THANKYOU FOR THE MADHUBALA IMAGES[edit]

That was very kind and helpful of you as i worked hard on that entry but was unclear about fair use and how to upload images. Tee hee, a bit cheeky but i just wrote an extensive article on the actress Nimmi and Ameeta I wonder if you could help with images on them too? Thanks NAvNavsikand (talk) 02:46, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Waheeda Rahman[edit]

Hello Blofeld, I noticed that you removed the disputed fair-use tag for Waheeda Rahman's image page. I thought only admins can remove the tag based on two contending tags whether to delete/retain the images. How can you remove it on your own? Can you please clarify? Mspraveen (talk) 06:12, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. Well, my knowledge from these tags was that only an admin's decision on retaining/deleting the image stands. With all due respect to your edits, I've never had any qualms about it. But, its just my knowledge of the jargon that surrounds these tags that prompted my question to you. Thanks again for clarifying. Cheers! Mspraveen (talk) 14:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Perfecto! :) Btw, I have a question here. You may look at this revision on Riya Sen article. I was not sure if this revision is appropriate. The concerned image is used under fair-use in the article page and yes, it surely can be used under fair-use. I really wonder the editor's rationale in deleting the image from the article space. The purpose of the image being used in the article is to indicate the actress' most well-received and well-acclaimed film in her professional career.
And, I'm not sure, but you might know the answer to my question - Image:428px-001 A.jpg: Isn't the licensing insufficient here? It should be in the OTRS, isn't it? Thoughts? Mspraveen (talk) 14:35, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks once again for your thoughts. I really appreciate it! :) Mspraveen (talk) 14:43, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cities in Slovenia cat[edit]

My apologies for the false revert. With all the vandalism going on, I must say that on this revert I was a bit rash. Thank you for clarifying the blank with a template. --Amaraiel (talk) 13:17, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re. Cities, towns and villages in Slovenia[edit]

Sure! :-) Particularly, I think that we should add infoboxes to some Slovenian municipalities that are still lacking them. We should also replace the municipality pink maps with the orange ones that, in my opinion, look better. Regards, Húsönd 14:24, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent work! :-) By the way, later I'll get some data from the Novo mesto city website, the article is lacking data on its infobox. Regards, Húsönd 14:37, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I will go to Novo mesto in the coming weeks, I'll take many pictures then for sure. And this reminds me that I should add some pics I took of Kranj, Ptuj, etc., to the respective articles. Got plenty here... Keep up your outstanding work!!! Regards, Húsönd 15:31, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
PS: you can choose one of Kranj's from my gallery and update its userbox with it. :-) Regards, Húsönd 15:35, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Lundan.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Lundan.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add , without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 15:09, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IndiaFM images[edit]

Hey Blofeld, how are you doing buddy?? It has been so long since I last talked to you. I am practically done University. Now, I just have to finish my exams, which begins in about two weeks. After that, I am free. =) LOL. Anyways, there is some very good news. The good news is that the IndiaFM licence has been cleared. After getting the agreement from IndiaFM, I got in contact with Riana, as you suggested. Riana then created the licence for me, which can be viewed here. After that, I was in constant contact with the makers of IndiaFM informing them about the licence and everything. After that, Riana sent our conversations to OTRS. I am so happy that this is finally solved and we know have images for Bollywood articles.

Note: Read the licence carefully. To avoid the mess like what was the case with the Bollywood Blog images, we have to upload images in batches, for e.g. three-four images. BUT it must first have to pass through the OTRS system. You have to e-mail them at "permissions@wikimedia.org", providing the links of the pictures from the IndiaFM website. After they notify you that everything is okay, you can then upload the images onto Wikipedia. BTW, when sending an e-mail to OTRS, you have to store the ticket number in the subject of the e-mail (which the members of OTRS created to distinguish between things) and refer to it when sending them the images to process. I will send you that via e-mail. If you have any questions regarding this matter or need further clarification, feel free to let me know. Regards --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 16:29, 1 April 2008

