Posting pages to the userspace of another editor

How would I go about posting this[1] page to the userspace of Some Gadget Geek? They have graduated from the CVUA, and to show this, it is necessary to post the page to their userspace. The only problem is I cannot figure out how. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 22:15, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean by "posting a page". Do you want to move it? That works just as in mainspace, except you want the target to be in the User namespace and the new name to begin with "Some Gadget Geek", say User:Some Gadget Geek/CVUA graduation or something like that. Huon (talk) 22:20, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
I wasn't one hundred percent on whether that was the appropriate route to take as far as putting the page under the userspace of the editor above. The exact line from the page in question that confused me was "Once you graduate I will copy this page into your userspace so you have a record of your training and a reference for the future." Yes, I know I said "posting" instead of "copying". Tah-may-toe, Tah-mah-toe. Still, you accurately and fully answered my question. So, thank you for the help, Huon. :) Boomer VialHolla! G13 tagging

If I am to tag an abandoned draft, does the draft have to contain the AfC submissions template somewhere in the text? No, I do not mean articles that contain the text, but have yet to be submitted. I'm talking about articles that simply do not have the template. Thanks, in advance. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 07:55, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

Yes, a draft must contain an AfC template to be eligible for speedy deletion per G13. — Godsy (TALKCONT) 09:29, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Good thing I removed the inappropriate CSD G13 tags I posted, then. Thank you, Godsy. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 09:33, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Do they also have to be under articles labeled "Draft:X"? Or is it fine to CSD G13 abandoned AfC submissions under user sandboxes? Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 11:44, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Any page in draft or userspace (which includes user sandboxes) with an {{AFC submission}} template that has not been touched for six months is fair game for G13. Yunshui  12:52, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

It doesn't appear that the entries below the list are duplicates. It seems more like it was intended to be added to the list, but the editor who added the content could not figure out how. Unless you are seeing something I missed. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 20:04, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

Drafts not in English

I'm not sure what is supposed to happen to drafts not in English but WP:PNT doesn't handle them. I've asked at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Articles_for_creation#Pages_not_in_English.3F Siuenti (talk) 19:45, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

Siuenti Do you mean the article I tagged as needing translation from Spanish to English? Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 19:48, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
Yes Draft:Listeen Siuenti (talk) 19:49, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
Siuenti I didn't realize PNT doesn't cover drafts. Though I don't see why not, as it can be done as a courtesy. I digress, that's a different discussion, for a different day. Apologies about any confusion, or inconvenience caused. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 19:55, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
Yeah there should be a way to ask for translation as a courtesy, I'll see if I can find one. Siuenti (talk) 20:06, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

@Boomer Vial:, DoRD - yeah there are roughly 4 (2 very active) LTAs pretty much exclusively using that 2607:fb90 range. I can give more info but would rather not do it completely on-wiki, cause you know, WP:BEANS ;) CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 21:10, 26 March 2017 (UTC)

Draft category formatting

Using Draft:List of kammas category as an example, how would you properly create a draft category to submit for AfC? Would you create the draft page, just have intro text (like normally found in categories), then go to pages that would fit within it and tag with [[Category:proposed name]]? If so, that is intuitive and straight forward but also doesn't seem correct (although I may be wrong, if I knew the answer I wouldn't be asking here haha).

Thanks for your time!

TheSandDoctor (talk) 16:12, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

Autopatrol and New Pages Review

Hi again! Thanks for helping me get my rollback and pending changes reviewer rights. I'd like to inquire now about the other rights I can apply for at WP:RFPERM. Of them, I think my next bets would be WP:AUTOPATROL and WP:NPR. However, I know there are some prerequisites in which admins would consider before granting such rights; based on what I have done so far, would you suggest that I am ready to go ahead and apply for these rights? Cheers, ««« SOME GADGET GEEK »»» (talk) 05:44, 31 March 2017 (UTC)

Some Gadget Geek Considering the fact that you just got roll back and pending changes reviewer rights, you should hold off on any more rights requests. You should gain some more experience, and reapply in like 3 - 5 months time. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 21:47, 31 March 2017 (UTC)

The article East Pakistan—Federation of Malaya relations has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unsourced

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:Deceased a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Waggie (talk) 10:32, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

Waggie Er, why are you templating me? I was unable to move the page without the assistance of an administrator, and I only originally moved the content, as I thought it was an inexperienced editor creating a draft article. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 10:38, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
Sorry, Twinkle did the template automatically when I CSD'd the copy/paste move you did (to the draft article page). The Norman Musa page that was on the Draft talk is now back to the correct location. You can safely ignore this. Waggie (talk) 10:44, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
No problem, and acknowledged. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 11:01, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

