Disruptive IP

As you requested, the other IP is 70.188.24.125 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). Though he was blocked mostly for extensive edit warring over bare feet, his uncivil behavior and sockpuppeteering were also factors. He hasn't changed. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 10:11, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Couple things

Caribbean H.Q./ Archive 5, there are a lot of Dragon Ball-related redirects that should be deleted:

  1. Dragon Ball Canon (appears to be a recreation)
  2. Fusion (Dragon Ball) (appears to be a recreation)
  3. Genki Dama (appears to be a recreation)
  4. Capsule Corporation
  5. Let's try try try
  6. Makafushiki adobencha
  7. Makafushigi adobencha
  8. Dragon Ball DVDs
  9. List of Dragon Ball DVDs
  10. West City (Dragonball)
  11. Dragonball Special Techniques (appears to be a recreation)
  12. Let's fly fly fly
  13. List of Dragon Ball Episoes
  14. List of Dragon Ball manga chapters
  15. Dragonball special techniques (appears to be a recreation)
  16. List of Dragonball Special Techniques (appears to be a recreation)
  17. Capsule core
  18. Greatest quest of all
  19. The greatest quest of all
I'd tag them, but I don't really wanna go through the trouble. Perhaps you can just delete them? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 00:08, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
I will delete some later tonight, but there are some that could serve as legit redirects. - Caribbean~H.Q. 21:52, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks man. Though I don't see any potential redirects, I'm sure you'll do the right choice. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 04:16, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
What should be done with the leftover ones? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 14:39, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
I will not touch Genki Dama yet, but I recomend AFD, this is a plausible redirect but not a very solid article. Capsule Corp. is probably a common search item since its featured on the entire series, as is Fusion on Z and GT. - Caribbean~H.Q. 14:48, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Scouter (instrument) is a recreated link of Scouter (Dragon Ball). TTN redirected the page recently but I don't think it's plausible. Your thought? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:34, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Can you delete Wiz (anime character) and its talk page? The character exists in the D.N.Angel anime AND manga so the link isn't needed. I have as well taken care of all redirects (except the one in an archive, which shouldn't be changed). A similar case happened to Astro Boy (manga character). Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 18:28, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
I won't touch that article since I'm not familiar with this particular anime and can't judge the capacity that it may have to develop in a encyclopedic article. - Caribbean~H.Q. 20:26, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Found more possibly useless redirects:

  1. Dragonball Zeta
  2. Doragonbooru zetto
  3. Dragon-Ball Z
  4. Irony in Dragon Ball Z
  5. Head-Cha-La
  6. Head Cha-La
  7. Garlic Jr. Saga (should it redirect to another saga?)
  8. Garlic Jr. arc (should it redirect to another saga?)
  9. Garlic Junior Saga (should it redirect to another saga?)
  10. Garlic Jr Saga (should it redirect to another saga?)
  11. Dragon Ball Cast
  12. Dragon Ball Voice Cast
  13. DragonBallZ
  14. The Resurrection of the Dragon
  15. Z Sword and Talk:Z Sword
  16. Son Gokuu (Dragon Ball) (?)
  17. Son Gokû (Dragon Ball) (?)

  19. Goku (dragonball) (we already have Goku)
  20. Neko Mazin (wtf?)

  33. Saiyan Hero (wtf?)
  34. Hero of heroes (wtf?)
  35. Goku (Dragon Ball) (we already have Goku)

  37. Genki Dama (Spirit Bomb and Spiritbomb were deleted, may as well get rid of these)
  38. Spirit bomb (Spirit Bomb and Spiritbomb were deleted, may as well get rid of these)
Let me know if I'm bothering you too much, ok? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:12, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
I will look at these later, probably tommorow since my account will be logging out soon, but beforehand I can tell you that Dragonball Zeta is quite plausible since its the main traduction to spanish in both Spain and Mexico. - Caribbean~H.Q. 02:24, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Looks like someone did a copy/paste at Mopreme / Mopreme Shakur. Can you combine the histories to avoid the edit history loss at Mopreme? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 17:07, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Just wondering, when can you take a gander at the redirects? I have just added a few more. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:25, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Suspected sockpuppetry of user Rothchild

I filed a report of suspected sockpuppetry here: Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Rothchild. Since you're familiar with the previous incident involving Rothchild and blocked him/her indefinitely, I thought you should know.

Now I see the user has reported ME for suspected sockpuppetry. This is rich! I hope this person gets banned for good.--Skylights76 (talk) 07:44, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

I will take a look at it. - Caribbean~H.Q. 21:54, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Don't worry, it was some old report unrelated to me. He just put the notice on my talk page to try to get a rise out of me.--Skylights76 (talk) 22:15, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Update: I had a longish stretch of time to work on Félix Trinidad, and I think I'll stop now until and unless you're ready for me to do more work after the scheduled bout is over.

The article remains somewhat rough in spots, but there have been a number of corrections to grammar and spelling. I likely could do more, but we've probably reached the point of diminishing returns for now, especially since I have limited knowledge of boxing. I'll wait and see how the upcoming event draws in new editor input and content (I just noticed an advertisement for the upcoming bout on television yesterday, never would have noticed before working on this). I hope your road to a future GA article is a smooth one. (copied to your talk page) -- Michael Devore (talk) 01:48, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Oops, forgot to mention that if there were any changes I made to the article which you don't like, feel free to revert them. There were several sentences with awkward phrasing that I didn't like and replaced with phrasing that sounded better and still fit without tearing things up. These changes tended towards stylistic in spots and you may not like the style. Expunge as desired. -- Michael Devore (talk) 02:01, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Miguel Cotto

Hi Caribbean.

I happen to be the mother of Miguel´s youngest child. As indicated in the guidelines for the publication of information on this site the information in question should be correct and verifiable. According to our daughter´s birth certificate she was born in November 2007, not February. I am merely correcting the information published so that it reflects correct information according to the only document that has any legal validity to confirm our daughter´s date of birth in order to ensure that the information published adheres to Wiki´s policy of Correct and Verifiable information.

I´ve the information on COI and it doesn´t apply. There should be no problem with correcting false information.

I can forward a copy of our daughter´s birth certificate so that you can avoid publishing misleading information.

In regards to the inforamtion on the Order that was dismissed due to the lack of grounds to sustain it and perjury, eliminating this information in fact is beneficial for Miguel, afterall, this type of information serves no purpose that enhances his profile. I believe that the information published should reflect his victories in his career and the highlights of his life. An act of perjury is not exactly favorable for anyone.

As for the use of the term illegitimate, I am not sure what your knowledge is regarding our legislation and constitution, but under either, that term is not valid. In fact it has been eliminated all together under our legal system. Any child that, regardless of the circumstances of his or her birth is recognized by his or her father is a legitimate child. To describe it or communicate it in any other way goes against what our legal system has established.

If information about third parties, who have a right to their privacy, is published it should at the very least be truthful and correct.

