- Several editors have been successfully using it recently. I have not, however, received yours . I look forward to reading it when it arrives.

Don't worry about "escalation", let others do their gabbing and get on with making constructive edits. Your sense of humour is a constructive thing, your insight into processes could also be helpful at various policy type discussions in Wikipedia (WP:) namespaces.

I don't know if it's your thing, but work on Dutch dialects or astronomical objects both interest me, and there's clearly a lot of good work already around, but with plenty of room to build. The right search term into Google Scholar should provide fascinating reliable sources.

I'm a Wiki contributor, not a Wiki politician (though both are important). For me, Wiki is a cycle of Question-Search-Bibliography-Read-Learn-Write. I write what I learn, but also learn as I write. Wikipedia works for me as an interactive learning process, it just so happens this leaves an "audit trail" for other interested people to follow and refine if they want to.

In my opinion, the first part of any article to be written ought to be the bibliography, online resources where possible. At the very least, Wikipedia could be a guide to reliable resources on the internet. In practice, this is how any serious students approach regular encyclopedias anyway.

I'm happy to keep chatting Wiki politics with you, but I'd prefer to help you write a Featured Article on whatever interests you most. :) Alastair Haines (talk) 01:09, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

G'day to you, sir. I very much appreciate your advice, but, I have no "real" evidence to offer in defense of Alastair...no diffs of any formitable quality. As you must well observe, Alastair is very capable of defending himself. The qualities he is displaying at the ArbCom are the same qualities that caused me to notice his high level of editorship as I wandered the back "history' rooms of articles. I only recently have "met" him but I am O so glad I did. I spend most of my time and effort on varied articles regarding Belgium/Flanders/Holland, etc. There is a very contentious lot that edits there. But they have schooled me in editing without bias...(mostly by displaying theirs)...I work toward civility, I disdain obfuscation (which I see all to often used against good faith editors), I strive to say the best I can as briefly as possible. I enjoy laughter. I saw these same atributes in Alastair and I valued his unknowing teaching. When I finally did approach him, he was open and friendly. And, sad to say, from my limited experience in WikiWorld, that alone set him apart.

I enjoy scanning and improving WikiPedia via the Random Article method.

If you feel there are ways to improve my "Witness for the Defense of Alastair Haines" status, I would be more than happy to here them.--Buster7 (talk) 02:27, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
