Hello. I was wondering if I could request a clarification on the 'reads like an advertisement' tag for the California Council on Science and Technology? Thank you. --Mdd820 (talk) 19:06, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

No problem. I have tagged the article because I feel it reads as an advertisement does, and may not adhere to the NPOV policy of Wikipedia. For more information on this, please refer to WP:TONE and WP:SOAP. Thanks for your understanding, and happy editing! Cheers, --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 19:26, 3 July 2008 (UTC).
I believe that I have removed all of the descriptors that could be perceived as offering a qualitative judgment. Could you please advise whether the article has achieved the appropriate level of neutrality? Thanks. --98.215.40.146 (talk) 21:27, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
It looks fair from here. Now all it needs is a little cleanup and it'll do fine, just make sure you wikify it sufficiently. Cheers, --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 21:33, 3 July 2008 (UTC).
Has it been wikified sufficiently at this point? --98.215.40.146 (talk) 22:54, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes. :-) Excellent job. --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 01:25, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. --Mdd820 (talk) 16:42, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Happy Independence Day!

As you are a nice Wikipedian, I just wanted to wish you a happy Independence Day! And if you are not an American, then have a happy day and a wonderful weekend anyway!  :) Your friend and colleague, --Happy Independence Day! Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 00:45, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Sweeney Todd

Hi Mizu - I was just wondering where you wanted to take this article next. Hopefully we've now done enough to get it through the GA review, but I think if we're going for FA, one of the points raised may be that the article over-uses direct quotation. It's perfectly possible to rework these into prose (with the same sourcing), but of course it will mean another copyedit. What do you think? EyeSerenetalk 12:58, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Serene, thank you so much for the work so far! If you're up for another copyedit, I won't mind doing it again! :-)
I'd really like to see a recent film reach FA. There aren't enough of them out there right now, sadly. Are you sure you want to do this again? If you're up to another labourious copyedit, I'm ready!

Greatest of thanks! --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 21:17, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Heh - it's a rare article that's perfect after just one c/e, and very rare if it's one I've done ;) It's no hardship though, you're welcome! EyeSerenetalk 08:24, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

WP:HAU, Status, and you!

As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible) system - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. This message was delivered by xenobot 22:38, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

The traditional rfa thank you message

Thank you for the support!
Coralmizu, it is my honor to report that thanks in part to your support my third request for adminship passed (80/18/2). I appreciate the trust you and the WP community have in me, and I will endeovour to put my newly acquired mop and bucket to work for the community as a whole. Yours sincerly and respectfuly, TomStar81 (Talk) 02:53, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Editor Review

Guess who FINALLY got one review!!! :D

L337*P4wn 04:42, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Congrats. Not a bad review, BTW. --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 07:34, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

RfA

It's quite alright! It's when you, (and the public), think you are ready. Talk to you later! L337*P4wn 23:54, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

No, don't worry about that. I'm still a little concerned (but who isn't at RfA), but I'm running as planned tomorrow. Sorry about that, I know how annoying it is sometimes for a rapid "never mind" again and again. Cheers, --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 23:57, 9 July 2008 (UTC).

Wait...what? The RfA starts tomorrow? 0_0

L337*P4wn 00:00, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Actually... (looking at your timestamp) Today. Remember—the tenth of July! No problem if you're too busy as it is, but just a reminder. :P --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 00:03, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Psshhh, like I'd have anything else better to do. So, do we start now?

I'm metally time-insane... >.< Forgive me.

L337*P4wn 00:06, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

I have no clue who's nominating now. Is it you, or my coach? As soon as we get this straightened out, it can start. --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 00:11, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Heh Heh. Alright! Tell me what we decide, so I can co/nominate you! L337*P4wn 00:16, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

My coach wants to nominate me. Would you mind co-nominating, L337p4wn? Don't forget to sign your posts! --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 00:18, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

That's fine! Let's do this! :D L337*P4wn 00:21, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Ready! L337*P4wn 01:27, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

I wish you hadn't withdrawn

I left a note on the talkpage of your RfA. I wish you had let it run a bit. In my brief look at your history here, I was impressed, and I think others would have been as well. One way or the other, I have now watchlisted this page, and I hope you reapply again soon. Keep up the good work on the project. We need more editors (and admins) like you. S. Dean Jameson 03:16, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