Please contact me if you have any questions. Hopefully this will provide you with some insight as to what you should take into consideration when publishing information about private citizens. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Acrlaw (talkcontribs) 16:22, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Caribbean,

I can scan the birth certificate and forward it to you if there is a way to e-mail it to you directly. I have no issues with sharing the information with you but I would prefer not to upload it on your discussion board since it is only FYI.

I have a pretty good collection of the highlight reviews for Zab's fights as well as earlier ones. Is that information that I would forward to you as well to upload?

The issue with the court order is that it was a big hit with the headlines when it should not have been such a public ordeal. It was not a positive situation for either of us and the outcome was minimized because I chose not to pursue any further action and press charges for perjury which is a criminal act in Puerto Rico. Truth be told, we will always maintain a relationship through our daughter and pursuing something that would affect him adversely at that level is something I wasn’t comfortable with.

That’s why I feel that publishing this situation on a page that should provide information on his career and shed light on his success, serves no real purpose, for anyone. Just because it made the headlines doesn’t mean it’s worth repeating, particularly when the story behind it is very different from the biased opinion that was presented.

Let me know where I can forward the information as soon as possible. I would like to have information corrected.

And feel free to contact me if you have any questions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Acrlaw (talkcontribs) 19:01, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Caribbean,

Thanks for the info, I'll scan and send the document over the weekend. Look it over when you get a chance.

In the meantime, enjoy the time you spend in "real life" . —Preceding unsigned comment added by Acrlaw (talkcontribs) 19:11, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Goku page

Can you semi protect it? It's been targeted by anons and newcomers (in a bad way). Ah, did you see my reply here? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 22:31, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Its seems they are adding dub language, I can't really justify protection unless there is clear vandalism there, this is more close to a slow moving content dispute and those are usually best resolved by discussing it with the other user. - Caribbean~H.Q. 03:27, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Matt Sanchez bank account claims

Hi, As Bluemarine is less likely to calmly explain this...he has had an another editor, User:Wjhonson, build an off-wiki look-alike page with much more detail including basic info like birthdate, legal names, address, parents name which would be quite useful to an identity theft pro. As that site is not wikipedia there is likely little wikipedia can do. Indeed most links to that site have been removed but for your info you can see it here. Perhaps Matt is truly confused that the two sites are related but that wikipedia in no way controls the other. Again I would exercise caution but if nothing else there's little harm in offering good resources for identity theft victims which Matt has claimed he has been before. Benjiboi 15:06, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

That clears some of the smoke here, but from the looks of it this has become a off-wiki harrassment pattern wich certainly complicates the case. - Caribbean~H.Q. 15:13, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
I've felt similar concerns but it seems that User:Wjhonson is a veteran wikipedian who actually has helped write some of the very policies we use. Although I feel uneasy about that site myself as it seems to cross a line, I do understand some of the motivations behind its use as well as similar sites that have been highly critical of Sanchez. I believe Wjhonson added themself into the Arbcom case. Benjiboi 15:21, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure what to think of Wjhonson's work on that page, to me it looks to intrusive to serve as a fair biography, and while I know that he is a established user he was apparently blocked for doing something simmilar in here before. - Caribbean~H.Q. 19:41, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes, as I stated, at best I'm uneasy about it - looks as though Arbcom is sorting through it all and myself and others are working to ensure the article itself becomes as accurate as possible so eventually it will be addressed and maybe even a line added to policy to clarify whether such links also violate the BLP policies. Benjiboi 04:46, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Your copyedit request

On 27 August 2007, you made a request to the League of Copyeditors for a copyedit of Héctor Lavoe. Because of a heavy backlog and a shortage of copyeditors, we have been unable to act on your request in a timely manner, for which we apologize. Since your request, this article may have been subject to significant editing and may no longer be a good candidate for copyediting by the League. If you still wish the League to copyedit this article, please review this article against our new criteria and follow the instructions on the Requests page. Help?

I warned The T (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log) about his re-addition of certain categories to redirects. He may not seem to get the point, still, what would you suggest? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 18:44, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

He has received explanation of this before [2], his behavior has been perceived as disruptive by more than one users and he has received a final warning now, so if he continues a short block might be in order. - Caribbean~H.Q. 21:13, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
How is that "explanation on this before"? I've had two single people commit seperate edit wars. That's the only explanation I've "received". And neither has shown how to resolve the issue or explain what policies are even being broken. The T (talk) 16:26, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Regardless, you need as well the community's approval because not everyone agrees with you. I kind of see your point with this, but warring will only incite disruption. We can still go back here and discuss, in a civilized manner of course. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 18:04, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Putting it simple T, you have disrupted the project to prove a point, it doesn't really matter if you are right or not, users have expressed concern over your edits and you choose to edit war instead of discuss it. - Caribbean~H.Q. 18:36, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
I am not the one starting edit wars. I have posted my point of views in discussions, and the only response is a "No, you're wrong" without any backing response. Then said part goes on with their edit war. I have still seen no reasoning behind reverting the categorization of these articles. The T (talk) 20:31, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

End of planet earth

Why do you keep expressing ten-to-the-ninth as simply "109" instead of the correct 109 that the anon. editor keeps trying to enter? I see some other minor differences in paragraphing, is it something there you are objecting to? Could this be discussed on the talk page for the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Loren.wilton (talkcontribs) 06:29, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah that was a unnoticed mistake, the anon was actually reverting a figure that said "five days" or something of the sort, I was trying to restore the unreferenced template that was removed without explanation. - Caribbean~H.Q. 06:36, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Roberto Cofresí‎

Hey mi hermano, Como estas? I see that you added some great stuff to the Cofresi article. If it were someone else, I would reverted it because of lack of references, but since it is you my trusted friend I just wanted to remind you to not forget to provide the references before someone else comes along and tags the article. So, como estan las cosas adonde tu vives? Tony the Marine (talk) 19:40, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

  • I saw this, today: [3]. I see that it contain some of the information added in the article, only thing wrong is that this is not a reliable source. Tony the Marine (talk) 21:42, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
  • That is great. Add the book as a reference. I have some information in regard to Cofresi' real father and early live which I will add sometime during the day. Is Eddie back full time or what? Tony the Marine (talk) 21:12, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
It looks good my brother, Tonight I'm going to look for a book that historian Ursula Acosta sent me which will once and for all straighten out the origins of his father and the Cofresi surname and then I'll work on that section. Tony the Marine (talk) 03:17, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  • I added the info on the origins of the Cofresi surname. Tony the Marine (talk) 04:01, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Teófilo Marxuach

A lot of times when I write articles about our great military figures whose contributions have been omitted by our history books (including the U.S. history books), the family members get in touch with me (to thank me) and I end up making friends with them. You should see all of the stuff that I receive in the mail, like official documents and such. The Marxuach family has been in constent contact with me and I have been able to do what I have done with Teofilo's bio, but also with the 65th Infantry article which I wrote.

Now get this, the family has in their possession the casing of the shell that was fired by Teofilo (I placed the image in his bio). This is a one of a kind historical item that I believe Puerto Rico should have in a museum. I am working on that.

