Awards Center

I've added a few more challenges to the awards center. I know how much you love editing challenges, so this is just an early heads up. --Sharkface217 21:21, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

admin

Hey. I've seen you edit around, and thought you might be a pretty good admin. If you wish to run, I'll nominate you over at WP:RFA. Let me know of your decision, and make sure you know what you plan to do with the tools as well. Wizardman 04:08, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

yu gi oh

RE: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:87.194.56.46&redirect=no Are you sure you got the right IP?

I don't even go to yu gi oh related stuff let alone make edits, is this a case of similar ips from the provider?

Request page protection

I've requested protection at the page you suggested, per the explaination on the help desk. Best regards, Rudget. 17:20, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

I have gived it a week to see if they tire of it. If it carries on, drop me a note or go to WP:RFPP again. Regards. Woody (talk) 20:35, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
A range block could be attempted, though it seems to be quite a large range administered by "PaeTec Communications Inc.". Primarily I would open up a dialogue on the talkpage, try and talk to them. It worked for the Royal Navy article I worked on. An ip was warring, I got him to register and the article developed because of it. You just have to have the patience of a Saint.;) You've got a week to wait though, try and leave them a "hidden message" (<!-- Please discuss this -->), you only do so much after that. Woody (talk) 20:53, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Seems to be a highly dynamic ip, so it might not be on purpose, though it could be. That is why I suggest you try and get them to register, that way, you know they are getting the messages. That is where hidden messages in the article can sometimes be useful. Woody (talk) 21:11, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: STB lizard

I live in Stebbins right now. I don't know when it started, but there are references to the lizard / lizards in the house minutes going back at least two years. There are lizard stencils everywhere, the living room is named the "Lizard Lounge", and the house has a pet lizard. 208.201.238.208 (talk) 01:25, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Re:Minimum episode count

Seven, maybe eight. Any lower and you have a hard time justifying it passes WP:WIAFL. I would say ten gives you a comfortable number to avoid such allegations though. What specific example are you looking at? Cheers, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 23:20, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

It's not stated, but implied in 1(a) and 1(b). As for your example, yeah, I can't see you convincing the FLC regulars that it passes the aforementioned criteria. Cheers, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 00:24, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Timoshenko

Thank you for your sections in the article, but why do you suppose the shoulderboard image detracts from the article? The shoulderboard is the primary symbol of the rank, and a significantly different one from all other ranks. Given the use of symbols in other articles, and the lack of images in this one, I though it was appropriate to include it. Cheers--mrg3105mrg3105 05:11, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Re:FLCL episode list

Yeah, redirects to the list would be appropriate. You can go ahead and merge the first three right now, as you've written summaries for them on the list. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 06:18, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Feel free to be bold. If someone reverts, bring it discussion (don't revert back), leave a message on the project page, and a consensus will be worked out as to what is to be done (although I'm pretty positive they will be merged). Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 06:24, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Length is fine since the episodes are longer. I see no problems. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 06:35, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, as soon as the remaining plot summaries are added. My only worry is that it might not be long enough, but I feel that can be overcome. Oh, and try searching for the remaining two episodes here. Feel free to add the remaining summaries if you find the last two. Cheers, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 06:42, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Nominated here for featured list status. Thanks for all the help. Cheers, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 08:02, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: School Rumble ep #27

Sorry about taking awhile to respond to your inquiry. The episode 27 is about 12 minutes long, starts with the Season 1 OP, and has 2 segments. I received it on a disc from a friend, but I haven't been able to find the original disc. It's from WannabeeFS, though. CFLeon (talk) 22:26, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

need help on the David Gest page

Hi, BrokenSphere. You've been helpful trying to get an anonymous poster 75.64.177.142 to stop vandalizing the David Gest page. He just hit the page again, but I reverted it back to another admin's good article rewrite. What can we do to help protect this page and/or help the anonymous poster play by the rules? He seems bent on destruction.

Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Swilli88 (talkcontribs) 03:11, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about that. For some reason I thought that someone had blanked that section. I just didn't look very closely. I agree that the whole Hannibal thing is biased. SirBob42 (talk) 23:20, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Military history WikiProject coordinator election

The Military history WikiProject coordinator selection process is starting. We are aiming to elect nine coordinators to serve for the next six months; if you are interested in running, please sign up here by February 14! TomStar81 (Talk) 02:01, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

David Gest

Thanks for the suggestion about opening dialogue on this article's talk page. I have now done so; hopefully we will see some constructive progress in the future. Please note, though, that I had previously tried to open dialogue with anonymous editors who were deleting entire sections that had been sourced and vetted, and replaced it with unsourced "fannisms" NPOV violations and utter nonsense. They didn't respond to pleas to stop and dialogue, and left no explanation for their mass deletions. This unconstructive editing borders on vandalism, and Wiki admins are now blocking several of the IPs.

