FYI[edit]

We do have an article on all mayoral candidates. The article is Ottawa municipal election, 2006. --Deenoe 15:45, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re vibrators[edit]

"Why the single mainded persuit of one fringe application? cmacd 02:01, 24 August 2006 (UTC)" Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Vibrator"

There is a lot of vandalism on Wikipedia. There may not be anyone who cares to watch the vibrator article and defend the non-erotic content. I discovered that some electronic vibrator material had been added and deleted when I was following up on material the same editor added to the Motor-generator article. I added non-erotic material to the vibrator article not realizing that other such material had been removed. I am not really interested in defending the vibrator article. Another editor has suggested making vibrator a disambiguation page linking to several other articles. --C J Cowie 13:47, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would agree with this, I have gotten a bit discouraged..
I would agree that the topic is so multi-whatever that doing at as a disambig page linking to vibrators (electronic), vibrators (concrete), vibrators (paper handling) etc would make sense to mecmacd 12:15, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I've noticed that you've made a number of edits to filmmaking-related articles and was wondering if you might be interested in joining WikiProject Filmmaking. We're always looking for enthusiastic new members. Look forward to your future edits! Girolamo Savonarola 20:29, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have been "lurking" on the articles realted to electronic tubes, Filmmaking, and the Ottawa Area. I have not wanted to "officaly" join any group, as I am never sure how much time I will be able to apply. cmacd 02:11, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BC in Canada[edit]

Hey, thanks for the note about agility for BCs in Canada. I knew there was a ton of politics around it, but glad to see they have a place in the AAC. As a Canuck in the US who will go home someday, it's good to hear. CMacMillan 20:18, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I've restored the Intelligence of Dogs, but left the speedy notice that was already on it. It's a bit borderline, since it says nothing about the book other than reporting the results, and, crucially, there is no comment on the results - they are just presented uncritically as gospel. jimfbleak 15:21, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your vote to keep on the article on their children, but they have put this one (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Parents of the Prime Ministers of Canada) on AfD as well. -- Earl Andrew - talk 19:10, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tube bias[edit]

Tubes in audio amplifiers usually oprate in push/pull mode where each tube seves the positive and negative side of the signal. That means one of the tubes in a pair is always 'idle', in which case it requires an idle current, which is usually called the bias. But I may have mixed up my biases. --Edokter (Talk) 14:51, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In a push pull amp, both tubes have a cathode to plate idle current, which is set by the plate votage, and the Bias on the grid/and or cathode. (the bias is the difference in voltage between the cathode and the grid so it can be applied at either location.cmacd 15:34, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could use your input...[edit]

You seem versed in all things electronic. I am trying to track down the half rectangle shaped bridge that one uses to fool an RCA jack into thinking htat something is pugged into it. It does not have the collars, but simply plugs into the interior of the male receptacle. Thoughts?...Empacher 20:58, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RCA jacks seldom have any switch to tell mechnicaly if something is pluged in. Phone jack freqently do. Will just puting a blank unwired plug do what you want? they can be obtained at radio parts stores.cmacd 01:20, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:NE1951Logo NationalService.png[edit]

Hello, I am a (relatively new) user registerd on the french WP, contributing to an article related to this company. I would be interested to use this historical logo of Northern Electric. I can check with more experienced users if/how it's legally possible to use it on a non-US WP (for instance putting it on "commons"?), but before I would like to have your view about this idea and maybe have your permission to use it (as I understand you are the person who has digitalized this picture)? Thank you

fr:Utilisateur:Mudares

Since it is a logo, it is technicaly "non-free", you certianly have MY permission to use it elsewhere on wikipedia in all languages. You would have to follow all the rules as to where and how as persumably Nortel has an interest under copyright and trademark.cmacd 19:37, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FILMS Questionnaire[edit]

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
