My $.02 on the major intersections for US 50[edit]

Hi Christopher, FYI, the reason why their is controversy about junctions in the infobox for U.S. Route 50 is a space issue. There is only room for about 8-10 or so in the infobox, before it starts to take over the article. So the question is which 10 junctions are the most helpful to the reader. It becomes a sliding scale. For short highways we can list all the junctions in the infobox. But for a transcontinental highway, we have to get selective. At WP:USRD (The U.S. Roads Wikiproject) they had a vote about this a long time ago. The rule of thumb adopted at the time was that for transcontinental highways, start with the major interstates (ending in 0 and 5). Depending on how many of those junctions exist from a given route adjust from there. Because the wikiproject has had to battle with new editors constantly adding minor junctions, thinking this is a comprehensive list and "you forgot one", it has led to some in the project getting fast with the undo button. This is unfortunate, but sadly unavoidable. Usually if you make a case on the talk page as to why a junction should be listed, it will stick. Dave (talk) 02:41, 12 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Moabdave. This is Christopher Thompson I’m new to Wikipedia. I’ve seen what you said to me about the US 50 page. I just wanted to add a junction just so we can have more junctions. I wasn’t trying to mess up anything. But I feel like adding I 70 at the junction list is because it’s also a major highway in the US. Although it doesn’t seem like it’s a big junction, I didn’t felt it would’ve been wrong to add stuff to the list. But thanks for telling me. I promise I do not want to violate anything on any page Christopher Thompson (talk) 22:04, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, just wanted to say welcome. I get what you're saying about wanting to add I-70 to US 50's junctions. Typically, for east–west roads like US 50, we list the north–south intersecting roads and vice versa, so hopefully you can see why I-70 wouldn't fit in. The only other hard and fast rule about infobox junctions is the 10 junction limit, otherwise be BOLD and don't worry about screwing up. You can always drop us a line at WT:USRD or our talk pages. –Fredddie 23:00, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You have nothing to apologize for. Welcome. As Fredddie suggests, swing by WT:USRD and say hello, that's the talk page where a lot of editors interested in US highways co-ordinate our efforts. Dave (talk) 16:22, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ok then. Thank you. Christopher Thompson (talk) 19:03, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Does US route 90 have a junction At I-95 in Jacksonville, FL? Christopher Thompson (talk) 04:28, 27 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Should we add more junctions to the US 50 list?[edit]

I think we should add more junctions to the US 50 list. Christopher Thompson (talk) 23:30, 4 April 2018 (UTC) Dave(talk)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Giga Map requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Could I create my own private page. Also, how do I create charts? Christopher Thompson (talk) 19:42, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a private/personal page.[edit]

Could I create my own private wiki page? Also, how do I create charts? Christopher Thompson (talk) 19:44, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You can't create a page just for personal use, that has no relevance to Wikipedia. If you want to create a draft article to publish later you can use WP:DRAFT. What kind of charts are you trying to create? ... discospinster talk 20:12, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You know on the pages about the highway’s major junctions; for instance, (I-75). How do you create the heading where it says major junctions? I’m trying to practice on how to create advance edits. Do you know which page is a good place to practice. Does this make sense? If not, please tell me. Christopher Thompson (talk) 20:17, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

For practicing you can use your sandbox at User:Christopher Thompson/sandbox. If you're referring to the infobox on Interstate 75 that shows the information about the highway, you would use the markup at {{Infobox road}}. Or you could copy the markup from the I-75 article and paste it into your sandbox, and just change the information. ... discospinster talk 20:48, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, it’ll do. Thanks for the advice and I won’t violate anything from this site. Christopher Thompson (talk) 23:17, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

STOP ADDING I-94 to the I-35 MAJOR JUNCTION LIST.[edit]

I wanted to start this conversation to complain that everyone should stop adding I-94 to the I-35 junction list. The reason is because I-35 as a whole does not interact I-94 in the Minneapolis Multiplex. Just like how I 35 as a whole does not intersect interstate 20 and Interstate 30 in the Dallas-Fort Worth multiplex. I-35E and I-35W are treated as two different highways, even though they’re basically parts of I-35, but we don’t count interstate 94 as a junction of I-35 because it’s only intersected by I-35E and I-35W. We can always find a tenth junction of the Highway, but for now this doesn’t count. I tried to edit it like how I want to by being BOLD but a week later someone changes the edit and now I feel like it’s necessary to create this talk page.
