I thought that edit was legit. I guess I was wrong. Woops Zonafan39 (talk) 18:14, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

No problem. It's nice to see an editor actually not freak out about a revert for a change. Happy editing --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 18:16, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Before reverting this user's contribution, I imagine that your exhaustive research uncovered the 11 other wikipedia articles citing that an individual was awarded the "Ronald Reagan Media Award". Since it seems that in these examples no one saw fit to immediately revert any mention of this award, that there is a contradiction here. Are you able to explain why Zonafan39's contribution needed to be immediately removed? If you feel it was correct of you to slap his wrist this way; will you follow up by fixing these other flawed articles? Here is the google search that will show you the other instances: "Ronald Reagan Media Award" site:en.wikipedia.org
I'm sorry if giving you that link seems to assume that you did not do your due diligence; that is not my intent at all. It is just that you may have lost that information and I'm saving you the trouble of what would doubtless be a duplication of your original work.
I'm eager to learn more about this process; I'm new to this and the process is fascinating. For instance, in my perusal of WP:LP I notice that it is encouraged to remove contentious information about living persons immediately if there is no valid source given. That seems very reasonable. Having it specifically spelled out that it is *encouraged* that editors should fix rather than revert where possible *also* seems very reasonable. I notice that this is specifically mentioned in many of the articles designed to provide guidance to editors. Of course, in this case it seems that the edit was properly sourced.
Please help us newbies out, we all want the same thing: To make Wikipedia better!
I'll be sure to watch this page (as well as those other offending articles) to see the magic happen. Zilla1126 (talk) 22:21, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
The award's "notability" seems to exist largely due to the efforts of a single-purpose editor who has added it to dozens and dozens of articles. After the posts were chjallenged, this account repsonded by adding a "third-party" reference that turns out to be owned by the USSA. The posts about the awards appear to be a clear case of using Wikipedia for promotional purposes. Hope this helps. --Ckatzchatspy 23:04, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Now i see what you other editors are getting at with this Susieq3140 character, since he/she did the same thing to the Kiana Tom article, as she did to the Bob Costas article (the link to the same award site). BTW, can anyone find a reliable source for Tom's birthday? Zonafan39 (talk) 02:19, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks again Zonafan. As for Kiana Tom, I did a quick search but all I could find was imdb. I'm not sure what's the accepted guideline on using this for a dob. Happy editing. --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 03:05, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

RE: Damien Jurado Our Turn to Shine

Are you sure this exists? Google brings back nothing, I couldn't find it on amazon.co.uk. I haven't seen it mentioned before and I'm a pretty huge Jurado fan. Thanks

--Omarcheeseboro (talk) 14:23, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

It definitely exists as I own it - it was exclusive for some indie record stores in the UK at least. Someone's updated the article to say that amazon.co.uk had it as well - I've no idea if that's true. MagicBez (talk) 20:44, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
just checked and the 2 disc version is in stock at amazon.co.uk at the time of writing.

It was late and ended up as poor phrasing based on the earlier content. I think it is clearer now. I added the page numbers. As for the analysis, top of page 207 says "It was the closest finish ever for a major outdoor race" so I think my rephrasing of that point (avoiding copyright) is apt.

I have been trying to find a copy of the photo finish instruction photo, which as an official with that specialty I have seen many times, posted on the internet. So far, not coming up. I've got a copy of it somewhere, so I may have to find and post it to add an additional source to that statement. Trackinfo (talk) 15:17, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Alright, thanks for the follow up. --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 15:22, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

B.M.- why i made changes

I meant absolutely no harm, i am a big cyberchase fan, and want to add what i know to the article. Thank you for helping me find out that Lisette St. Louis voices Ice, if i an wrong for any other voices, please edit. Sinse i know it is unvarified, i put a message at the top saying to please review and correct if wrong. I do not intend vandelism, i watched the episodes 'the haloween houl' (please forgive spelling mistakes), and Peace, Love, and hackerness. I got Kevin Drew and Jason Collett from voice recognission. I resently heard an interview with them, and i thought that it was those people doing voices on the show. The same went for emily haines. I know people can sound allike, it's possible, so please understand my good intentions on editing this article. Please look at List of Cyberchase characters and edit it if it is wrong, the next airing of peace, love and hackerness is on tuesday on your pbs station, and you can just youtube it. You can also youtube the haloween houl (please forgive mistake in spelling). Thank you, —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.112.104.172 (talk) 01:19, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Ok thanks and don't forget to read talk page guidelines so you know what to post on talk pages and not in the actual article.

