Let me chime in and say "Welcome" also. It is really hard for most people to get started in Wikipedia, in part because there are a zillion formal and informal/unwritten rules about contributions here, which you can't possibly know about in advance, but for which any perceived infraction can lead to lots of grief. :( You've done well with starting the Simon Bradstreet House article. One big thing I appreciate is your attention to sourcing, i.e. providing precise references including inline citations to specific page numbers. That is hugely different than most new contributors who don't appreciate how important that is to sensible ongoing development of any article. You are also doing well by choosing an interesting topic to start with, reflecting a discerning perspective you have. :) Keep up the good work!
If you're interested in historic sites more generally, please consider joining wp:NRHP (WikiProject that focusses on National Register of Historic Places sites and associated architects, etc., and/or wp:HSITES (worldwide, not as active). There's also Wikipedia:WikiProject Massachusetts. Whether you officially join or not, you are very welcome to post at the WikiProject NRHP Talk page, wt:NRHP, to ask any question or recruit help or whatever. There are associated resources at wp:NRHPhelp. And feel free to contact me at my Talk page any time. cheers, --doncram 17:24, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Simon Bradstreet House for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Simon Bradstreet House is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Simon Bradstreet House until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. J947 03:41, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I am happy to see that the AFD discussion is tending towards a "Keep" decision now. I am pretty sure that is how it will end, and you will be able to continue to develop the article without fear of it ever being put up for deletion again. Thank you for your contributing the article. --doncram 17:24, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I was mildly pissed to see that this article had ever been nominated for deletion. Keep working on it - the god-like closing admins don't count votes, they look for policy-based reasons, and at the current state of the article.
My tip - add what you've found out about Simon, Isaac and Chance (and any other inhabitants), backing up the info with references. (You already know how to do that - don't worry if someone slaps an {{inline}} tag on your article (that's a technical sort of thing, nothing to do with notability (i.e. whether or not the article should exist)).
I once helped a friend write his first article, about an early music group whose leader is IMO not quite notable (yet, anyway). After he had posted that article, and got it accepted, I created a redirect to it from the leader's name with the right sorts of tags, so that anyone searching for his name can find him. That could be a good way to go with the people you've found. Write them up in your article, and {{ping}} me if you would like help. Narky Blert (talk) 00:35, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