Undelete Help

I see that you and/or Fastily deleted my article "Draft:Exsite Webware" on this date. Are you able to help me retrieve my article? It was a good article, and I've never been unable to understand why it was deleted. It was quite a bit of work to create the article, and I don't want to lose it while I try to figure out why it was deleted. I'm unable to understand the procedure for undeleting the article by myself, so assistance would be much appreciated. This instruction, for instance, doesn't make any sense: "Visit the page where your submission previously existed." If it previously existed, it no longer exists, so I can't visit it. Many thanks, Santamoly (talk) 16:37, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

@Santamoly: Only an admin can undelete pages. I've done so for your draft. Please be aware it will be deleted again if it isn't improved. --NeilN talk to me 16:46, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

OKAY THANKS68.119.150.29 (talk) 12:34, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Daniel Belardinelli

I created the original page and developed it over time. The infobox that was added had errors, and, I thought the recently added photo above the article without a box was more esthetically pleasing. Now that I've removed the box I cannot seem to get my photo back up from wikicommons. Please revert. Thank you Camimack (talk) 02:27, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Camimack I did not do so right away because I seen that you made an edit immediately after I reverted your removal of the infobox. Apologies again about my erroneous revert. I'm not sure why you are asking me to revert my changes, however, as you undid them afterwards. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 04:40, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

I am asking if you can get my photo back on top as I cannot now Camimack (talk) 04:56, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Camimack Oh, yeah sure no problem. Apologies, I just wasn't 100% sure there. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 04:57, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
Done I've rescued the infobox, and the image as well from the previous revision. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 05:00, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Thank you, but,I was trying to delete that infobox in the first place as it has inaccuracy and I just wanted to have the photo at the top. Can you get rid of the infobox and place my photo back at the top as it had been before someone changed it erroneously? Sorry for the miscommunication. Camimack (talk) 05:10, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Camimack I'm sorry, I am not familiar enough with Wiki-language and images to do so. You could always use the help me template, or the help desk to ask for another editor to assist you. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 05:33, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Thank you. The infobox has the wrong birthdate and now another editor reverted it again and is accusing me of coi and being in an editing war! This was not my intention. I created this first submission 3 years ago and it took a lot of voluntary effort as I hold down 2 jobs and am a single mother. I did not attempt creating another page for a long timevdue to time restraints, and when I did, the editor who is accusing me of the coi and editing war changed my other article as well, but I reverted it stating why. Please do not take what I did as a "war" My intention was just to correct and improve the article. Sorry Boomer Camimack (talk) 03:24, 14 April 2017 (UTC)

I use templates a lot. But templates aren't always the best course of action, especially when an editor is trying to make a point. In these cases, it may be more productive to craft a custom message acknowledging they may have a point and telling them what they need to do to get what they want. Now, many times you'll be ignored but occasionally you'll be pleasantly surprised. --NeilN talk to me 01:35, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

Can you PLEASE stop closing discussions at ANI you shouldn't be closing. --NeilN talk to me 01:00, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

NeilN Fine. I wasn't aware that one cannot close the discussion if too closely involved. I was also closing a previous ANI case I filed, in which the editor was blocked. I managed to mess it up though, so let me revert that. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 01:02, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
You shouldn't be closing as discussion isn't done yet. --NeilN talk to me 01:04, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
NeilN Apologies. I was under the incorrect impression that the conversation was rather irrelevant to the ANI case, in it's self per my rationale behind the close. Should I undo it, since nobody else seems to be? Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 01:07, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
Unless Coffee is going to respond to my post, leave it closed. ANI cases can begin as one thing and easily morph into something else. In this case, it opened as describing a symptom and then moved into a discussion about the cause. --NeilN talk to me 01:12, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
NeilN I see. Again, apologies about the erroneous closes. Like the IP editor said, just trying to help. I seem to be more getting in the way, though. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 01:14, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

If you still want to ask, gimme an hour, okay? Going to get a bite to eat. Or email me. --NeilN talk to me 02:23, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

NeilN No problem. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 02:25, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
NeilN I was going to ask you about AIV being protected, as well as the rationale behind doing so. I have a feeling I know why, but out of respect of Coffee, I won't ask, if you don't tell. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 03:34, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
Someone (supposedly a sock) was occasionally posting 30-50 reports to AIV all at once. Some editors/admins saw that as disruptive, some didn't. Some admins saw the reports as unactionable, some didn't. Protection was put in place until edit filters preventing that behavior were written. --NeilN talk to me 04:02, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
I thought so. I was at the eye of that mess. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 04:11, 18 April 2017 (UTC) NeilN Whoops. Pinged the wrong admin. As an additional comment, I have a feeling this might be the same editor. They are still leaving questionable AIV reports, as noted on their talk page. Boomer VialHolla! Avissinias Square article