In regard to your question, if I am working to bring the artiucle to GA status. No, I am not interested in having any of the articles which I have worked on or created to be placed for FAC, FLC nor GAC. Of course I will bring my articles to high standards but, I am not going to deal with the racist and Anti-Hispanics bigots that sometime vote in those forums. Have you seen my latest work? It is Hispanics in the United States Marine Corps, I could nominate that one, but I will not. Tony the Marine (talk) 23:33, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Just trying to stay on the safe side. I don't have a problem with it being unprotected though.   jj137 (talk) 02:12, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Me too. Occasionally, though, I'll see articles receive relatively large amounts of vandalism, have a "break" from it, and then it randomly starts again– doesn't happen much, but I've seen it.   jj137 (talk) 02:19, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

An editor has asked for a deletion review of User:VigilancePrime/Doc:SqueakBox. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article, speedy-deleted it, or were otherwise interested in the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review.

While I can appreciate your intent, I believe that a same-day close when the majority (vast majority) of users were giving solid reasons for KEEP could give the impression of an admin closing in favor of personal desire to delete. No policies were being violated (as was clearly stated at the top of the page!) and the "Delete" camp arguments focused almost exclusively on name-calling (accusing all "keep voters" of being pedophiles). I find this to be a great error and ask that you either re-open the MfD (allowing it to run its full course so that all interested parties may contribute) and reinstate the page until the course ends or take part in the DRV. Personally, I think a DRV should be unnecessary, but the MfD should last more than half a day. VigilancePrime (talk) 02:28, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
I explained myself when closing the debate, I did read the arguments and revised the page's history, the final outcome in this debate doesn't affect me in the least, this user doesn't edit in my area of the project or hasn't worked with me in the improvement of any article, thus I hold no particular POV over the issue, suggesting otherwise only proves the strength of your point of view here and thus the reason I won't reopen the case upon this request. Now both sides had their obvious points of view here, and both tried to use the discussion as a venue to point their problems but none gave me a reason why to keep a page that had caused this ammount of drama, whereever or not the user's behavior is disruptive this page was not serving any purpouse in resolving this, but was effectively serving as a flamebait, wich certainly contributed nothing to the project, the ongoing edit war only served to prove this. - Caribbean~H.Q. 02:43, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
To be clear, I specifically stated that the same-day closure could give that impression but that "I can appreciate your intent". Further, I would point out that I had not posted once to the MfD, so the "to use the discussion as a venue to point their problems" line has no applicability to me whatsoever. This is all why I kindly asked for the review/re-look. If you won't reopen, that's your call and I accept that, but I wanted to ask you first and give you that chance. It's your decision either way (to reopen or not) and you wouldn't be "in the wrong" either way. I'll let the DRV take a look. VigilancePrime (talk) 02:50, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
I never said you used that to use it as a venue but rather that it was being used by both parts in that way, however while this was happening you were edit warring over it wich isn't helping the matter either, if the other user was vandalizing you ould have warned him and he would have to stop or be reported, but you got dragged in a edit war wich fueled the drama further. Like it was said below I have no problem with restoring it a proper step towards resolution is made but not to ignite this further. - Caribbean~H.Q. 02:55, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
As point of fact, I did warn the user! He removed the warning, made attacks on me (which I documented), and then blanked the page again! How is it edit-waring to restore blankings? I fear that you are missing the point: This user had been reported many times and nothing ever happens. That is why the page was so important any why deleting it based on the "keep-ers are all pedophiles" argument was terribly inappropriate. (That was, ultimately, the primary argument.) I understand that you closed it in the way you felt best and proper, but I believe that you are in error in large part due to lack of background, even the histories during the half-day the MfD was up. That's all. I am not trying to assert that you intentionally did anything untoward, but I do not believe that you have the complete picture on this matter. VigilancePrime (talk) 03:03, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
In fairness, that's not the cited reason. Caribbean HQ has merit in his argument about the potential for the page to generate more heat than light. I still think it should exist, but it's not accurate to reduce the question as you have. --SSBohio 03:26, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
I will clarify, because SSB is absolutely correct, I am not saying that was the close reason, I was pointing out that those in the discussion used that as their primary reason. Thank you, SSB, for pointing out how that could have been mis-taken. Let me be clear, I do acknowledge that CHQ's reason was a legitimately-worded one (even if I disagree with it's accuracy). VigilancePrime (talk) 03:30, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm somewhat concerned about the closure of Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:VigilancePrime/Doc:SqueakBox. I deliberately hung back from commenting on the MfD as I've had similar issues with the same editor. Is there a way that an editor can gather diffs and organize information for later use at an RFC/RfArb if the information points to that as the direction to take? I can see a page like the one deleted being used for just such a purpose. I don't know that VP was specifically using the page in such a responsible way, but I don't think that any page like that would be deletable on sight. I'd like you to reconsider your closure, especially considering the run of opinions at the MfD. I see merit in both arguments, so I can understand if you don't. I'd just like you to mull it over. --SSBohio 02:42, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

I was writing this when the DRV notice was added, so there was an edit conflict. --SSBohio 02:46, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
If a formal step towards resolution is made I can provide the material or restore it and move it to where its content is appropiate, but since its creation no attempt had been made, if it is ever done then I will do so, otherwise restoring a perpetual list will only bring more drama and edit wars. - Caribbean~H.Q. 02:48, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
I may misread your intent, but I think I did make a formal request to have the page reinstated, as above. Maybe this isn't what you meant and if not, can you elaborate for those of us not well-versed in process use (or abuse, as some others are)? I thought that was sufficient but if there's more steps, let me know and I'll follow them as well. VigilancePrime (talk) 02:52, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
You did a request to have the page reinstated, but haven't taken any step towards resolution of the problem yet, if a request for comment or arbitration is made then I will restore so it serves a purpouse other than the above mentioned. - Caribbean~H.Q. 02:58, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
I understand what you're getting at. I have stopped all editing of the articles that Squeak owns. I have even made comments in support of him. All of these are documented throughout Wikipedia by now. I don't know what else I can do to get along with him... I have already allowed him and his posse to drive me off his articles and have been subjected to harrassment and threats now. Why is it still my responsibility? I have made many attempts to disengage. Please take note of this and reinstate the page as has been requested. VigilancePrime (talk) 03:05, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
I already explained why keeping a page like this without it having a purpouse will be in detriment of the project, so I will only restore is the proper steps are made. However I will also respect the outcome of the DRV, there is no real point in continuing debate over it here, now its the community's turn to decide. - Caribbean~H.Q. 03:20, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
That's all I ask. Thank you for your help and understanding on all this. I'm not even sure I did the DRV correctly... VigilancePrime (talk) 03:22, 28 January 2008 (UTC) :-)
(ec³) I agree with CHQ's original comment. The issues surrounding a number of incidents in which Squeakbox is more or less involved in cnflicts with other editors should be considered formally. I've been trying to work with him for months to reach some kind of accommodation, and so far been unsuccessful. He is acting in what he sees as a good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, but his view is at such odds with mine (and others') that informal dispute resolution hasn't worked so far. His actions have previously been the topic of AN/I discussions and one request for arbitration. It might, however, be worth it to restore the page (possibly protected) while the DRV runs. Since it's in userspace, it doesn't present the same issues as leaving an article undeleted. --SSBohio 03:26, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