UNC Tar Heels Football

As a UNC alumnus

The editing I made where amendments to the University of North Carolina football & moreso university information.

Please note amendments were made including the university colors. Navy is an alternate university color of UNC

Secondly, "Tar Heel Born & Bred" is the official fight song for the university though UNC has officially over 4 widely used fight songs. "Tar Heel Born & Bred" is most often used and played. "Here Comes Carolina" though a 'fight song' is usually used as athletic teams enter onto the field or court at the start of athletic competitions. "Tar Heel Born & Bred" often referred to as "TAG" is the most widely accepted and played fight song at all sporting events

Lastly in-lieu of a NCAA probe, I don't think mentioning a on-going probe sheds any positive light on UNC football in a information realm. The investigation has not been completed and much is heresay in terms of facts. So why mention its relevance in terms of POSITIVE INFORMATIVE information useful for general public use. —Preceding unsigned comment added by OldWell (talkcontribs) 20:16, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

I am sorry about reverting other info that was correct. As far as the investigation - it is information that has been covered by a third party reliable source. Wikipedia is not concerned with whether or not information is positive or negative. --CutOffTies (talk) 20:20, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

my edits and their well meaning

204.112.104.172 (talk) 20:30, 4 August 2010 (UTC) I will leave a please review notice, but i do not want any more vandelism notices when i edit cyberchase pages. You haven't watched the show, so i will help you learn about it if you need it, just leave a message on my talk page. I will get an account and tell you its name soon. I cannot see, so i cannot read the end credits, so my voice credit items on wikipedia pages are relied totaly on voice recognission, and i do not make up names. My most resent change credits T. Sturgeon as the voice of punksy. She was on YTV's spy academy. If it is not T. Sturgeon, put who it is. About that, please look at where i put the phrase voice credit tba, and find out who voices the givven charactors. Thank you.,. Nasty Nestor's Controversy Section

I have a bone to pick with you. I appreciate you undoing WNST's section blank, but I don't think it's appropriate to strip the "Controversy" section down to two short sentences. The previous section "Free the Birds" has 15 sentences, yet the event made little impact.

On the other hand, Nestor's fight with Keith grabbed the attention of thousands; KTCK is the #1 ranked station in the nation's #4 media market. Keith is one of the town's most talked-about personalities, and his fight with Nestor generated a great deal of publicity. By my count, the story was republished in 7 different forums.

This incident forever altered Nestor's public image. It deserves more than two sentences. Whether you'd like to trim down my version, or expand yours, either way is fine - but regardless it deserves more than two sentences.

As for your removal of the sports blog source: no, the sports blog is not a national media outlet, but they have actual video of the incident. The source's journalistic credibility doesn't matter if we're relying on their raw unedited video, not their written content.

Biscrosh (talk) 17:18, 5 August 2010 (UTC)biscrosh

Please read the policy on biography of living persons and in regard to sources, reliable sources. Blogs/forums are not to be used as sources, particularly for biographies of living persons. Also read the policy on youtube --CutOffTies (talk) 17:44, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi Ties - just got a chance to read the material you suggested. I think I see the reason for your revisions.

I've found another copy of the video posted to YouTube, with none of the blog's content: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=871WONRsvm8. I'd like to post this along with the sentence "The incident was broadcast live on KTCK's morning show and web cam. (citation)" Let me know if this will work - and what the proper way to cite a YouTube clip is.

Help!

Okay, I will read the guidelines info. I thought that it would be better to cite info that had already by documented from an actual article.

I like the page on Michael, but there is NO information about his charity work, and that is a big part of his NFL life. I am going to read how to glean information, and what is actually an acceptable source, then I will attempt to repost the information correctly.

I know that many children's lives were touched by Mac's Miracle Fund, one year we took 450 children shopping at WalMart, and Michael came with his Wife and Daughter, and followed the kids around during their shopping hours, it was hilarious hearing the choruses of 'Uncle Michael' coming from all corners of the store! What wasn't so funny was young girls using their $50 gift card to buy sanitary napkins, diapers and toys for their brothers and sisters who were younger than them, and food products. That is why it is important to restart some of the charity ventures we were hard at work on when Baltimore PAL closed down. Because there are now even more children, maybe even children from our programs with children, who need our help.

