Purpose[edit]

When someone is obstructing you from making constructive edits, ignore them and go about your business. —davidh.oz.au 11:28, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really understand what this is trying to say. Unless a user says, "please don't cite reliable sources," I think this is either (1) self-evident or (2) promoting anarchy, depending on how it's interpreted. YechielMan 19:18, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I wrote it and I admit that is not an easy concept to grasp. To be honest, this concept came up on IRC one day about a month before the Essjay situation and I simply forgot about it until then. However, I didn't write essay with the intent to promote anarchy — I'm aiming more for the obvious logic behind ignoring other users per se rather than ignoring people only in specific cases. When it comes down to it, we ignore all users nearly all the time, especially so when an article's edit window is open. —davidh.oz.au 04:35, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think...[edit]

For me, this essay fits into the same category as Ignore all rules. There may be good intentions behind them, but to new users, they appear to contradict the aims of other essays, guidelines and policies. Therefore, they risk undermining them. Adrian M. H. 18:19, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