RE:Big Boss

Exactly, he harassed people endlessly, especially User:Metros, and he tried to use Wikipedia as a playground for his stupid yugioh tournaments in his neighborhood. He used Wikipedia as a social networking site, harassed users, etc. The block he got was long overdue. Peace, SexySeaBass 20:35, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Roberto Cofresi

You have helped make the article look really good. I added the origins of the Cofresi surname. Now get this, the Schooner "Grampus" which captured Roberto was lost at sea with all hands in 1843. Now I call that poetic justice. I bet that Cofresi's spirit must have laughed. Tony the Marine (talk) 07:15, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Removal of Che Speaking Videos

Wouldn't it be more prudent to indeed prove those clips violate copyright restrictions before you remove them ? It seems illogical to ban all youtube videos because sometimes the site hosts ones which violate copyright. Furthermore I believe the clips in question would be covered by the Fair Use Doctrine as well. Thus I am restoring them until it is evident that indeed they violate copyright laws - which I doubt as they were broadcast over Public Cuban television 50 years ago --TR 00:04, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

You haven't provided any evidence of them being in violation of copyright. All you have stated is that Youtube sometimes violates copyright laws ... well ok ... sometimes libraries do as well ... but you don't throw the proverbial baby out the with the bath water. You have not shown these clips in question violate a copyright. And I would contend the burden is for you to do so in order to justify their deletion. TR —Preceding unsigned comment added by Redthoreau (talkcontribs) 00:11, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

The video clips all come from the VHS El Che: Investigating a Legend (also available on DVD). They can be found at this link as well ... http://www.che-lives.com/home/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=21

Would it be ok to restore them and site this location instead ?

--TR 00:21, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

I provided new links, sourcing, and am using the brief excerpt rationale of the fair use rule. Similar to how someone would quote a copyrighted book and provide the source --- I am proviing the source and providing a small excerpt under the fair use doctrine as it applies to the topic area. --TR 00:36, 7 February 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Redthoreau (talkcontribs)

Also in order to be in violation of copyright it has to be shown that I am Competing With the Source You're I am copying From. Without consent, you ordinarily cannot use another person's protected expression in a way that impairs (or even potentially impairs) the market for his or her work. Providing a 20 second clip from an hour long movie does not do that ... and if anything provides publicity for the film in question. --TR 00:40, 7 February 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Redthoreau (talkcontribs)

Moreover, for instance Many publishers require their authors to obtain permission from an author to quote more then a specified number of words, ranging from about 100 to 1000 words. The rationale being that you ae taking a large amount of material. Well here I am using 20 second clips of an hour long documentary. Thus I would say it is equivalent to citing a paragraph of a full book. --TR 00:43, 7 February 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Redthoreau (talkcontribs)

--TR 00:45, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

I appreciate you letting them stay and I really am not trying to be difficult ... however I believe that there is value to having them included in the article and that since they are only very brief cited pieces ... that they would be justified. ;o) --TR 00:59, 7 February 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Redthoreau (talkcontribs)

Your rewording of it works better. It does belong with the info about the Hall of Fame induction, as it's part of the same story. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 23:39, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, that was my reasoning. - Caribbean~H.Q. 23:58, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Someone said, after the comment about winning the MVP, that he was the first Hispanic to achieve "both honors". Whatever that means. Do they mean the Hall of Fame as the other one? That didn't happen in 1966, though. Maybe I'm missing something. It's early. However, Zoilo Versalles won the MVP the year before, although I don't think he's in the Hall. However, Ted Williams was half-Mexican by ancestry. Does he count? Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 13:23, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

I believe that Williams counts as Hispanic but my guess is that the user is refering to Latin American, Roberto was the first Latin American to enter in the HoF but he wasn't the first one to be the American League's MVP. - Caribbean~H.Q. 02:58, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Actually he was never the AL's MVP because he didn't play in the AL, but it looks like he was the first hispanic NL MVP, though Zoilo Versalles won the MVP in the AL the previous year, os he wasn't the first Latino MVP. All in all, I'm not sure exactly what point the editor was trying to make, so it's just as well you zapped it. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 03:14, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
As a matter of fact you are right, though Latino and Latin American are completely different terms the fact of the matter is that Clemente wasn't the first Latin American to win a MLB MVP, I "zapped" the addition because it was unsourced and somewhat obscure, the user didn't clarify what "honors" he was talking about. - Caribbean~H.Q. 03:21, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Perhaps you could enlighten me as to the subtle differences between Hispanic, Latino, and Latin American? Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 03:48, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Latin American is usually used to determine that person's place of birth (this includes both Spanish speaking countries and Brazil where Portuguese is the main language) while Latino or Hispanic is used where referencing the subject's ethnic group. To be Latin American one must be born in Latin American, however to be Latino or Hispanic that person only needs to have decended from someone born and raised in a Hispanic culture, in other words being Latino is not a requisite for being Latin American since that term covers a wider scope. - Caribbean~H.Q. 03:56, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Aja. Latin America covering Brazil makes sense, because both the Spanish and the Portugese languages derive from vulgate Latin. In that sense, the U.S. and Canada (well, most of it) could be considered "English America", if one wanted to make such a distinction. So Hispanic and Latino are essentially equivalent? And they could be used to describe anyone of some Spanish or Portugese speaking background? Including from Spain? Here's where it gets confusing, though: A black American, born in the USA, might be referred to as "African-American", just as some of my ancestors might be considered "Irish-American". If a black man (or one of any color, presumably) was actually born in Africa, he would be "African". The use of "Latin American" vs. "Latino" would seem to be the opposite usage from that. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 04:20, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Hispanic and Latino are usually equivalent, however sometimes Latino is extended to cover Brazilian people while Hispanic only covers Spanish speaking countries including Spain, but both pretty much serve to distiguish ethnic groups. - Caribbean~H.Q. 04:31, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Some things

Am I allowed to remove this? Looks too much like an uncivil comment. And what was your conclusion with these redirects below? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 04:01, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't do it, she did use coarse language but it wasn't directed at you, so its not really a personal attack and Wikipedia isn't censored and while uncivil the comment seems relevant to whatever conversation you two were having there wich seems to be about the article's content. I will check them later, cheers. - Caribbean~H.Q. 23:55, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Taking a DMC4 spoiler break

Hey, CHQ. I'm going to try to take a personal spoiler-avoiding break from working on the DMC pages for a while. I don't have an Xbox or PS3 yet, and I plan to get one in the next couple weeks and then get the game. But for obvious reasons I don't want to ruin the experience while editing our pages here. Sorry about this, but we'll get it all cleaned up fairly soon and add another featured article to the DMC pages. Take care! --Boradis (talk) 10:38, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Infoboxes

