Having seen your reversion of my edits concerning Warren Keith Urbom, I will explain why I will shortly change them back. Judge Urbom never retired in the LEGAL sense of that word, he retired in the colloquial sense only. If you examine his FJC Bio entry, https://www.fjc.gov/node/1389051 , you will notice that it does not say "service terminated due to retirement." As a comparison, look at the FJC Bio entry of former Judge Jennifer B. Coffman, https://www.fjc.gov/history/judges/coffman-jennifer-b. , which clearly says "service terminated due to retirement.

Coffman legally and fully retired. She ceased to be a United States District Judge. Urbom never did so. He took inactive senor status, something that is indicated on the very reference link you yourself provided. He closed his chambers, gave up staff and no longer heard cases or participated in court business. HOWEVER. He continued to be a Senior United States District Judge.

His service as a Senior United States District Judge ended with his death. While he did not actively carry out the duties of his office, he was still very much a Judge until his death. His termination date should properly reflect his death date and his termination reason should be given as death. When FJC Bio updates his biography within the next day or two, it will indicate, "service terminated due to death."

I will clarify in the body of the article that he did not perform any active service for the court after he took inactive senior status. Safiel (talk) 18:44, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Update Just to note that Urbom's FJC Bio entry has now been updated for his death, confirming what I said above. Additionally, here is a better link for Jennifer B. Coffman, since the above link may not work properly, https://www.fjc.gov/node/1379291 . Safiel (talk) 00:16, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