Thanks for the barnstar Blofelfd. I really appreciate it. As I told Shahid, it feels great when your work is appreciated by people. We will finally have images to put on the pages of Bollywood articles. =) To avoid the mess we had with the Bollywood Blog images, Riana suggested this system of uploading the images. Even though it is a bit confusing and long processing method, it's worth it!! Regards --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 18:50, 1 April 2008
Blofeld, I finally uploaded the IndiaFM images. What do you think of them?? Since we have to send images in batches, I already uploaded the first batch. I am getting ready for the second batch (Karisma Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, etc.) I couldn't upload them before as I was busy with my University exams. --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 05:44, 14 April 2008

Settlements in Slovenia: maps[edit]

Hi, Blofeld. Thanks for your contributions. May I suggest adding links to Geopedia.si instead of Maplandia? That's for the following reasons:

 • a map of the whole settlement is shown
 • the site provides much more data (the municipality, geocoordinates, altitude, area, etc.)
 • a backlink to Wikipedia is provided
 • the site is non-commercial

See for yourself e.g. in Srgaši. --Eleassar my talk 07:31, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another thing: why are Imperial units written before the metric ones? In Slovenia only metric units are used. --Eleassar my talk 07:50, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Second another thing: OVL in the Slovene Wikipedia means either the description, the license or the source is missing, so please don't add such images to the English Wikipedia without providing additional data to verify they're free. They're mostly not. --Eleassar my talk 07:59, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SLovenia[edit]

Hi there I recently created some articles on some towns and villages in SLovenia and am currently adding the maps and some details. I uploaded some images on Gažon from slovene wiki but their license OVL -I have no idea what this is. It clearly is free to use but would you be able to shed any light on it? I'm not certain it is GFDL ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:51, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the GFDL tag from this image. sl:Slika:Panorama-s.jpg may be marked "OVL" but we need proper verification that the license is free before we can use it. The folks at Category:User sl might be able to help you.

Thank you for uploading Image:Gažon1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Stifle (talk) 11:19, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:AmericanGangster07.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AmericanGangster07.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:24, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Slovenia project[edit]

Not sure what you mean by a fully fledged project, but in general there are no requirements. The only thing I might say is that it might be a good idea to keep using the Europe banner, simply for the purposes of reducing the number of banners on some of the pages about historical subjects which cross existing borders. If you're talking about changing the name to WikiProject Slovenia, that should be fairly simple, but you'd want permission from the Europe project in advance, considering it is right now a sub-page of that project. I can't see any objections to the name change coming up, though. John Carter (talk) 14:43, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about getting that impression. Your work is noticed. I reply when I have something to say. Perhaps it is too early to open a new project as unfortunately only a tiny fraction of all users who have signed up actually write content. It's best to communicate your ideas at the talk page of the task force before making big changes to gain consensus first. --Eleassar my talk 15:16, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Again great work Blofeld, the templates are very nice and useful. :-) Perhaps User:Tone could provide better translations, my Slovene is improving by the day but it still sucks. I live in Ljubljana, not Novo mesto. Regards, Húsönd 16:53, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Africa[edit]

Only 41 in Djibouti? It's 23000 square kilos. 13 in Saint Helena, 15 total in the Seychelles, 77 in Swaziland, and 33 in the Western Sahara. Several thousand in several others of course. Probably not many total, but it might be fairly easily possible to at least ensure that those which only have numbers in the hundreds all get covered. I'll try working on some of them myself as time permits. I think I might be able to do the sites in the Spratly Islands in Asia. Komen[edit]

Hello Blofeld. I've visited the Slovene municipalities of Divača, Sežana and Komen today. Took some pictures, you might be interested. I've just discovered that we don't have the coat of arms of Komen, not even in Commons. Any ideas for getting this coat of arms? Regards, Húsönd 00:24, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Blofeld! :-) By the way, do you know how to make transparent the background of the coats of arms? I have a lousy image editor. Regards, Húsönd 12:32, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Several Slovene municipalities' coats of arms have white backgrounds. Check my Slovenia gallery and see the difference between e.g. the coats of arms of Koper, Kranj and Ptuj (all with transparent background) and the others with ugly white rectangle backgrounds. Screenwriters[edit]