I know that. At least I noticed it when I previewed the page but I was thinking about doing something to have it added. Isn't there a way to add the field to the infobox templates? I mean, 'nationality' should appear in all infoboxes about people... The general "People" infobox does have it and I cannot think of a reason why this shouldn't be consistent... there should be an inheritance scheme or something for all infoboxes derived from a "People" perspective... How can this be proposed to Wikipedia? RayLast (talk) 14:11, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Can't I just simply edit the templates adding that nationality field? So that the editors have the option to either include the birthplace or the nationality? -RayLast (talk) 14:26, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

El Vate

El Vate is the way that people, predominantly populares, referred to Muñoz Marín in the 1950's and 1960's as a sign of respect. While I don't know the etymology of the word "Vate", any Puerto Rican over the age of 55 (whbich I am not!) can vouch for that fact. When I have a chance, I'll check Héctor Luis Acevedo's recent bio's of Jesús T. Piñero and Luis Negrón López to see if he makes any reference to this title. Pr4ever (talk) 01:14, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Hahaha cuando el rio suena es porque agua trae. I will take your word for it, though my comment is still accurate, "Vate" isn't a real Spanish word. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:35, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Nationality

No, the Babe Ruth article is not the same because it doesn't say his birth/death date AND the place of birth in parantheses like Carlos Delgado's does. The Babe Ruth article is not redundant, while Delgado's IS. Tamajared (talk) 00:55, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I could care less about the infobox. I care about reading a Wikipedia article and having to see an unprofessional "... (born in Manati, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican. . ." That redundancy sounds ridiculous. Tamajared (talk) 01:01, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Miguel Angel Cotto

Sorry, no, there was no particular reason except that he has a brother called José Miguel Cotto who fought for a world title last year... N.B.: As an admin, can't you do something about a user called "Vintagekits" constantly vandalizing the "List of IBO world champions?" He's replacing "Northern Ireland" with "Ireland", he's changing back my "GBR" to "UK" or so, and he replaces "PRI" with "PUR", but what annoyes me the most is the way he talks to me on my user discussion page. Thanks. claudevsq (talk) 16:47, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

I would watch who you are calling a vandaliser! I have tried to engage in a discussion with you with regards this issue on a number of occasion but YOU refuse to do so and just say you "dont understand". If you dont understand the issue then I am very happy to aid you in your quest for knowledge, but I do not appriciate you coming here and labelling be as a vandaliser. Instead of saying I did this or that why dont you provide diffs.--Vintagekits (talk) 17:28, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
From what I understand GBR -> UK and PRI -> PUR produce the same templates, any particular reason why one spelling is prefered over the other? as for Ireland, there are two separate governments in there (Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland) so we should distinguish between both. - Caribbean~H.Q. 03:07, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Newsflash - the Good Friday Agreement has been in place for nearly ten years - one of its main provisions is that "Recognition of the birthright of all the people of Northern Ireland to identify themselves and be accepted as Irish or British, or both, as they may so choose" - nationality in Northern Ireland is not legally the same as in the rest of the United Kingdom.--Vintagekits (talk) 09:02, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
That's good, then you should also know that the only official flag in Northern Ireland is the flag of the union, the tri-color flag is not official and is mostly used by people supporting a united Ireland, so in other words the flag we should use in the list id the official one, i.e. the union's flag. Now the Republic of Ireland has a official flag and we can use it on the list. - Caribbean~H.Q. 18:50, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Your arguement makes no sense. In this instance, what is the flag supposed to represent?--Vintagekits (talk) 19:04, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
This one, the flag used to represent a country doesn't nessesarily illustrates that country's political status, in this case the flag of the United Kingdom is the only official one and its the one we will use. - Caribbean~H.Q. 19:08, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
You dont understand, is the flag supposed to represent the boxers a. nationality, b. place of birth, c. place of residence d. anything else?--Vintagekits (talk) 19:19, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Exactly, Northern Ireland doesn't have a official flag, so there is no flag representing their nationality, the tri-color flag is only official in the Republic of Ireland. - Caribbean~H.Q. 19:21, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Exactly what? That is not what I asked you what are the flags in these articles supposed to represent the boxers a. nationality, b. place of birth, c. place of residence d. anything else?--Vintagekits (talk) 19:25, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Place of birth, that is the format used in the List of current world boxing champions, wich is the standard for all these other lists. - Caribbean~H.Q. 19:28, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
No its not, are you just making this up. 1. Wladimir Klitschko born in USSR in what is now Kazakhstan, flag shown in Ukraine! 2. Arthur Abraham born in USSR in what is Armenia, flag shown in Germany!--Vintagekits (talk) 19:37, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I just noted that, anyways the last time that I worked with the list the format used was listing boxers by place of birth, for example all of the English boxers were listed under the flag of England instead of the union's flag. The place of birth is the proper format due to the different commisions in the UK. - Caribbean~H.Q. 19:42, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

(remove indent) It was my understanding that it is nationality that is used not place of birth.--Vintagekits (talk) 19:45, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

There was a conversation about this on the list's talk page several months ago but conflicting issues were presented and the "by country of birth" format was kept by default. - Caribbean~H.Q. 19:50, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Well that doesnt appear to be the case judging by the examples I have outlined.--Vintagekits (talk) 19:52, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
I know, but personally I haven't worked with the list in a while, the focus of my edits has been the article's of inividual boxers, so I'm not up-to-date with what happened with the flags, however that was the last conversation over the flags that I can recall. - Caribbean~H.Q. 19:56, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Got a link to that conversaton? Also shouldnt Ricans have the US flag ;) !--Vintagekits (talk) 20:00, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
No, there is a separate Puerto Rican nationality. - Caribbean~H.Q. 20:07, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Yes, just like nationality is legally different in Northern Ireland to the rest of the United Kingdom.--Vintagekits (talk) 20:09, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Yup, but Puerto Rico has a official flag since the 1950s. - Caribbean~H.Q. 20:11, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Just because its got a legal flag doesnt mean much - Catalonia has a legal flag but its legally a country. A PR is legally not a different country as PR is only semi autonomous.--Vintagekits (talk) 20:15, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Puerto Rico governs itself, the congress doesn't control any aspect of the island's economic or administrative aspects, anyways we are getting out of theme here I'm not interested in discussing politics. - Caribbean~H.Q. 20:20, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
You seem like a bit of a hypocrite. You are happy to dish out lectures about politics, nationality, legal flags but when you faced with the truth you go awol. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland all govern themselves to the same degree as Purto Rico. Anyway, where is the link to this conversation that you claims states that we are going to use "place of birth". --Vintagekits (talk) 20:25, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Watch out for the personal attacks, and I haven't been denying Northern Ireland's status as a country my point is that the country doesn't have a official flag thus they have no official representative symbol. - Caribbean~H.Q. 20:29, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
No persona l attack their - it is hypocritical to talk about politic and then when someone asks you about politic say you dont want to talk about politics. My issue here is that legally individuals from Northern Ireland are treated different from the rest of the United Kingdom. The Good Friday Agreement outlines that legally there is a "Recognition of the birthright of all the people of Northern Ireland to identify themselves and be accepted as Irish or British, or both, as they may so choose" therefore those from NI can have an Irish, British or both passport. Much like Puerto Ricans, Irish people in Northern Ireland value their nationality highly and dont appricate it being wrongfully whitewashed with an incorrect British flag much like you wouldnt accept a US flag. Now for the third time where is this conversation that you have sid exists?--Vintagekits (talk) 20:40, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Ok, does Northern Ireland have a sports flag? a flag representing the organization responsible for its Olympic teams? - Caribbean~H.Q. 20:45, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Thats not the point I am making and boxers from Northenr Ireland represent the Republic of Ireland at the Olympics. The boxers I have outlined are Irish like John Duddy, Damaen Kelly, Eamonn Magee hold Irish as in Republic of Ireland nationality. Incase you wondered what flag they use see Eamonn Magee, John Duddy and Damaen Kelly.--Vintagekits (talk) 20:56, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
That is what I was looking for, now I would like to know wich flag the country's Olympic team uses. - Caribbean~H.Q. 21:04, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
At the Olympics all boxers from Ireland both north and south fly the Irish tricolor.--Vintagekits (talk) 21:12, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Ok then, we use the tricolor flag, seeing that is the format used by the countries themselves. - Caribbean~H.Q. 21:25, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Its more complicated than that I am afraid.--Vintagekits (talk) 21:30, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Can you provide further explanation? - Caribbean~H.Q. 21:33, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Most but not all boxers from Northern Ireland identify with and/or hold Irish nationality, however, some do not such as Ray Close and Jimmy Warnock.--Vintagekits (talk) 21:49, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Those a exeptions to the rule, such cases should be attended individually. - Caribbean~H.Q. 04:41, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Couple things

