August 2018[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Alberta Independence Party has been reverted.
Your edit here to Alberta Independence Party was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://m.facebook.com/groups/192539018010982?tsid=0.9068719361985091&source=result) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 01:37, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't add external links, especially links to Facebook pages, to Wikipedia articles. Item 12 of the external-links guideline specifically calls out "Social networking sites (such as Myspace, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram), " as "Links normally to be avoided".

Furthermore, you appear to have a conflict of interest with regard to Alberta Independence Party. NewEnglandYankee (talk) 01:57, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WE ARE THE ALBERTA INDEPENDENCE PARTY![edit]

I'm not in a conflict. I'm the interim leader and official register of the Alberta Independence Party with Elections Alberta. Dave Bjorkman (talk) 02:25, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

And we are an encyclopedia, with policies to ensure that our content is based on reliable, independent, third-party sources. One of those policies says: "If you edit articles while involved with campaigns in the same area, you may have a conflict of interest. Political candidates and their staff should not edit articles about themselves, their supporters, or their opponents." This applies to leaders of political parties even if they're not candidates. Please respect the rules and norms of Wikipedia.
The reason for this is that Wikipedia is a content aggregator, and not an originator of content, and strives to remain neutral about the content that it aggregates. Experience has shown that it's very difficult for people who are personally involved with a topic to dispassionately collect and summarize others' words about it. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because it appears that you are not here to build an encyclopedia.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:01, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You appear to just be here to promote yourself and your organization. You failed to heed the advice given above. As such, you will not be unblocked until you prove you are here to build an encyclopedia. Please explain what you would edit that does not include subjects you have a COI with.