No one is perfect. But when you have many instances of benevolence over years, and there is no mention of it, it makes it easy for incoming players not to put as much personal time into their charities, and simply write a check. It is that important to add to the information about Michael, because it was important to him. As I said, we are trying to bring some of that programming back to Baltimore, and this will give it more credibility and bring to remembrance the importance of trading on the name to help others.

Any assistance you would be willing to give me would not only be appreciated, but welcomed. Thank you for pointing me in a starting direction, and I will check out those points of information. Golem4246barc (talk) 19:24, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

I really don't need all this info. After you determine what you want to add and after reading the tutorials on how to properly add content to the article, if you're still having a problem, let me know the specifics and I'll help out. You don't need to share all these details with me. --CutOffTies (talk) 20:14, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry about the edits to Ray Lewis's page. It was an accident. I got the Twinkle gadget and I don't know what I pressed... Sorry. CJISBEAST (talk) 16:47, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

Musicians

There's nowhere in Wikipedia policy where it's explicitly forbidden to categorize individual musicians that way, although it obviously doesn't really make sense from the perspective of categorizing topics by what they are. I've reverted both; in truth, I'm not really all that convinced by the user's reasoning. Looking through year categories is a useful way to search for new music to listen to? Not the way I listen to music it isn't. Bearcat (talk) 05:32, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Hey CutOff, your rollback edit didn't actually fix the cite error, it just hid it. The cite error only became visible after I fixed the previous formatting error. I was locating which ref was missing the tag when you made your edit. I've restored the original light copy edit that you removed as it definitely improved the text. Best Regards, Mark 124.150.42.98 (talk) 02:46, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I couldn't figure out exactly what was causing the error, so I reverted to keep the visible cite error out. I'm glad you were able to figure it out. --CutOffTies (talk) 09:32, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I really don't have anything to add.. I was originally just trying to stop the back and forth editing. I did vacation in BC earlier this month, and met a guy in Nelson from Osoyoos. He seemed annoyed when I asked him about the desert. Then I met some other girls from Kelowna who said that it gets 40 C there, which seemed a bit odd. Of course, this has nothing to do with the article. Good luck --CutOffTies (talk) 00:49, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Please stop putting the article about Dick and I filing bankruptcy. It is emotionally stressful and is causing health issues for me to have this out in the public. It is having an effect on our business as well. It does not benefit anyone to have this published on his page. I am asking for you to please not add this to Dick's page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Precious2006 (talkcontribs) 21:32, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

You show no understanding of basic editing concepts such as sourcing and no original research. I would suggest studying these before continuing to edit. --CutOffTies (talk) 22:06, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

I will continue to remove the article. You are a coward to not tell me who you are. You are an uncaring person to not respect our wishes to not post the sentence regarding the bankruptcy. You are not sorry about our health problems, otherwise you would remove the posting. Dick is in the hospital as I type right now. I hope for the day we meet in person so I can say these things to your face. You are not benefitting in any way with having the article posted. If you cared so much about Dick's page, why did I spend hours correcting many factual errors? If you cared about Dick, which you don't, you wouldn't post the information. you have my contact info, feel free to man up and contact me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Precious2006 (talkcontribs) 12:27, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

not ownership, just trying to share my knowledge

I'm not trying to own the article, i'm saying that i would rather someone disguss with me about the character of Emma penguin before they go deleting it. I spent over 20 hours trying to find this stuff out, and i don't want people to just degrade it by reverting it and saying "it's not true because i don't believe it". Emma penguin is a charactor that will appear in the new christmas episode of cyberchase, snowing in the winter. She is a penguin that is chosen to be the leader of the snow celebration. She is chosen by her grandma, who is now too old for the job. She went to school with the hacker, and got a mark of "genius", while hacker only got a "good" grade. For this, Hacker is trying to get revenge on Emma for trying to melt the snow of penguia. Maybe watch the show if you don't know what i am talking about. I have watched the show from the beginning, (8 years, wholey cow!). I didn't make this up, i assure you. As for her voice, I'm not sure if it's louisa pepe or Jessica Kartos, but i know for sure it's either of the two. I found more about louisa, and she has had roles on attomic betty, and what's with andy. Cyberchase tends to have canadian tallent, whcih is nice, as i am canadian, and might go on the show one of these days. Please respect the fact that i did hard research to find this out, my friend and i were up all night on a school night (highschool). I wanna make wikipedia better too, and try to move away from august and move into a bigger, brighter future. Please respect what i did to the article, she's just a character in an episode that hasn't aird yet. that's probibly why you don't believe me yet. Due time friend, peace out! -- N.I.M. 204.112.104.172 (talk) 03:10, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