I can't really call it a project, I haven't been able to drum enough interest to even call it a task force. I would like to create lists of screenwriters and have been looking for opinions other than my own regarding list sorting. Do you have an opinion for or against the creation of lists of screenwriters by decade for television and film? There may be some bleed over from decade to decade of individual writers, but rarely would they be active for more than 2 or 3 decades, William Goldman is the rarity, not the rule. I haven't had much luck creating pages, nearly every one gets challenged, I think they get points to delete things the moment after creation. I can do some intense population of the lists before creation, but it would be easier to get them up and then increase population afterwards. Does this sound reasonable to you? Little context in List of Slovenian dancers[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on List of Slovenian dancers, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because List of Slovenian dancers is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting List of Slovenian dancers, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. See, I've no problem with your last comment, be more civil first time round and I'd be more on board with what you're saying. As it is, I do not see why the fact I do not have as many edits as you makes me any less of a contributor or have any less right to enforce Wikipedia policy or make edits that I see fit. As I said, if you had a problem with the speedy deletion of the article, then add hangon to the page. And that would be fine! Being incivil on my talk page is not the way to resolve the situation. Porterjoh (talk) 12:24, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Buttonmoon1.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Buttonmoon1.jpg.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:20, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi James, I'm so sorry, I've been on a break. Could you please forward those e-mails to me that the flickr users have sent you? I will have it taken care of by tomorrow. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Brad Renfro.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Brad Renfro.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr If you've written a quality article... 14:05, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The provincial-level templates idea sounds like a good one. Since the French Wikipedia uses departments, I would call them that as well for the sake of uniformity. --Acntx (talk) 13:09, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I really thought that the Department page looked excellent. I like the template as well, but with it being kind of large, I would probably do away with the map so that each of the columns could extend across the template, making it smaller in size. Before I go, I wanted to tell you that I usually work on Wikipedia during the late night hours, but a round of severe thunderstorms blew through my area (Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex) last night and I lost power for around four hours, which delayed my response. --Acntx (talk) 15:55, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've just revamped Wikipedia:WikiProject Thailand to allow for a WikiProject template (and made a bot request to have it slapped onto the talk pages of all Thailand-related articles so we can start figuring out how many Thailand-related articles there are and which need improving, and not rely on just using the WPSEASIA template. However, I'm trying to figure out how to get the stats in the rainbow-colored assessment box updated. Anyway, anything you could do to help fix up the project and get things rolling would be great. I've now decided that my next project after longstanding Zinta article will be Kal Ho Na Ho. I have one question. I'm soon gonna create a Release section. Would it be appropriate to include in the section its releases out of India. It was one of the first Bollywood films to attain wide theatrical releases in Germany, Poland etc., so what do you think? ShahidTalk2me 16:11, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I LOVE Sarah!!!! I think she is a fantastic singer. She has some amazing songs. I have one album of hers, and a number of great songs. Yeh the article has a long way to go, but I think making a film GA is much easier than making a BLP on a living person, and in our case, a media person. Angkor in WPTHAI template[edit]

How horrible! Just an oversight on my part. Badagnani (talk) 09:53, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Blofeld of SPECTRE. This is second time for us to meet each other after the South Korean PD template. I saw your contribution on Korean museum related articles and you seem to be into museum related subject. I really appreciate your effort and boldness, however, almost all of them have no reference and nothing but just one sentence! I'm concerned that the articles could be out from here because of the poor status. I implemented some of the articles, especially 'national museums' as adding one or two more sentences with references. Those are unlikely deletable due to the titles having "national" but the rest of them seriously need to expand soon to prove their notablility. Well, I've tried doing the job but these are over 80 articles, so I need your cooperation for the articles. --Appletrees (talk) 13:58, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, some of the articles are soon tagged with template of lack of reference and notablity by admins and there has many precedences like the articles, so my worrying the situation is valid. If each articles of over the 80 articles have one or two more sentences with references and external links, I would not worry them being deleted.--Appletrees (talk) 14:09, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It indeed would be very helpful if you add official site to the articles. Thanks--Appletrees (talk) 14:14, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was really glad that you cared about the project. But why I feel pressured to expand them is the list articles was initiated by me. Anyway, you said you have a bot to create such stub articles which sounds fantastic! Could you introduce what bot you used for them?--Appletrees (talk) 14:21, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, you're very good at coding and deserve to be awarded by people for your devotion to Wikipedia. :) Yes, this site is owned by "American businessman", so articles are inclined to being US-centric. I'll ask your help if I think red links ought to be gone. Thank you and keep up the good work! --Appletrees (talk) 14:37, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, just leave them, I will search related information in Korean sites. Thanks--Appletrees (talk) 14:52, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks!!! I think the newspaper use alternate names instead of the official title but I'll add info from Korean sites --Appletrees (talk) 15:41, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Madeira and the Canary Islands[edit]

