List Of Retired Pacific Typhoon Names Edit[edit]

Hi! I have been waiting for the WMO to release the replacement names for Vongfong, Linfa, Molave, Goni, and Vamco. The WMO has not announced the new names yet, so could you revert it so that Each storm name is TBA/ To Be Annouced? --GDFilbert (talk) 00:09, 6 March 2022 (UTC)GDFilbert[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Prince António of Orléans-Braganza[edit]

Hello, CarterStormTracking,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Pppery and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Prince António of Orléans-Braganza, for deletion, because a consensus decision previously decided that it wasn't suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If you wish to restore a page deleted via a deletion discussion, please use the deletion review process instead, rather than reposting the content of the page.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Pppery}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

September 2022[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Elijahandskip. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to 2022 Atlantic hurricane season have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Tropical Storm Hermine has not been confirmed in a NHC advisory yet, therefore, it is mis-information (and unsourced information) to add it. Yes, I know it has a 99% chance of being TS Hermine, but until confirmed, it is not, so please stop adding it and reverting me. Thank you! Elijahandskip (talk) 19:50, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

bruh[edit]

how about you stop, because ATCF literally confirmed it 10L HERMINE 220923 1800 18.2N 20.3W ATL 35 1002 there you go, theres my evidence, now please stop

ATCF is not the official source of tropical information for the Atlantic Ocean. (I saw it as well, hence why I am not really mad.) Just wait until NHC since that is what Wikipedia uses as the official source of information. Elijahandskip (talk) 19:55, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

NOW they named it, so we can stop arguing

Retired Names[edit]

I would strongly suggest that you read the WMO Tropical Cyclone Operational Plan for the South Pacific and the South-East Indian Ocean as both Cody and Seth are clearly listed as retired on pages 24/28. If you would like further proof, I would suggest that you read Page 18/19 of the Final report of the RA V Tropical Cyclone Committee - 20th session which further confirms that Cody/Seth were retired. There is nothing I can do about the naming lists on the BoM/WMO's website being out of date, but be proud that Wikipedia is more upto date with our tropical cyclone naming lists than either Website. Jason Rees (talk) 11:53, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Interestingly, I have just picked up an email out of the blue from a BoM TC forecaster, who confirmed that Seth has been retired and replaced by Stafford.Jason Rees (talk) 16:30, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
ok i didnt read the plan, i now know that they were retired, lol. CarterStormTracking (talk) 17:13, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Weather: Map Dot & Template/Infobox Colors[edit]

Dear project member, This message is being sent out to encourage new ideas and feedback on those proposed in regard to the colors debate for WikiProject Weather. For those who are unaware of what's been happening over the last year, I will give a brief summary. We have been discussing proposed changes to the colors of the dots on tropical cyclone maps and templates and infoboxes across the entire weather project in order to solve issues related to the limited contrast between colors for both normal vision as well as the various types of color blindness (MOS:ACCESS). We had partially implemented a proposal earlier this year, however, it was objected to by a number of people and additional issues were presented that made it evident this wasn't the optimal solution. We tried to come up with other solutions to address the issues related to color contrast, however, none of them gained traction and no consensus was generated.

We need your help and I encourage you to propose your own scale and give feedback on those already listed. Keep in mind that we are NOT making a decision on any individual proposal at this time. We are simply allowing people to make proposals and cultivate them given feedback from other project members. Please visit our project page for additional details. The proposal phase will close no later than December 31st at 23:59 UTC. NoahTalk 04:00, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hamoon[edit]

Hamoon is 45 rn... The 50 is the forecast for 00z while 45 is the initial intensity at 18z. Please see the RSMC bulletin and TCAC. TBH both agencies gave horrible estimates but we have to live with it. I have Hamoon as 85 knots 1-min for 00z for my estimate. Noah, AATalk 23:37, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ye i agree the estimates both agencies gave are pretty bad, but its really a case of dvorak not catching up
yeah IMD this is totally T3.5 and JTWC this is totally T4.0 CarterStormTracking (talk) 01:24, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's not that. It's just that both agencies are estimating too low on Dvorak. 18Z was 4.0 and 00z was 5.0 for SAB. Noah, AATalk 02:12, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