  • I'm disappointed in the result of your RfA, but I suspected it might happen. In my short time participating in these, it seems that there's often a bit of "follow-the-leader" that happens when higher-profile (and good faith) editors like Ryan and Wisdom oppose. While I wish they had waited a day or so to place those opposes, I respect their opinions, even while disagreeing with them strongly about your current suitability for adminship. I do hope this won't discourage you from standing for adminship again soon. You're a solid candidate, and we need more administrators with your disposition and talent. Best regards, S. Dean Jameson 11:47, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Your RfA

Hey Mizu. Please don't withdraw your RfA just yet - I think you have a real chance to succeed and I probably will be in the minority. Just give it 24 hours? Ryan Postlethwaite 03:16, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't think I can un-withdraw. But if I can, I will re-open, just ot see how it goes; I just felt that Wisdom was right, and I probably do neet more experience yet. I'll try and re open the RfA shortly. --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 03:19, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Ah, thanks for the response, I put a notice up asking people not to close it - I'll make sure it's fully open again. Ryan Postlethwaite 03:22, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
  • Ryan, do you think that "un-withdrawing" might be counterproductive at this time? While I think she would have succeeded if she had not withdrawn, I can envision people !voting "oppose" saying something like "withdrawing and unwithdrawing shows poor judgement." This to me would be a bit nonsensical, but I could see it happening. S. Dean Jameson 03:21, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Your Rfa/a smile

I've seen your Rfa, and have given my 2 cents. I was going to support, but I saw Ryan's and Wisdom's diffs, and they bothered me enough to oppose. Even though I'm opposing this Rfa, I would like to see you try again in the future. I believe you have potential to be a great admin, but right now isn't the right time because of a few issues. Have a nice day, and keep up the good work here:-)--SJP Chat 04:57, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

I've archived this for you... I'm sure you'll do better next time :) Good luck for the future! weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 07:24, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, WBOSITG. I'll make certain I have much more experience before I run again. Best, --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 22:33, 10 July 2008 (UTC).

Oh Well...

Better luck next time! You had an okay run. L337*P4wn 08:38, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

I apologise Mizu - I honestly didn't expect it to go down hill so quickly. I would never have asked you to carry on if I did. I expected it to gain far more support. Really sorry :-( Ryan Postlethwaite 11:34, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey, do not let this get you down, I think you are a great resource for the project and have learned very quickly from any early mistakes you've made - and absolutely none of those are anything major. Get a few months more editing under your belt, and I'm sure your next nomination will be a success! In addition to your fine mentor, I'd be happy to help you in any way I can, just drop a note on my talk page or email. Keep your spirits up! Dreadstar 15:37, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Don't worry about it, you guys. Again, I've seen worse RfA's, and although this was not one of the better ones, it was not nearly the worst. On the other hand, now I know what to work on before attempting to go for adminship again. If you have any more tips to help me improve I'd be very grateful! Thanks, --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 22:28, 10 July 2008 (UTC).
"I've seen worse RfA's" Sure, like mine, for instance? I didn't get a chance to drop my two cents on your RfA (I saw it right after it was posted, but had to run out to meet some of my new co-workers for dinner), but I would have supported you for sure. As others have said here, don't let it get you down! I'll be on the lookout for your next attempt! Cheers! --Winger84 (talk) 07:15, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

I've smiled at you because you are a great user who is an amazing asset to the project. And someday, you'll be an even more amazing admin. Keep up the great work! MBisanz talk
Thanks, MBisanz. :-) I appreciate your support, although I need much more experience yet. Cheers, --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 22:25, 10 July 2008 (UTC).

You've got the right stuff

Hey Mizu - missed all the drahma, but I have to say I think you made the right decision. Your RfA might have gone on to pass, although I think if I'd seen it I too would have had doubts about supporting on the evidence given (though I probably wouldn't have opposed either). Adminning is all about demonstrating good judgement, and while some of your past calls were a little off, in withdrawing I think you've proved you can make the right call even when it must be personally painful for you. You've shown your quality, and you're only a bit more experience away from making a fantastic admin. Be sure to let me know next time you're up (that's not a WP:CANVASS vio, btw; I'm explicitly requesting it!), and if you ever need anything in the meantime...

