Clan MacIntyre article[edit]

Hi, I just noticed the compliment that you left on the talk page for the Clan MacIntyre article. Thanks for the encouragement! I was planning to contact you in any case to thank you for the illustration of the MacIntyre clan crest badge that you had created and contributed. I am going to do a bit more research on a couple of aspects of the article at the Library of Congress and then I guess I should ask that it be rated again. I am a novice editor and while I think I have got the basics down, I was wondering if I might occasionally ask for your assistance. I hope to do some work on a couple of other Scottish articles, as well. (Could you please respond on my talk page.)--Tomaterols (talk) 14:39, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again. In the meantime I am doing some work on the Scottish heraldry article. The first section still needs revision as it appears to be somewhat disjoint facts someone put up. In recognition of your contributions in the area of the clans, I have selected the Clan MacLachlan crest badge to illustrate Scottish clan crest badges. I'll leave it to you whether it's time to take the stub label off the article. I'll be back for some guidance when I get the rest of the material, some of which won't be here until late June.--Tomaterols (talk) 19:46, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again. I need an experienced editor's opinion. You have probably noticed that in many cases I have cited more than one source in the Clan MacIntyre article. I have done so by creating a separate footnote for each source. I just realized that it is possible, under the system I am using, to put more than one source into a single footnote, which is the way it would be done in the nonWiki world. It seems to work fine, technically. I am thinking of combining the multiple sources but before I go to the effort to do so I wanted to know whether you thought that would be desirable, or if there is some good reason to leave things as they are. The original painting of the Chiefs coat of arms is coming along nicely and I should be able to add it to the article by the end of June. Thanks for your help.--Tomaterols (talk) 22:32, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent! This is exactly the kind of help I need. I had been wondering whether there was a better way to handle the references in notes too. I had looked at the Wiki article on it but couldn't figure it out. Next time you're in the neighborhood check out the reformatted Clan MacIntyre article. (I went back and changed all the note tags, not just the ones with references, so they would be consistent.) I may have to ditch note 4. All the parallel versions I can find are in self-published works. I'll put something on the article talk page to see if anybody else has a reliable source on this tale.
I notice that Czar Brodie has added a (rather large) template to the end of the article. A newly created template, I think. I have been expanding the Scottish heraldry article. Should that be included in the template under the "Culture and society" section? Thanks again.--Tomaterols (talk) 14:39, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
