Mish-mash[edit]

The County Surveyor draft page now contains some old drafting and some new drafting. I am still trying to get used to the notion that the Wikipedia County Surveyor main page is the public face of Wikipedia and therefore needs to comply with Wikipedia corporate policy as defined in the Wikipedia Manual of Style. This problem is reflected in the number of critical flags the main page is attracting. I have therefore removed as much of my editing from the main page that I am currently able to, and pasted it here in my drafting page for review.

Drafting a new lede for the article[edit]

Today it is my intention to draft a new lede for the article, 'County surveyor', though I recognise that it will probably need redrafting when I finish the whole article. I envisage it consisting of four short paragraphs. The first will be the original US government stub, which Wikipedia asked editors to improve upon. The second will be about the US National Association of County Surveyors (NACS) and its recommended links, which I am surprised the original US government stub didn't mention. The third will be about the National Association of Counties (NACo) of which NACS is part, and particularly the general Overview and Histories it has published on its website, in reference to the 'scheme' of local governance that developed in the US. The fourth will be about the original county surveyors in the US and the implications about county surveyors generally that can be drawn from that evidence.

Must focus now on 'neutral point of view'[edit]

I have realised today that I have been overly-focusing on 'verifiability' to the detriment of 'neutral point of view'. What's been happening is that I have, inadvertently, due to my aspergers/OCD/ADD conditions, been seeking out verifications of a point of view that I have developed from synthesising my memories of my work experiences with literature and videos I have been reading and watching in the course of my research. This has resulted in my editing developing a bias. The fact that I have convinced myself of a direct connection between the office of County Surveyor and the fraternity of Freemasonry is of no interest to Wikipedia. But if I can find verification that people / organisations more authoritative than me believe that there is such a connection, then Wikipedia would be interested in that. Therefore I intend to start clearing by bias from the draft article tomorrow. I must now leave a tag on the user page to remind me of this intent. I'll be back[edit]

I have finished all the drafting I needed to do on this subject, so I'm considering deleting this draft page to release some memory space for wikipedia. If anyone has any views on my deleting it, please post your comments here on its talk page. I have a few more ideas about where I might be able to find additional information about the occupation of County Surveyor, but I'm preoccupied with pursuing other interests at the moment. So, I'll be back when my other commitments ease up.DadrianT,EsqMCIHT (talk) 22:59, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