PS: If you need a break from our throat-slitting barber for a while, no worries. Just drop me a note ;) EyeSerenetalk 17:04, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

(Lol) Thanks for the chuckle, ES. ;-) It wasn't nearly as stressful as I thought it would be, but I figured I might as well withdraw when I got that much criticism (after all, I obviously wouldn't make a good administrator with all that criticism aimed at me), but I was convinced by a couple editors to "un-withdraw" (an even bigger mistake). I then re-withdrew when it was apparent it wasn't going to succeed. I think I'll run in about four months or so, maybe more—whenever I'm ready for the mop. I'll let you know when I run again, but to avoid the accusation of canvassing altogether, you could always just watchlist this as S. Dean Jameson did!
By the way, I still have energy for another copyedit if you do. :-) I wish I were better at doing it, though, then perhaps I could get the next few articles I'm working on to FA myself. :P
Best! --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 22:24, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Heh, you're doing very well - and no matter how good one is, another pair of eyes always helps ;) I'll be inactive over the weekend, so we'll pick things up next week. All the best, EyeSerenetalk 11:42, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
No problemo. We'll get back on track once the weekend's over then. Thanks for the encouragement, --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 23:43, 11 July 2008 (UTC).

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Good job on getting the article to GA status! Well done -- Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 03:30, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I owe a lot of it to EyeSerene, however. Best, —Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 19:30, 12 July 2008 (UTC).

My RFA Thanks

Thank you for your support at my RFA, which closed successfully. I will do my best to be a strong asset to the project, once I have gone round and thanked all the participants. Times like this I wish I knew how to do decent HTML graphic templates. Ah well, guess it's the hand-typed and personalised thank you letters instead... Seriously though, your support means a lot, and I won't let you down! (I hope) StephenBuxton (talk) 21:19, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Wow, that's unexpected and very thoughtful of you. It's unnecessary - it's been a real pleasure working with you - but much appreciated. Thank you, and congratulations on the GA ;) EyeSerenetalk 09:15, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

No problem (I just thought it'd well merit a good star), and congratulations to you as well. Just as a note, I'll be away myself for most of the day, but should be active tomorrow again as usual. Cheers, —Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 16:27, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

GO FOR vs Gofer

Actually, I think I can make a case for GO-4 being a way to say "Gofer". A "gofer" is someone who does little jobs for their boss. - Denimadept (talk) 21:17, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, you're right; I shouldn't have changed it, it's original research without sources. As long as you can find references for "gofer" (or even "gopher", as some have done), I'll have no problem with it in the article. So far I can't find any reliable sources, though... —Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 21:22, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Enjoy... - Denimadept (talk) 22:20, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
(Lol) thanks for the interesting read, but what I meant was reliable sources for the notion that GO-4 is a play on the term gofer. Without refs to substantiate the claim, it's OR. —Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 23:03, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
No, it's just obvious. At least it is to me... - Denimadept (talk) 00:42, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
That would make sense considering how the character acts. No problem, but don't be surprised if another editor objects per WP:NOR. I'll try to find references, just in case. Cheers, —Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 00:47, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

RfA thank you

Thank you!
Coralmizu, it is with deep awareness of the responsibility conferred by your trust that I am honored to report that in part to your support, my request for adminship passed (87/14/6). I deeply value the trust you and the Wikipedia community have in me, and I will embark on a new segment of my Wikipedia career by putting my new tools to work to benefit the entire community. My best to you, Happyme22 (talk) 03:22, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Re Your comment about me and RfA

Thank you for your comment. I appreciate that you were just as perplexed as I was regarding Macy's accusation and request to have me stay away from RfA permanently. I never understood where that came from and thought that it was nothing more than an over-exaggeration to rather innocuous comments. Wisdom89 (T / C) 07:15, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

No problem, Wisdom, I'm sure I'm not the only one whom believes you are a useful asset to RfA. By the way, I wanted to thank you for your comments at mine; it doesn't matter whether a !vote is supportive or an opposing, but whether or not the comment was constructive and helpful. Rest assured I will be much more careful both at NPP and UAA, and will be more prepared by the time I run again. Cheers, —Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 07:25, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Username concern for User:Kennyhotz

Hi,

I noticed that you recently placed the {{subst:uw-username}} template on User talk:Kennyhotz. You did not, however, use the extra parameter to this template to specify a reason why the username violates policy. To me, and probably others, it is not clear what you think is wrong with the username. In the future, please use {{subst:uw-username|your reason here}} in order to tell the user the reason you think their username violates the username policy. Thank you. Is he back? (talk) 11:48, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Apologies, and my mistake. The reason why I did not use an additional parameter is that I was posting the notice in behalf of another user who posted at UAA (believing it was somehow deceptive or misleading), so to help them out, I posted the note on Kenny's user talk page. Next time I'll use another parameter to avoid confusion. Thanks, —Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 23:56, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for voting in my RfA, which passed with 90 support, 2 oppose, and 0 neutral.
