Help me![edit]

Please help me with... Recently an editor, on a location page for the city of Jamestown, NY, changed the name of the city mayor to use his nickname, from Edward to Eddie. I was going to undo the edit but when I checked the mayor’s biography page was also created using the nickname. Using a nickname or alias instead of their actual name sounds biased, informal and too familiar. I think both pages need to be corrected but I’m not sure how to change the name or title of a page. The first thing you should do is discuss the issue on the Talk page of the articles in question (though starting with just Sundquist's page would be a good start). If there is no opposition to changing the title of the page, it will be moved. If you think there needs to be more discussion, you can start a move request. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 17:45, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If I might point out that according to WP:COMMONNAME, the name used is what is most commonly used in the available sources. So we have Bill Clinton instead of William Jefferson Clinton, and it might be Eddie Sundquist instead of Edward Sundquist, depending on what the sources typically call him. While it may seem like informality or familiarity, it's not considered a form of bias.
The Eddie Sundquist page itself may need to be examined for notability according to WP:NPOL. A certain amount of discounting is done of reporting on political campaigns and if that is all the sources that can be found about him, it's possible someone will nominate the page for deletion. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 19:42, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your help. I hadn't considered your point about WP:COMMONNAME. When I further reviewed online sources for the city and county, his nickname is used about half the time. So I guess his page name is fine as-is. Crazyloop NY (talk) 21:55, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