There are the Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Madeira work group and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Spanish Africa work group, which I think you were referring to. John Carter (talk) 18:18, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Assessments for the Madeira work group are also automatically added to the Portugal project through the functions in the Africa project banner. I set it up as part of "Africa" because of its physical location, but acknowledged the ties to the parent country, so the one Africa banner now functions for both Africa and the parent country. The Africa project banner is set up to allow such assessments for all the formally designated work groups. John Carter (talk) 18:26, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I thought it was 245 thousand. Seeing 245 million shocked me for a second, making me wondering about just how fast they breed over there. There isn't a separate group for the Azores, which still fall directly under the Portugal project, basically because there isn't a separate geographical project, like the Africa project, they would fall under. I suppose it would be possible to create one, probably directly under the Portugal project, but you'd probably want to contact that project directly to set it up. Image copyright problem with Image:15 aout.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:15 aout.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

 • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
 • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Speedy deletion of Anlong Run[edit]

A tag has been placed on Anlong Run requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Kironide (talk) 02:06, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:BashutheLittleStranger.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:BashutheLittleStranger.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 09:33, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Film film film :)[edit]

Because I'm fed up dealing with uneducated, unkind, POV pushers and teenagers who don't really know what should and what shouldn't be included in every article. I'm fed up with finding myself fighting with sockpuppetors and trying to explain things. And explain what? That a historian's view cannot be regarded as a fact -- but a view! What kind of nonsense is this? That's tiresome! And above all, I have to fight for over an hour to make an admin understand that the page must be protected and only after pleading with him, he does the required! I had to go through several admin talk pages and ask for page protection. Only after my edits had been reverted and constituted another clear evidence of an edit war, it was protected. It's literally silly! Regards, ShahidTalk2me 17:21, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey buddy! I strongly agree with you. If we don't say that about Zinta, who is a top-actress, how can we say that about Riya, who is not as popular, and is mostly known for her item numbers, but that is something you'll have to post on the article talk page. Regards, ShahidTalk2me 18:42, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Blof you are so intelligent, I like that when you are opining on something, and giving your very based and professionally written view! BTW, the image on this article is very beautiful. I think you now have created article even more than those bots who were listed first on the created-articles list LOL... ShahidTalk2me 19:03, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hhh LOL right!! You know, I'm now concerned about the Zinta article. As you know, a few months back, Zinta won ownership rights for a cricket team based at Mohali in an IPL bid for $76 million (!!!).

As a result, over the past few months, she has frequently been featured in the press. But I still don't know if this new activity deserves a new sub-section in the Other work section, and quite frankly, I'm afraid to start a new section (because I'm afraid to ruin the article with a badly written stuff pre-FAC!). She received many positive reviews for her new work and has been described as "actress turned businesswoman" by journalists etc. You can see this recently published article by The Australian, it covers that pretty well. Today her team is going to have its first match BTW. !!!!

As of now, I have only three sentences in the In the media section:

Along with Ness Wadia and others, Zinta in 2008 became the owner of the Mohali Twenty20 team of Indian Premier League. The group paid a total of $76 million to acquire the franchise. The team was later named as Kings XI Punjab.

That's all! But I'm very insecure starting a new full-fledged section... After the Zinta FAC, I feel I'm a very bad writer!!!

