sources that are within accepted parameters which state the facts you are claiming.

  1. Humber college - need something that says she attended, a yearbook, a journal or newspaper etc.
  2. Graduated - similarly a yearbook, a newspaper or magazine or an interview.
  3. Canada's Wonderland - Proof that she worked there
  4. Toronto advertising agency - same as Wonderland, prove that she worked there.

The correct way of showing the information is as I already had it:

  1. "Milano" not Ramona
  2. Etobicoke School of the Arts - this links to a page on WIkipedia. Working links are blue and non working links are red. As you can see you have broken the link.
  3. ref name="WHOSWHO" is an earlier entry which is proof that she graduated from Etobicoke, taken from the Canadian Who's Who 2004.

It is true that the word "the" can be inserted to make "from the [[Etobicoke ...", and if you feel it reads better with the two the's in then add them by all means.

Please try and read some of the material provided in the welcome message (above) to understand how things are done If you have any questions I would be happy to help. Simply click here and leave me a message by clicking on the "new section" tab at the top of the page, or just add your message under here and I will probably see the change to this page.

I have moved the material to the talk page Talk:Ramona_Milano as biographies of living people must be kept to an extremely high standard of sourcing. The idea is that you say where the material came from and add it there before putting it back into the article.
As before, any question feel free to ask on my talk page. Chaosdruid (talk) 14:30, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Government College Ughelli requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Government_College_Ughelli. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —Anne Delong (talk) 02:49, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