First I'd like to say thanks for reverting vandalism at the Goku page. I noted that you left a couple redirects like Z Sword and Talk:Z Sword. Why? And since you left pretty much every other Son Goku-related redirect, should I create Son Goku (Dragon Ball Z), Son Gokuh (Dragon Ball) and Son Goku (dragon ball), Son Goku (dragon ball), Goku (dragonball) and any others? I deleted the image and left a message on the uploader's talk page, although its quite possible that the accounts are related neither has done anything that is disruptive so I won't block for now. - Caribbean~H.Q. 02:28, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Taking action? [4] Did you see that we laid out a plan on the talk page, and I was planning to complete step 1, including the revert?[5] Are you planning to move forward differently, after I've carefully tried to get everyone on the same page and coordinate the effort so we can make sure we get everything? Let me know, please, as I was planning to do the first work, which is substantial. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 04:02, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

(ec x 1) I am planing to follow the steps but from what I read (please correct me if I'm wrong) the only step that needs to take place befor the revert is selecting the version to wich revert, there appears to be a agreeing that the Featured one provides more flexibility, outside of that the other steps are to take place during and after the revert and I will do several of the fixes (infobox, removal of deleted images and footnote check) myself before completing the revert, then again if you or someone else wants to deal with some of these issues that's cool with me. - Caribbean~H.Q. 04:09, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
On the version, I believe there is consensus (so far) on the featured (March 10) version, so that's no problem. On the timing, I believe you're rushing too much. I was going to give it one more day, to be absolutely certain no one can say later that we reverted without allowing for consensus, because Mattisse failed to do the complete FAR notifications when she nominated the article at FAR. As to the rest, if you're doing it, it's all yours, I bow out. I don't want to come in to a mess at the end of FAR and have to do MoS and ref cleanup. I was willing to help if everyone was on board, I laid out a plan to make sure they all agreed, but I don't agree with going too fast on this (there is no timing constraint on a FAR) and risking having someone criticize the revert after the fact because they weren't aware. If I'm going to do it, I would do basic ref and MOS cleanup first, to set the tone for clean refs and MOS guidelines on the rest of the work to be done. Let me know. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 04:21, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
I wasn't aware of the notification problem, certainly more time will be needed then. As far as the post-revert work I was thinking about doing the tedious image and referencing but MOS is something that varies by project and there might be some dealing with this particular topic (WP:MIL) that are out of my knowledge. - Caribbean~H.Q. 04:39, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
I used to do all the FAR notifications myself, but since taking on more at FAC, I don't have time to do them all. I prompted the first day on the FAR for the notifications to be done, but they weren't done until I prompted a second time, so that delay in Mattisse's notifications leaves an opening for criticism on a 2-year revert, which is why I want to be sure the bases are covered before actually doing it. I can't imagine anyone at this point who is going to come in and oppose it, but waiting is safer. I was aiming at Thursday, and I was only planning to do everything I laid out in Step 1, and then let others fight out the images, POV, et al. I just want to put consistent ref formatting in place from the beginning, and bring the old Zleitzen version to current MoS standards before turning it over to The Whole World to pick apart. Let me know if you still agree. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 04:45, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
That is not quite true, as I did the notifications immediately. It is just that you inserted your orders, in those seconds while I was doing the notifying. I had already notified you that the Portals were defunct. You did not at the time give me order to notify them also. You did not order me until much later that I should notify the defunct sites anyway. Please do not make it look like my fault when I was doing the best I could to follow your orders. Mattisse 05:19, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Certainly, I think that its possible to draw a line between POVs but we must avoid letting the work of judging the entire content fall in the hands of a single user, otherwise this entire process might be pointless. I can tag in after Step 1 is complete and continue from there. - Caribbean~H.Q. 05:00, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
OK, I'll aim to do thru what I outlined as Step 1 on Thursday, and I plan to do each step in a very methodical fashion, in case there's criticism or issues down the road. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 05:12, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Deletion review of Category:Wikipedians who support Hezbollah

Hi. I noticed you took part in the debate atWikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents/Hezbollah userbox and I was wondering if you might want to participate in a debate I have started at deletion review of this category and accompanying userboxes here.--Cdogsimmons (talk) 02:23, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

A couple of things

First, on the above section, take it from me that you are very, very wise to avoid political debates :P. Secondly, pardon my violation of WP:DENY, but you'd be surprised how much Spanish I can read, and the recent vandalism of your talk page disgusts me. Disturbed92893 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log) seems like a vandal I've dealt with before. Exactly what I mean. And look at 76.241.84.160 (I see it edited Dragon Ball Z and Disturbed, note the name similarity with Disturbed92893). This is most likely the anon that created the accounts. What to do? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 06:07, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

From the looks of it your block is not based on a dynamic address, it is a range block, Yamla is certainly more experienced than me when dealing with these kind of blocks, but considering that range blocks can affect a huge ammount of users (50,000+) the lenght of it shouldn't be extensive. - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:19, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

And I see that you're concentrating on your exams in the real world, and that some of the DMC pages are slowly spiraling into pure fancruft. To me it looks like a content dispute, the user appears to be jumping between his IP and account, however the edits seem more like OR than vandalism, you should explain that policy to him before taking other actions, remember that a page protection would only disable him from editing for a few days and the matter would continue afterwards. - Caribbean~H.Q. 04:28, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Shaggy Flores page

