Suggestions[edit]

Tony edit conflicted with me and closed the thread. Here is the advice I was writing:

Again, see OTHERSTUFF. Companies are now subject to very strict criteria because Wikipedia is essentially a high profile, free advertising platform for them.

Looking specifically at Elk I do not see anything but eham, some distributors and a few of the other AR blogs. They seem to be a niche company in an already niche market. If you want to write an article about them I suggest you find three or more sources which are independent or the company and each other which discuss the company not the product in detail. If you can only find independent reliable sources on a product then, if there is enough coverage to pass the general notability guidelines, it might be preferable to write an article on the product and WP:REDIRECT the company to its notable product.

I will take a look at the article and see if I can suggest anything specific. Jbh Talk 02:51, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I see why the article was deleted. You must have independent reliable sources to demonstrate notability. After demonstrating notability it would be possible to cite come non-controversial info to the company web site but Eham is not usable. Beyond that the article is just an advert for their LPDA.
After reading the article and searching around a bit I doubt it will be possible to write a policy compliant article about this topic. Anecdotally, I have been a ham for 15+ years and I have never heard of them. Admittedly VHF is not really my thing beyond repeaters but I'm pretty confident that if they were getting press I would have seen it at some point.
The best shot they have is if they have done something interesting/unique in their antenna design which has been written up in IEEE Antennas and Propigation. Even a QST article would be marginal from a notability standpoint since it would probably be classified as 'trade press'. Sorry I can not be more encouraging. If you write up something more, feel to {{ping}} me or leave a message on my talk page. Jbh Talk 03:10, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
