Death exemption in Texas abortion law

Hi. You need a RS that your claim is true. You can't interpret the law yourself, per OR -- e.g. there may be some other law that affects the application of the one you're looking at. Our primary source say that TX has an exemption for the life of the mother, so that's what we need to follow unless you find something better. — kwami (talk) 08:46, 25 July 2022 (UTC)

Ah, I found the law you cited on the template talk page. That's a very clear exemption at the end. Very close wording to similar laws in other states: Nothing in this chapter applies to an abortion procured or attempted by medical advice for the purpose of saving the life of the mother. That is, none of the penalties for abortion just listed apply if someone attempts an abortion to save the mother's life -- even if both the mother and the fetus die in the attempt. — kwami (talk) 09:04, 25 July 2022 (UTC)

The Wyoming Governor has five days to certify Wyoming's near-total abortion ban, after which it will go into effect after another five days. Wyoming's near-total ban will go into effect sometime in the next 10 days, according to the above, so likely by the end of the month of July. The most recent news articles that I can find on the subject—much more recent than those, which only say that it’s “poised” to go into effect, anyway—are indicating that the ban has not gone into effect yet and that there’s currently a lawsuit to block it. It was partly an independent effort. There is no direct source for Dallas Fort Worth presidential results and no source for greater Houston results. the data is based on adding historical election data from comprised counties as reported by the secretary of state's office.