Hey Caribbean; first off, excellent pic of Viejo San Juan. Next, regardng your question on the Shaggy Flores page, I looked at the page's history and it was created by Shaggy Flores. The talk page provides the following, in pertinent part: "You can go to www.shaggyflores.com for references to this article. Article was posted by the actual person who the article is about. Please remove from deletion status as the information provided is correct. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.160.135.249 (talk • contribs)." 76.160.135.249 is Shaggy Flores, and he created his own web page. He is not notable and the page reads like an autobiography and has pics of him and his buddies. It also includes references to what he likes and what sort of education he is pursuing at the moment. I re-nominated it for deletion but was shot down by another editor so I am not going to pursue it. Descarado is an accurate word for this. --Noopinonada (talk) 01:02, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

The article was posted by a registered account, if its content was taken from that webpage its probably a copyright violation, regardless if a article survives AFD a administrator will most likely avoid deleting it by PROD or Speedy deletion, however if a new AFD process is started blanking the AFD template is vandalism, so if you feel its nessesary you can open a case and only consensus from the community can close it. - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:22, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Another undiscussed Goku move

Can you revert the move Mountainman49 (talk · contribs · logs) did to Son Goku (Dragon Ball) and move-protect the page? Discussion has been underway here. Either Kazaan (talk · contribs · logs) had another account created or this is a meatpuppet / troll. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 23:51, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Move protection is premature, the article has only been moved twice this year and four time in its lifetime, however you can edit the redirect Goku (Dragon Ball) in order to create a article history, that way only a admin can move it since it requires the deletion of the destination. - Caribbean~H.Q. 00:15, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
I couldn't undo the edit, so I asked a sysop (you). And I just wanted it protected until the discussion on WP:DBZ was over. That too much to ask? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 00:24, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Move protection is rarely applied to articles, mostly being used if a heavy move war is in progress, this case is marching quite slowly and its evident that the moves are going against consensus, thus they are disruptive, in this kind of cases is common to deal with the individual users before protecting, Mountainman is acting like a SPA, if he continues the moves against consensus after being informed of it then the account should be blocked as one. Kazaan on the other hand is already aware of said consensus, if he begins move-warring against it then his edits can also be considered disruptive. - Caribbean~H.Q. 00:35, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Ok, but aren't you watching the page? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 00:40, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, but these moves have been happening during the afternoon, I am usually most active during the night, my edits during the day come in streaks depending on what I am doing in college, mostly consisting of watchlist surfing or AN threads. - Caribbean~H.Q. 00:46, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I see how it works for you. If I may say, how many silly moves will it take? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 00:49, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
That depends, if I start seeing a lot of established users persistenly move-warring then the protection might be preventive, altough something like that seems doubtful and pointy moves can simply be undone by a admin, if any of the users that have previously moved it does it again then the protection is not needed as explained before. - Caribbean~H.Q. 00:56, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

They're all from a university - I'm not sure that one month blocks are good ideas, given the potential for collateral damage. I blocked the new account as a block evading sock of Larry Hanes of Raleigh, it may be a guess but I also issued a temporal sockmaster block on Rob Cobb since he is the oldest account of the bunch, still Nakon is probably more informed than me here. - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:30, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks again. Unrelated but I've always wanted to ask you something: where you you get the idea for the name "Dark Dragon Flame"? Was it Hiei's fire ability which inspired you? Just curious. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 01:42, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
It was based on a enemy in Final Fantasy VII, the "Flame" part was random, looking back at it two years later it seems kind of childish, probably a testament of how two years make people mature. - Caribbean~H.Q. 02:54, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Let me admit, you're kind of different now than you were as "Dark Dragon Flame". Guess a name change and being a sysop adds more maturity eh? Can't say the miss the old you, the new you can block those vandals for me {^_^} Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 05:44, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

AN/I Incidents

CHQ, Not sure what all of the animosity is about.

  • I am not a Vandal, I am of Irish decent.
  • My edits are brief and to the point. If I do not discover any incidents on the wiki, I report this for all concerned on the noticeboard.
  • Tor exit nodes are not evil, they just help to protect my identity, just as the true identity of Batman and the Lone Rangerr were protected by a mask.
  • If you have a suggestion as to how I can better communicate, please let me know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.74.134.45 (talk) 12:29, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Evidently as you should have figured when User:Incidents was blocked (said account was obviously under your control) I am not the only one that is becoming tired of this meme, other adimns have also perceived it as trolling. I reverted the edits and filed a report for the bot glitch, but I haven't blocked any of the Tor nodes, that would be pointless. Now if we needed a report of incidents happening at any given time we would program a bot account to handle it, however as can be seen on the noticeboards there are always incidents in progress, thus the reason why your edits are always reverted as trolling. Regardless, I am not going to take any kind of action as long as you quit the AN/I meme, by now you (who I am guessing aren't anywhere near a newbie) should have figured that out. - Caribbean~H.Q. 12:52, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
CHQ, Yes Incidents is an account I created to assist me in my efforts. Please consider an unblock. I think it would be easier for me to communicate with a registered account, as my Tor nodes seem to be fluctuating at random. Your choice, but I would like to continue helping, and a registered account seems to have some advantages. You mentioned that a bot could be programmed to do what I have initiated. Immediately after you mention difficulty with an existing bot. Myself, I think bots are a short lived fad (like pockets and the internet). I look forward to Wikipedia publishing in a paper media, versus its current web form, but until then, with anybody allowed to edit, I think I would like to continue as a volunteer searching for problems on the site. Reporting, even if no incidents are found, lets others know of my work and whether or not there are any issues. Again, please consider an unblock on Incidents, and feel free to offer any advise on how I can improve my efforts. 14:18, 5 April 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.167.147.6 (talk)

Just dropping in to see how one of the best Boricua editors is doing. How are your academic studies doing? As long as we have dedicated academics such as yourself in this project, inspiring our youth to persue a higher level of education, I believe that we will be headed for a better Puerto Rico. Take care mi hermano. Tony the Marine (talk) 15:17, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Boricuazo

Yes, "El Boricuazo" is a brillant guy and what I like about him is that he thinks like us. He knows about how important it is that we educate our people in regard to the positive contributions which we have made to society. I am absolutely sure that he knows about our project. Remember, for years we have been uncovering relatively unknown facts about our people and our island and posting it in Wikipedia and it is only common sense that he would feed off of us as we can also feed off of him. One example is the information that he posted in his book about the Boricuas in NASA. That is the same information that I had posted some years ago in the "Puerto Ricans in NASA" article: Puerto Ricans in NASA. However, I believe that it is important for people to know that El Boricuazo is not the only Puerto Rican educating the masses, that there are many more Boricuas, such as ourselves in Wikipeida with the same goal. Deseo, Que Dios este contigo en tu estudios y el momento de tus examenes. Tony the Marine (talk) 18:44, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Eddie Mellado - inventor of the 3-point shot