took a long time

It would take me another 20 hours to find that sight again, but i promice you she's a real character. Like i said, if it sisn't Louisa Pepe as the voice of Emma, it's Jessica kartos. Please stop reverting it, it's a true character. If i find the sight, i'll be more then happy to find it. For now, you can contact the two voice actors and ask if either voiced a character named Emma Penguin in cyberchase, you'll get a yes. Do you have any suggestions how i can present this character, sinse her episode hasn't aired yet? 204.112.104.172 (talk) 04:15, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

I did put Emma in a section i created called "future characters". how's that? By the way, how do you view the edit history now. Alt+h isn't working for me, and as i have a screen reader, i can only use my keyboard. -- N.I.M.204.112.104.172 (talk) 04:27, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

The Real World:Boston

I may have cleaned up that passage, but I did not originate it. However, even back in the 90s, people had pagers, or beepers, and you could send text messages on the small LCD screens on them. (I take it this was before your time? :-) )

There was even a scene in an episode of the first Real World: New York in which Julie Gentry jokingly asked housemate Heather B, when she got a beeper alert if she dealt drugs (because back then, beepers were perceived as something largely used by drug dealers), and a similar scene occurred in an early episode of the following season, in which Jon Brennan asked the same thing of David Edwards, and Brennan even referenced the scene from the prior season. Nightscream (talk) 16:25, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm thinking of text messages in how they are commonly received now, on cell phones, but as you say, it's possible she received one via another medium that was commonly used back in the 90s. --CutOffTies (talk) 16:29, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Blogs

To quote Wiki's article on reliable sources ""Blogs" in this context refers to personal and group blogs. Some news outlets host interactive columns they call blogs, and these may be acceptable as sources so long as the writers are professional journalists or are professionals in the field on which they write and the blog is subject to the news outlet's full editorial control."

This "blog" was a professional journalist on cbs sports' website. Please study policy a little further before trying to school others in order to alleviate as much confusion as possible. Thanks --74.83.46.100 (talk) 23:47, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

It is wiki policy to source rather then simply get rid of something. Especially if the material can be easily sourced. Thanks --UhOhFeeling (talk) 16:06, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Btw, the sock information you keep harassing me with is not really relevant. I believe just about every time I forgot to sign in I went back in and signed any comment to reflect that it was from this user. None of the policies against sock puppetry has anything to do with the few accidental edits I have made as an IP. Let me remind you that the only reason we are having this discussion is because of your misunderstanding of a policy. I would suggest you study policy further before harassing other users.--UhOhFeeling (talk) 16:09, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

DC and contributions

Greetings! Please excuse this intrusion on your talk page, and allow me to invite you to participate in the newly-formed Wikipedia Contribution Team (WP:CONTRIB for short)! The goal of the team is to attract more and better contributions to the English Wikipedia, as well as to help support the fundraising team in our financial and editing contribution goals. We have lots of stuff to work on, from minor and major page building, to WikiProject outreach, article improvement, donor relations, and more—in fact, part of our mission is to empower team members to make their own projects to support our mission. Some of our projects only take a few minutes to work on, while others can be large, multi-person tasks—whatever your interest level, we're glad to have you.

If this sounds interesting, please visit WP:CONTRIB and sign onto the team. Even if there does not appear to be anything that really speaks out as being work you'd like to do, I'd encourage you to join and follow the project anyway, as the type of work we'll be doing will certainly evolve and change over time. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me, or ask on the team talk page. Regards, DanRosenthal Wikipedia Contribution Team 02:56, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

As an aside, I'm also a local DC Wikimedian. We'd love for you to attend the next DC meetups. I'm specifically contacting you as you expressed interest in the Campus Ambassador position, and both the DC Wikimedians group and the Wikipedia Contributions Team have a lot of interest in working along with the Campus Ambassadors. You can reach me on my talk page, or by email at drosenthal@wikimedia.org with questions; I can't guarantee that I'll be checking back on your talk page often enough to hold a sustained conversation there. Thanks for joining the contribution team! Could you take a look at Wikipedia:Contribution_Team/Backlogs? We're trying to make a big effort to reduce these for the rest of the month. Thanks! SWATJester Son of the Defender 20:51, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up. A Fact tag isn't exactly appropriate for non-notables, but I did not know what else to use for the tag. I'm glad to know the proper warning. Plazak (talk) 03:08, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