Please look over the article and let me know what you think of it now. I'm trying to rebuild it as NPOV and informative —Preceding unsigned comment added by Swilli88 (talkcontribs) 16:36, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for suggesting that, but I have written over a dozen articles and know about that stuff. But I am about to call it a night. Also could you tell me if the image I uploaded is okay to keep, it is on the Ancient Empires Elysium main page.Harebag (talk) 04:32, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Minor characters in the Ranma ½ manga

I have nominated Minor characters in the Ranma ½ manga, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Minor characters in the Ranma ½ manga. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. ^demon[omg plz] 14:23, 25 February 2008 (UTC) 14:23, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

message

I'm sorry if posting the same message on the anime and manga Wikiproject talk page was bothering you. I was only asking a question, and no one responded to it. I was asking if anyone could help me with the future article, Kiyotaka Furushima, and no one answered.Kitty53 (talk) 21:28, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Sorry. Sometimes, I can't help myself.Kitty53 (talk) 21:31, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Removing Galleries

Hi!

What is the point of removing galleries from skyscraper articles such as the Bank Of China Tower. Yes, one can find the pictures from Commons, but only the best ones were chosen to the gallery. Furthermore, by removing the gallery you also remove the date information related to the pictures - or at least make that information more hard to access, as one has to access the EXIF data of the picture. Technologically oriented people may know how to do that, but it's highly likely that a good part of Wikipedia users don't even know about EXIF. --Siipikarja 23:39, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Ok, fair enough. Thanks for your detailed answer and sorry for my late response. --Siipikarja 19:18, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

New! BCAD drive from Milhist

Can I invite you to particpate in our new assessment drive? It's strictly for experienced wiki-gnomes and has a degree of friendly competition built-in. It involves re-evaluating around 3500 Milhist B-Class articles to ensure they match our new criteria. As ever, we're offering a range of awards as our way of expressing our thanks. The drive doesn't start until 18:00 (UTC) on March 10 but you can sign up in advance here. It would be great if you can spare the time, --ROGER DAVIES talk 05:33, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Woodrow Keeble heavy-handed editing

Twice in the past few days you have arbitrarily overruled (for want of a better term) decisions I had made on this entry. Of course Wikipedia is an open-source resource and you are free to do so. I also recognize that you have some purview over military history entries. However, in both cases your edits were arbitrary, "I know best," sorts of changes that you explained with a distain for my work that was insulting.

I am a working historian with an expertise in military history. I had enjoyed getting the hang of adding good content to existing entries and creating the Woodrow Keeble entry (specifically with an eye towards having it ready once his MOH was announced - mission accomplished). I was looking into getting more involved, starting to create entries for some of the missing battles and other issues listed elsewhere in the military history pages. No more. Your heavy handed actions have killed my desire to contribute further. I urge you to more carefully consider your approach to collaborators in the future. Award

The Barnstar of Diligence
For your great job and dedication to Wikipedia, and for being a Transformers fan, I hereby award you this barnstar. Best regards, Húsönd 23:44, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Great work really, keep it up! Too bad you do not wish to become an admin, you'd make a great one. If you ever change your mind and be in need of a nominator, just tell me and I'll be happy to kick you into the snake pit nominate you. :-) Regards, Húsönd 23:44, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

You're welcome! By the way, admins don't have to be experts in everything, like you said some are active in only a few areas where usage of the tools is needed. And they specialize in those areas only. For instance, I don't deal with copyright and I don't deal with images either (apart from uploading them). I mentioned on my RfA that I did not intend to work in those areas and nobody asked me anything about them. I know that you have plenty of experience in e.g. fighting vandals and, along with the rest of your editing experience, that would certainly suffice for a successful RfA. So, anytime you feel ready, just let me know. :-) Best regards, Húsönd 17:54, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I will award barnstars according to completion of the challenge for those who signed up earlier but who haven't yet completed the challenge. Oh, ok. Yeah, I'm thinking of signing up. --SharkfaceT/C 19:02, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

How did you visit Washington, DC without visiting either Maryland or Virginia? No matter how you got to DC, you had to have travelled through either state. Unless you took a helicopter I guess. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ratherthanlater (talkcontribs) 2:48, May 15, 2008