What do you think? Should it be written in one sole independent section? ShahidTalk2me 19:17, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeh that's a great developement! ShahidTalk2me 22:03, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am getting ready for the second batch (Karisma Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, etc.) I couldn't upload them before as I was busy with my University exams. BTW.. are you good at copy-editing?? --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 18:27, 15 April 2008

Now that University is over, I am doing well!!! LOL.. I know you are really busy but I was wondering if you could help with copy-editing Kareena Kapoor's article. I really want to see the article achieve a GA status before I go back to University in Sept. Can you help me?? --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 18:36, 15 April 2008
Thanks buddy!! --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 18:43, 15 April 2008
Blofeld, sorry to bother you but I needed to ask you one quick question. On the discussion page of an article, an article is rated by classes (B, A, GA, FA, etc...) For example, let's say that if you expand & improve an article that is initially rated as "start" or "stub", who changes the rating to correspond with the new and improved article?? --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 21:03, 15 April 2008
I totally agree with you!! LOL.. When I was uploading the first batch, I found an image of her but that time, there was already an image of her in the infobox, which was later deleted. That's why, I didn't upload an image of the actress... but now that the previous image was deleted.. I need to get one for her page. --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 02:16, 20 April 2008

Adding images to Italian city info boxes[edit]

Hi Blofeld. Nice to see photos added, but could you remember to use the image_skyline parameter for this, please, rather than making the image part of the commune’s name? See here for an example. Cheers, Ian Spackman (talk) 18:43, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AIV report.[edit]

I've just declined a report at AIV regarding you. Taken your long record on Wikipedia, I declined it straight away, and notified the user that you are most likely using AWB. I let them know here. Regards, Steve Crossin (talk) (anon talk) 10:38, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Blofeld of SPECTRE. You have new messages at Steve Crossin's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the Talkback or Tb template.

If you are reported again, I'll remove the report. As long as you aren't vandalising. But I doubt you are, are you? ;) Steve Crossin (talk) (anon talk) 11:07, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:LetThereBeLight.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:LetThereBeLight.jpg.

Thank you. NotifyBot (talk) 12:46, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reply from Big Bad John[edit]

Hi Ernst! So good to hear from you again! Yes, I have been away for short periods a couple of times and have also been so busy working on my books and articles and just dealing with everyday chores that I have only spent minimal time on the Wikipedia recently. Mostly I have just been trying to keep an eye on a multitude of articles I am particularly interested in and reversing vandalism and making minor editing changes where appropriate.
I think I am busier now that I am "retired" than I was when I was working! I have been meaning to write to you but just haven't got around to it. I notice that you have been contributing mightily to a vast array of extremely diverse and esoteric subjects as always. Good on yer!!!!! It seems like you are really enjoying yourself. (Please let me know when Goldfinger has completed the body painting in gold - and send me a photo please!).
Thanks for the info on the History of Tibet article. I will certainly have a close look at it over the next few days and see if I can make any improvements or additions. BTW - I will be away from the middle of next month until the middle of July (H.K., Canada, and the U.S. of A.) and may be unable to make much in the way of contributions during that time. All best wishes. May the magma keep you warm!

Hi -- I see you reverted my edits. I hope you can find a better way of describing the caves and tunnels rather than a name which may have been made up by the media. I'm afraid that forums as links are not allowed as external links [[WP:EL} and this one is also copyvio as it leads to a New York Times article and I'm removing it as soon as I finish this.Doug Weller (talk) 16:11, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Venezuela banner[edit]

The down side is the Venezuela project created the banner. The up side is the South America banner does everything it does and more. And it is included in over 250 pages, so it's around a little. My guess would be to replace the Venezuela banner with the South America banner on the talk pages individually, and then at the end, maybe tomorrow or so, transclude the Venezuela articles by quality statistics page onto the project page. I can try to do some of that myself, after I figure out how to fix the freaking Agriculture banner. John Carter (talk) 17:08, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And there have only been three edits to the project itself this year, but one was a new member joining in March, so it probably still qualifies as active. But, I dunno why, I think the newest member might agree to deprecating the old banner. Call it a hunch. John Carter (talk) 17:24, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They use the WikiProject Polynesia. I remember there's one of the countries down there where most of the inhabitants belong to a church I don't remember having every heard of, which isn't found outside the country, but I can't remember which one off the top.

