AWB breakage

Hello David; I've reverted[1] this AWB edit[2] because it mixed up Midland Main Line and Midland Mainline, which are two different things. Please could you check+fix your scripts, and then (carefully) try again. Hope it helps, —Sladen (talk) 11:09, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

4/5 of the edits I have looked out (80%) have introduced breakage[3] of some[4] sort[5]. Per WP:AWB and WP:MEATBOT, please try to review pages and diffs before saving. —Sladen (talk) 11:17, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
I'm sorry to have mixed-up Midland Mainline with Midland Main Line. I'll have a look and see if there were any others like this, but all of the other changes you commented on were correct and were not breakages of the template, as I had changed the parameter name itself previously.--DavidCane (talk) 12:27, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
Thank for checking. Comparing the before/after renderings of the SWT articles, one renders "Main line routes serving this station" "" and one renders "Main line routes serving this station" "None". Do you know which is the intended rendering? —Sladen (talk) 15:49, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
The second one with the word "None" is the correct version, though I think it would be better if the template had been designed to just not show a heading where the station does not match that type.--DavidCane (talk) 16:28, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Baker Street tube station

Hi David! I know about the history of the "Big Four" railways but then I don't know how to shorten it at complicated initial stations such as the one mentioned. Vincent, The Big Four usually means that four mainline companies that were formed by mergers in 1923 following the Railway Act. None of them had any involvement in Baker Street station, although the pre-grouping incarnation of the Great Western Railway did provide some early backing for the Metropolitan Railway.
The current Baker Street station article is a mess. If you want to improve the article, I suggest you have a look at the history sections of the Metropolitan Railway article, as this provides background on the establishment of the company and information on how Baker Street became the hub of the line's network. A bit of that can be put into the Baker Street Railway article, but not too much. A structure similar to Euston tube station or South Kensington tube station may be appropriate. Stages in the development of the station would be:
  • Opening of the Metropolitan Railway - discuss the original character of the station.
  • Opening of the St John's Wood Railway - formation of the branch that eventually became the main route for the company into north-west London/Hertfordshire.
  • Opening of the Baker Street and Waterloo Railway - mention the location of the Leslie Green station (now demolished) around the corner of the main station.
  • Reconstruction/modification of the station in conjunction with the building of Chiltern Court apartment building above (architect Charles Walter Clark).
  • Opening of the connection between the Bakerloo line and the Metropolitan line to relieve pressure on the Metropolitan line into Baker Street.
  • Differentiation of the Metropolitan line's Inner Circle and Hammersmith and City route services from the remainder.
  • Transfer of the Bakerloo line's Stanmore branch to the Jubilee line to alleviate pressure on the Bakerloo line.
In any discussion of the station, you should also probably find space to mention:
  • The original mixed gauge arrangement to enable GWR trains to use the line.
  • The relatively well-preserved nature of the two original cut and cover platforms - restored in the early 1980s.
  • Junction between the Circle line/Hammersmith and City line tracks and the Metropolitan line tracks causes congestion.
  • The Metropolitan Railway war memorial.
  • The London Transport lost property office, which has been in Baker Street for many years.
  • The Sherlock Holmes branded tiling throughout the station and the Sherlock Holmes statue outside.
  • The various entrances from Baker Street and Marylebone Road including the one on the south side of the latter.
There are currently a number of broken references in the article where the link to the author in the bibliography is broken (e.g. Wolmar 2005 in the ref, but Wolmar 2004 in the bibliography.)--DavidCane (talk)
Oops, my bad. I should have mentioned what I meant by the Big Four is the current Big Four on the Underground, namely the Circle, District, H & C and Metropolitan. xD Wow! Grade II* listed buildings in Bath and North East Somerset

When you did a mass update on the references on this page (English Heritage to Historic England 3 April 2015) it caused the template_include_size to be exceeded. I have cured the problem by changing ref=yes to ref= for the Bath entries. The ref column is actually superfluous as it gives the same result as is achieved by clicking on the Entry no in previous but one column. Most if not all other counties have long since dispensed with the ref column.

If this edit bothers you then by all means undo the change but it means that unless you can identify the cause of the problem the refs will not be displayed anyway because of the technical problem I referred to above (which means nothing to me, by the way).

DLR Entry / exit data

Hi David. Great work on the tube entry / exit statistics. I've obtained through freedom of information request the up-to-date station entry/exit figures for the Docklands Light Railway for the calendar years 2013, 2014 and 2015. (see the links below).

I was wondering if you could assist at all with the coding mojo required to get these figures into the respective Wikipedia articles the way you did with the tube stations, so they can be entered into each article via the template?

I've entered one years information into a template at Template:DLRexits2015. Could you assist with adding it to Infobox London stations?