DC meetup

It was great to meet you at the DC meetup on Wednesday! Thanks for adding your name to the attendee list -- I'm not good with names :( We are discussing when to do the next meetup on Wikipedia talk:Meetup/DC 14. I hope the dates are good for you, but do let us know. --Aude (talk) 17:24, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

george

hey, didn't i tell you who it was C.O.T? you fail to recall the messages i left? obviously you are a negative user, and think everything is POV, well, your life is what's POV if that's what you think, and your ways are all made up if you think i'm lying, in other words, maybe think of that possability. You have to learn to except that you're not always right, which is an unavoidable fact. sorry, but that's the way it goes. and if i catch any mention of George's mishaps on my computer, or mention of the name used from that novvle, then i will have a complaint written up. I will only except one reply to this, and it is an appology. You should be ashamed of yourself, in fact, i'm ashamed for you. You need help, and it just so happens that i know someone who can help you, in baltimore. I can contact her for you and see what she can do. I was there this summer in june, and i was chatting with her as she is a relative. Appologize and forget George's mishaps for once. I told you, the name "Annika is from a novel we did in school two years ago, why he chose that name i'll never know. Pay attention, and stop bringing up the edit, or you will deal with other admins. It's okay to want wikipedia to be safe, but to falsely accuse me of making those edits is below you i'm sure, unless you are a no good immoral piece of crap. I am sure you are not, so by saying "You are not a no good immoral piece of crap, ", i am saying that you shoulden't just assume it is me just because that was my address at the time. N.I.M. Thanks. I knew as soon as it was posted on a football forum, it was going to be open season for the anonymous users to let the rumor mill fly. After a couple of reverts, I figured I better call for protection because it wasn't going to stop. --Rapier108 (talk) 03:34, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Read and consider

Warmongerer, a person who starts wars. I am telling you in a calm way again, that i know for sure that it was my friend George, (i don't have permission for his last name), who was on my computer over the summer and a little ways into october. I don't care how rediculous it sounds. i want you to consider it, carefully, think. think. think. think. think. Harder, can you proove that I was the one making those edits, just because George and i have bad spelling and grammar? We have similar interests, how do you think we became friends? Stop, and think. Is there anything you can considder about what i said to be possible? Can you proove beyond the shadow of a doubt that I made those edits? I'm a person who always likes to have complete evidence, and mear archives of George's warmongering is not a good example for me. Do you have any witnesses? Do you have anyone who knows who is at my computer? Do you have spies ready to say "N.I.M. made those edits."?, if not, then you have no reason to make those accusations, and say they are true, that's hearsay, and i will not be blocked just by hearsay. You better find evidence that i mentioned, or you have no further reason to ever mention the George and his made up character ever again. I found out weeks after the last edit, and made the connection. My history had lots of wikipedia pages, and when reading edits about Annika, it all became clear to me. George and i read a novel back in grade 9 english, and there was a character in it named Annika. I believe that this is where he got that name from. Hey, nobody's perfect, but you can't keep bringing it up as if you are right. I may have unintentionally caused edit wars, but you're not exactly an angel from heaven. You better appologize for your false accusations by wednesday, or you will deal with complaints about you. I have been trying to tell you for a month, and you would not listen. You do not have the right to make those accusations, and if you ever do this again, you will be the one who gets blocked for false accusations, and getting people to gang up on me to support said accusations. I have heard a lot of cock and bull storries on Judge Judy, and this sounds exactly like on e of them. If judge judy heard the case, he would dismiss your claim and say " This person has made it clear, that he did not make those edits on wikipedia, so you have no reason to accuse him any further! case closed!" If you care about wikipedia, then you will write a formal apology to me on my talk page. Adam bishop and Cresix are being ordered to do the same. N.I.M. (talk)03:30, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

friendly notice

Hey cut off ties, Can we put the past behind us? What george did was beyond my control, and i probibly shoulden't have let him use my computer. Can we please not use that against me? it's the october block that can be used as evidence on me, as that was actualy me. Can we at least be aquantences with a friendly approach? No more arguing and bickering? N.I.M. (talk) 09:22, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