Hi, I received a message from you today, announcing me that my draft Avissinias Square is about to be deleted (G13 code). I tried to open it, but it was already deleted (BTW, if you allow me to make a comment, maybe it will be a fine ideea to let at least a day before delete an article, so the author could do something). I tried to follow the instruction in order to retreive my draft, but I hace to admit it was a little bit difficult for me be sure I followed the steps correctly. I did go to the link suggested, I put the title, but then I was sent to another page, asking me to input the name of the article. Anyway, I cannot see my page again, I am not sure what to do again. I know you are busy, but maybe you can offer me a little help to succeed. Many thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cher-cher (talkcontribs) 11:19, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

Ha. By the way, if you move an article, please tell the newbie where to find it and add a {{subst:AFC draft| username}} header for them. --NeilN talk to me 21:12, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
Chrissymad Why G12, though? I checked it through Earwig's copyvio checker, and nothing came up. I also looked at the article linked in your notice, and see no similarities. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 02:19, 27 April 2017 (UTC)

Counter Vandalism Training

I notice that you have slots available for counter vandalism training. May it be possible for me to receive counter vandalism training from yourself? Note the time difference. (I live in the time zone of UTC+0, though, of course, due to it being spring/summer now, it is actually UTC+1 until October!) Pablothepenguin (talk) 23:50, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

Request on 23:17:15, 11 May 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by 61.68.18.170

Hi there. In my humble opinion the subject is undoubtedly noteworthy. He is the national underage coach for one of the most popular and long established sports in Australia. I have verified this as a fact with reference to an article confirming his appointment on the Australian Rugby governing body's website- www.rugby.com.au . Given this news is unlikely to be published in the Grey Lady I can't think of a more credible source for this fact. The same article also confirms his other coaching roles in club and subprovincial rugby.

I know you can't take it as a basis for anything, but speculation is that the subject will be appointed as head coach of one of Australia's five professional teams in due course, so rest assured at some stage there will be a wiki entry. You/we can get ahead of this now... and the subject is already eminently worthy of an entry.

Thanks for your consideration- John

Oh no!

You happen to be the only trainer in my time zone, but you have no slots open! Are there any others that can help? Or do you have another slot? GermanGamer77 (talk) 17:49, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

trying to upload image

Hi,

I'm trying to upload a scientific magazine cover which bears a photo image taken by the subject I'm describing in my wiki article. I also happen to have the original photo and the permission of the author to use it if I wish. But wikipedia (probably quite reasonably) doesn't believe me that i'm acting in accordance with copyright. What can I do?

By the way, I'm doing all this to help establish the significance of my subject matter -- you had rejected the original article for this reason, so I'm trying to overcome your objection. :)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by LVY72 (talkcontribs) 18:00, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

I (think I have successfully) applied to have my article Draft:NACRA restored so that I can work on it.

I was unaware that my person sandbox was subject to deletion. Hopefully it will be restored. I worked very hard on the article, I had it reviewed on by several message boards dedicated to multihull sailing, and it had a large table that would be extremely time-consuming to recreate.

I would, at minimum like to keep a copy for my own use. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ZeroXero (talkcontribs) 17:16, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Question concerning anon IP

Hi, I noticed you had problems with this anon user User talk:185.86.150.27; this user is making questionable edits and demands at Talk:Afontova Gora; can you clue me in as to whom you suspect this user might be a sockpuppet of? Thanks, Fraenir (talk) 12:26, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

Fraenir Not sure what you're talking about. I haven't been online in a long while, and I fail to see the edits in question on the edit history for the page you mentioned above. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 21:25, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

Counter-Vandalism Training

Hi there! I saw you in the list as the only trainer in my timezone and I wanted to know if you had any more slots available? Thanks for your time!

November 2017

Re: your message to me.

I'm in the process of doing that. One other sock of this persistent troll was just reported to AIV with an only warning and the report was disregarded (current version of AIV as of now, includes sock). Hence, I decided on one more warning as a formality. Crboyer (talk) 06:56, 5 November 2017 (UTC)

Help needed

Hello fellow editor. I need another opinion on this[3] source, and whether it would be sufficient to overturn this[4] edit by an anonymous editor. Thank you in advance. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 04:59, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Your source is a primary source but better establishes the quote as coming from Mullen. The other two sources don't even have the quoted words "The female gaze is transparency". Without knowing your source, I can see why the anon editor made the deletion with that edit summary. To use your source, be sure you take out the unneeded phrase beginning with "Sought for comment...". — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 05:53, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Zimbabwean English.

Zimbabwean English actually follows British spelling conventions, as Rhodesia was a British colony. - (101.98.104.241 (talk) 03:19, 15 November 2017 (UTC))

This Wikipedia using American English, and words that have variant spelling styles should be left as is, unless it is not in consistency with the article. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 03:32, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
