I Wanna Be with You[edit]

That is not something that is stated in liner notes, you definitely pulled that information from Discogs specifically this [1]. Do you even know what liner notes are??? Pillowdelight (talk) 01:33, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Both of these sources just state it was featured on the soundtrack, doesn’t state it was actually released as a single to promote the soundtrack. As well as, that "liner note" from Discogs also doesn’t state it’s a single from the soundtrack. [2] [3] Pillowdelight (talk) 01:46, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't matter if it's also on discogs. The media itself is a valid source. Yes, that could be considered a liner note and I'm aware of what they are, thanks. You might want to look up the definition yourself. Saying "taken from" a release typically means it is being promoted as a single from the release... this is very, very common. Breaktheicees (talk) 06:14, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
"Taken from" does not = single. Many songs — including standalone tracks are included on soundtracks but that doesn’t mean it’s an automatic single from it. Like I said the entire liner notes doesn’t even state anything remotely of it being a single. Pillowdelight (talk) 06:35, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Even if you're going to disregard that saying "taken from" when on a single does indeed often indicate a single – surely you can admit that there's some additional context clues here. Having both of the images of both records on the single, the movie's logo (subtitled music from the motion picture) being on the cover and the disc itself, and the movie billing credits being on the back of the single pretty clearly indicates that the single is promoting the movie's soundtrack in some way. This feels a bit stubborn to me but it doesn't matter as I've found another, also valid source. Breaktheicees (talk) 07:03, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hey. So I was looking at I Wanna Be with You’s page and wanted to get your opinion on this thought I had. Since this is the international release, do you think it would be wiser to change the single release date for Candy to the UK release date? Like I think it would be wiser to change it to April 24, 2000 since it would make more sense as it’s mentioned this is for the re-release. I would also change I Wanna Be with You to the lead since it was released first in the US. But let me know your thoughts. Pillowdelight (talk) 10:07, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I looked into the release date for "Candy" in Australia to see how that would factor into this. I found a date of March 3, 2000, but that seems inaccurate since it first charted there on February 20, 2000. Either way, it seems that "Candy" was definitively the first single from the album in Australia prior to the single release of IWBWY anywhere, so I think it should remain first.
