Hello Dave-okanagan. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I'm S0091, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge.

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:

Some common sense Dos and Don'ts:
  Do be bold
  Do assume good faith
  Do be civil
  Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
  Don't spam
  Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
  Don't commit vandalism

If you need further help, you can:
  Ask a question
or you can:
  Get help at the Teahouse
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles
  Perform maintenance tasks

Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates
Subscribe and contribute to The Signpost
Translate articles from Wikipedias in other languages

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your userpage.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

My Edits on the University of Cincinnati Baseball page[edit]

Dave, Hi I'm sorry and deeply regret all the edits I made on the University of Cincinnati Baseball page Friday, If you don't mind for future edits I decide to make will do them in my sandbox, then hit submit. Not Mad at you or nothing, I know what I did, my fault. If you want to look at my sandbox page, I corrected my dumb mistakes (corrected order based on other team pages) and added new stuff and sources. Let me know what you think, Hope you're not mad at me @ Bearcats_fan (talk) 06:52, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Vice president bust notes[edit]

Perhaps you could change the wording to reflect on how the bust doesn't have to be made before 1925 in order to be on the article if it never had a copyright to begin with Journey896 (talk) 01:32, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Language tagging "error" on article Mandaeism[edit]

Hello – I noticed you left a message on another editor's Talk page about my edits on Mandaeism.

I've left an explanation on that editor's Talk page here, but in short: messages that your browser may not display certain characters are a browser-based issue, not an error of Wikipedia's making.

Some browsers just don't have the right support for certain Unicode characters, but this is an issue that can be resolved on the user-end: please see Help:Special characters#Viewing.

The solution isn't, however, to remove foreign-language markup from an article. The templates {{transliteration}}, {{lang}}, and all of Wikipedia's foreign-language markup templates are vital to accessibility, under MOS:ACCESS and MOS:OTHERLANG. They ensure that visually-impaired viewers who use screenreaders have foreign-language text read out to them correctly.

These templates should not be removed; it's Wikipedia policy that non-English text be marked up, and if your browser cannot display those characters, then this is something that can, and should, be resolved with the help of H:SC.

I hope this helps; I spend a lot of time trying to make Wikipedia more accessible by adding language templates, and it is frustrating to see them removed for the wrong reasons. Thanks, --Ineffablebookkeeper (talk) ({{ping}} me!) 15:08, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Postman Always Rings Twice (novel), footnotes[edit]

Hi Dave - I'm trying to adapt the Hicks source to the updated Ref/Source I've edited. Still getting an error notice. The Postman Always Rings Twice (novel)

Jordan & Bek Ge'ez[edit]

Can you help the article adding an image as well; the notability of the article is on the name but adding an image the duos performing gives more liveliness to the article; sometimes we do not need image to "poor" or those kinds of articles but this is not that situation here, I guess; I am a 24 years old editor and beginner here; and if you cannot do it can you tell to somebody very experienced to do so ILYM22 (talk) 04:25, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Polaris[edit]

@Dave-okanagan: Hello. Regarding your e-mail:

at the end of the Lead - "outer pair AB were" makes no sense

Polaris triple system since 1929/2005 (Aa with Ab and Polaris B (Herschel-1779) is 18" away) I wanted to check with you since it was your edit 09:05 pacific time 15 September 2021

Dave 21:36 pac 04:36 utc

At the time of the original discovery, the Aa/Ab pair hadn't been discerned yet, so AB just refers to the original finding. It is the notation used by the Washington Double Star Catalogue. Praemonitus (talk) 04:52, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Second Violation of Article - February 2024 | EDI Wiki page edit[edit]

@Dave-okanagan: Hi Dave

Was there any reason why you missed the link to the page https://datatrans-inc.com/edi-856-advance-shipping-notice-asn/ linked from the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_data_interchange wikipedia page, since it seems blatant advertising? I am trying to understand if there is any clear reason you can show me as to why only edits by some of the users are being removed by other wikipedia editors such as you, even when those edits point to educational content - but why you miss those other pages? @Dave-okanagan: Hi Dave Any update on this?