Here is something that is interesting. My son told me that Prof. Eddie Rio Mellado invented the 3-point shot that is common in the game of basketball. However, I couldn't find any reliable source to confirm this. Now, if this is true, that would mean that a "Boricua" invented something that revolutionized the game of basketball and Mellado deserves an article in Wikipedia. I do know that la Asociación de Jugadores de Baloncesto de Puerto Rico has a "Eddie Rios Mellado Award" which is annually presented to the player who makes the most 3-point shots. This I found out when I checked the R. de la C. 2461 de La Camara de Representantes de Puerto Rico: . R. de la C. 2462

Now, what I was wondering is if anyone in Puerto Rico could come up with some sources (newspapers, books, etc.) which would serve as a verifiable source, because like I said before, I think that Mellado deserves an article. Tony the Marine (talk) 04:51, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Puerto Rican Amazon - striking while the iron is hot

I was pretty chuffed as I just got Emperor Penguin through FAC and the usually-extremely-hard-to-please Tony was happy about the prose, so I guess one could consider it a bit of a bird-template for other feathered critters. There's quite a bit of activity with several articles like Cattle Egret, American robin and European Robin as well as King Penguin being worked up and folks being pretty active and helpful. I write this as the tide has gone out eslewhere as wikiproject dinosaurs has gone into hibernation and I know from experience that writing with no-one else interested is much much harder, so if you do have some time, now would be cool to dump facts into Puerto Rican Amazon, but don't relegate real-life stuff :) Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 05:27, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Activity is weird round here - I could see that sometime before I joined (in may 06) that (for instance) WP:Cetacea was really active, then quietened down alot. I never thought WP:dinosaurs would but it has. Who knows, I'd never think birds would get quiet but then again WP:Mammals has always been very quiet as a concerted thing, as is WP:Plants - I have set up collaborations to try and push things along, and....some action but really needs a driving force. Anyway, if you dump the info then we can all get stuck into it and it should be at FAC before too long. Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 22:42, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

I put the book up for FAC, but someone there wants page numbers... do you have a copy of the book? Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 12:07, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Sigh... I'll review it, I guess (it seems to be International Get-David to review your GAC day!) Just make sure you find a copy of Harvest! ;) Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 22:38, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Rebellion

Technically, it's a manifestation of Dante in weapon form, just like all Devil Arms (minus the Yamato, possibly). Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 19:31, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Ah, but it isn't a character which was my point. Anyway, weapons list are among the stuff that gets deleted as indiscriminate information quite often, its better just to avoid them. - Caribbean~H.Q. 19:42, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Imagery

Sounds like an interesting task. I'm willing to try it. Give me an example, along with the non-free image and I'll give it a shot to see if it works out. Although it's easier to produce an artistic depiction closely aligned to the reference, I assume you're suggesting something that would resemble no connection to the non-free image? ~RayLast «Talk!» 20:49, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Ok. I think I can work something out with that. This coming week I'm going to be traveling to Puerto Rico so I won't be very much into Wikipeding. Also, being a Puerto Rican I tend to be great at procrastinating, so it might take me a while to get things done. Thanks for giving me another idea on other ways I can contribute. ~RayLast «Talk!» 02:23, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

El Boricuazo

I have direct contact with Jesús Omar Rivera and am able to contact him on anything related to Wikipedia. I have already expressed our desire to populate Wikipedia with information about Puerto Rico to him and he seems excited about the project. I'm sure he's willing to help in any way he can. The little catch is that he is really busy and we might need to organize a list of questions for him or something. I started his article, which he knows about and told me to call him and he'll provide any additional information we may need. Again, as the master procrastinator, I have not done so yet. ~RayLast «Talk!» 15:53, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Still up for a redirect nukefest?

Assuming you never finished all of these, I gave another sysop a list of other redirects but (s)he never responded. So I was thinking you'd like to scan through both? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 16:04, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I do have a tendency to spent a lot of time inactive and just didn't remember these. They eventualy fell between college work and a series of articles in GA, in time they went unnoticed. Regardless, I am going to be working with Kratos (God of War) and Puerto Rican Amazon this week, perhaps it would be better to ask a sysop with a clearer schelude. - Caribbean~H.Q. 23:35, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Would you happen to have anyone in mind? I could try User:Sephiroth BCR ... Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 03:28, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
I have only worked with two other admins in fictional topics, one of them has been inactive, the other one is David but he has been quite busy lately, I think Sephiroth might be the best option at this moment unless he is also busy. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:51, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Carlito

Wow, I've never seen that section of MoS quoted before. It's odd. Carlito's is the only article that I have seen that is written like that. WP:PW has a featured article about a wrestler that makes no such distinction. I guess I'll bring this up on WT:PW. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 01:13, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

When the article was being written there had been a GAR on Undertaker, "the article is in-universe, are we talking about the character or the person?" was one of the things mentioned in the review, a few days after there were a few articles that were being tagged with {{inuniverse}} so I tried a different aproach. Listing the real names allows us to write from a "in-universe" perspective while providing sufficient "out-of-universe" information, WP:FILM has a simmilar practice. - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:30, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Could you protect the page? This vandal just won't stop, and I'm amazed that no one else is seeing this. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 22:40, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

I issued a cool-down protection, I'm not a fan of the Hulk so the information part is outside of my expertise. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:48, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Do you mind if I remove the protection on this article? I've just issued 3RR blocks on the edit warring parties... if you prefer not to, I certainly understand. :-) - Philippe 22:46, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Hola mi hermano, I agree with you that it would be wonderful to have "El Boricuazo" join us. We need people like us who truly love Puerto Rico and who with our work here are helping to change the way the world looks at us and how our people look at themselves.

Thank you for the comments on my article. I didn't want my son to write it because I don't believe myself worthy, but he is hard headed (cabezi-duro). I want to ask you for a favor. Please put the article in your "watchlist" because sometimes We have to travel and you know how it is, someone may come along and vandalize it with profanity or put it up for deletion. Hey

I'm back. I was in Atlanta, and I didn't have a chance to hit the bars. I do love Piña Coladas, though. So, how is everything? SexySeaBass 22:30, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

My vacation was nice. It was a typical vacation, nice hotel, lots of relaxation, good food. Like I said, no bars, but it was still nice. For some reason there were lots of high school kids (hundreds if not thousands) in weird shirts walking around in the afternoons, but that's the only thing of note. I took an extra long vacation due to missing one earlier this year. Cheers, SexySeaBass 01:20, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Must have, I don't know what was going on. The only word to describe it is weird. SexySeaBass 02:01, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

The Barnstar of National Merit
I am giving you this award because to me, it sometimes seems like you are not recognized as much as you should be for all of your hard work and dedication to Wikipedia. You are one of Wikipedia's top admin's and you should be recognized for it! Happy Editing! iMatthew 2008 20:58, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Honestly, I mainly did it to see what specifically could be done to improve it, if it didn't pass; I wanted to get specifics on what could make it better. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 21:06, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
