Information icon Hello, I'm Blakegripling ph. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Blake Gripling (talk) 02:45, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Magitroopa (talk) 04:30, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What edits have I done that are considered “disruptive”? The last couple of edits I’ve been making were the recent announcement of THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SPONGE ON THE RUN coming to Canadian cinemas on August 14th. How are they disruptive? Cody Fearless-Lee (talk) 04:51, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

We go with either the worldwide or American release date. Also, Twitter isn't a reliable source. Nate (chatter) 19:38, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

August 2020[edit]

Please stop making test edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Template:Disney's live-action adaptations of animated franchises. It is considered vandalism, which, under Wikipedia policy, can lead to being blocked from editing. If you would like to experiment again, please use your sandbox. FilmandTVFan28 (talk) 02:09, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@FilmandTVFan28: Could you at least tell me how to make a new group in a template? I'm trying to do that for the live-action remakes that are exclusive to Disney+. -- Cody Fearless-Lee (talk) - 1:22PM - August 12, 2020

Unspecified source/license for File:THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE - SPONGE ON THE RUN (Exclusive Canada Engagement).jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE - SPONGE ON THE RUN (Exclusive Canada Engagement).jpeg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Film posters[edit]

Hey! Thanks for uploading the new poster for The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run. Somethings that I needed to modify and things you might want to keep in mind for the future:

  • Try to upload new versions of posters to the same file as the old one. On a file page, there is a link under File history that says "Upload a new version of this file". This allows editors to see the history of the file, including if an older version needs to be recalled in the future.
  • Make sure that if you are uploading poster images, or anything that is not a free image, that you include a Non-free image use. This states where the image came from, who owns the rights, and why we are using it. These are required per Wikipedia's image use policy. There are many templates that can help fill this out, including {{Non-free use rationale}}.

Let me know if you have any questions! BOVINEBOY2008 11:06, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Magitroopa (talk) 23:18, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Magitroopa: I tried using the IMDB cast list as my source, but don't know how. Could you show me how? -- Cody Fearless-Lee (talk) - August 19, 2020 - 7:22PM
You cannot use IMDb as a source (see WP:RS/IMDb/WP:Citing IMDb). Also see WP:FILMCAST. Magitroopa (talk) 23:24, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Magitroopa: But, what about people like me who saw the movie? -- Cody Fearless-Lee (talk) - August 19, 2020 - 7:27PM
Audience testimony is considered WP:OR and thus could not be relied on. We aim for verifiability, not truth. The sky is blue, and that's an obvious fact everyone can agree on. So is the Pope being a Catholic. However, many statements need to be verified before we include them on the wiki to make sure that people can vouch on what we add or edit. We hold things to a high standard here fam. Blake Gripling (talk) 00:03, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Let's put it this way: Anyone can claim that they saw or killed the Loch Ness Monster, and would go so far as to provide evidence to it (see photo). Problem is that all of this can and will be fabricated. This is why reliable sources from those who are able to thoroughly verify the existence of such a monster e.g. scientists and biologists are important rather than just witness testimony. Also, this is why the Sicilian Mafia has this rule on having a trusted third party vouch on a member to another member: No one can present himself directly to another of our friends. There must be a third person to do it. Blake Gripling (talk) 00:27, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To both Magitroopa and Blake Gripling, who edited the cast list of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run with all six celebrities and their characters' names? The movie only came out in Canada, people like me have seen it, and the two of you explained to me why not to do what I did. The fact that all six celebrities and their characters' names have been re-edited in now seems pretty hypocritical! -- Cody Fearless-Lee (talk) - September 29, 2020 - 11:13PM

Disruptive editing? A lot of these Pixar movies are comedy-drama films. What like Up, Toy Story 3, Inside Out, or The Good Dinosaur didn't make you or anybody you know cry? -- Cody Fearless-Lee (talk) - September 29, 2020 - 7:43PM

It's not about what I think as you call it. It is fact. Where can I find sources of people crying at Up and the Toy Story movies? -- Cody Fearless-Lee (talk) - September 29, 2020 - 11:06PM

Unsourced or poorly sourced content? What are you talking about? Mulan didn't play in theatres in both the United States and Canada, so it qualifies for the category Films not released in theaters due to the COVID-19 pandemic. - Cody Fearless-Lee (talk) 10:33PM - October 10, 2020
Read the category inclusion criteria at Category:Films not released in theaters due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It says nothing about United States and Canada and film has had a wide theatrical release in some countries. Also it had a theatrical release March 9, 2020 in Hollywood as explained in article. Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Cody Fearless-Lee, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Soul (2020 film) have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. (CC) Tbhotch 02:02, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please note WP:FILMPLOT recommends that plot length should be 400-700 words. Your recent edits to Candyman (2021 film) have pushed the plot section a little over that limited range.

WP:FILMPLOT also states "Mid- and post-credit scenes should generally not be included in the plot summary." The simplest way to bring the Plot section back within the recommended length would be to remove the credits scene. Alternatively if you think the credits scene is an essential part of the plot you will need to shorten some other part of the Plot section to make room for it.

I'd remove it myself only there was so much persistent vandalism that I asked admins to lock the article (an anonymous editor was edit-warring and massively bloating the plot section beyond 1000 words and forcing the credits sequence into the article). If no one else removes it I will probably do it myself in a few days when the lock expires. -- 109.79.162.117 (talk) 23:15, 16 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:Firestarter-2022-poster-1294x2048.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Firestarter-2022-poster-1294x2048.jpg. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Vladlen Manilov / 17:30, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Alfred Molina as Otto Octavius in Spider-Man 2.webp[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Alfred Molina as Otto Octavius in Spider-Man 2.webp. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page.