By the way, you saw the new template image for Zinta, right? I think most of the questions about it ever getting FA are pretty much gone now. John Carter (talk) 18:51, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sort of envious. You have a relative mentioned here. I don't know of any people I'm related to mentioned anywhere here. John Carter (talk) 18:59, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kazakh districts[edit]

Actually, Kazakh translation of a word "district" is "аудан" (audan, pl. аудандар - audandar). For example, the website of Almaty Province in Kazakh [2], click on Аудандық құрылым. Район (raion) is a Russian name translation of the word. BernardTom (talk) 22:03, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've corrected names of districts. Also some districts have been renamed or merged since 1997. I will finish work, hopefully, next week. BernardTom (talk) 00:18, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Footballers[edit]

I've done a few new Venezuelan footballers, and recently did a campaign to ensure that the most important international footballers in S America have at least one ref/external link & an infobox. In real life I just started a new job, so I'm pressed for time, probably wont be able to do as many large edits as I used to. I've got a list of important South American players needing articles, but the annual trawl through Argentine footballers, (weed, update and add infoboxes) is top of my list. All the best. Replaceable fair use Image:MorganJones.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:MorganJones.jpg.

Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 14:19, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did not delete this since it was also used on another article. Rettetast (talk) 14:20, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

French cantons[edit]

Hi Blofeld. I was wondering, and I know you're busy, but could you help me create French canton articles? I've noticed 2 by Markussep and a few by Dickie, but other than the ~100 I've created there is basically nothing. I know you know about this, but I would be glad if you help me get the over 4,000 uncreated ones started. Editorofthewiki 18:53, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know exactly what you mean by you feeling your head is going to explode. Just take everthing a thing at a time. As to the question can they be copied directly from FR: sort of. I have created Infobox Canton de France, , and , all to be copied from the French equivalent. In addition, I have created Canton interwiki (to be substituted) for copying of the canton name. It stinks that we cant use subst:PAGENAME, so we have to recopy the canton name to the intro and Canton interwiki. A typical article looks like this:

The canton of Montluçon-Est is an administrative division in central France. It includes the following communes: |- | Chamblet || align="right" | 941 || align="right" | 03170 || align="right" | 03052 |- | Deneuille-les-Mines || align="right" | 351 || align="right" | 03170 || align="right" | 03097 |- | Désertines || align="right" | 4 646 || align="right" | 03630 || align="right" | 03098 |- | Montluçon || align="right" | 7 827 (1) || align="right" | 03100 || align="right" | 03185 |- | Saint-Angel || align="right" | 685 || align="right" | 03170 || align="right" | 03217 |- | Verneix || align="right" | 584 || align="right" | 03190 || align="right" | 03305 |} (1) fraction of a commune. ==Demographics== ==See also== *Cantons of the Allier department *Communes of France France-stub Editorofthewiki 19:18, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've just deleted this image- images from Bollywoodblog are released only for non-commercial use, so aren't counted as 'free' by Wikipedia standards. J Milburn (talk) 10:59, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Issue is actually a little more complex than I thought- we do have permission for some to be released for commercial use. I'm looking into it now; maybe the image is valid. J Milburn (talk) 11:08, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've restored the image until I can get to the bottom of the issue. J Milburn (talk) 11:15, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've just realised the image I linked to wasn't from Bollywoodblogs at all- I've restored to the version that was. I am contacting Riana, as she was the one who handled the OTRS ticket on the subject of the images that were released. J Milburn (talk) 11:22, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, Riana has just confirmed that. I'll nuke it. J Milburn (talk) 11:36, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I mentioned it to her on IRC. J Milburn (talk) 11:44, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh you won't be editing... Anyway, have a great day... It's good to spend your time on some good film... Yeh The Aviator is a great picture, and I liked Blanchett's performance as Kate Hepburn. She's a great actress, have you seen Elizabeth? It was directed by Shekhar Kapur, the one who discovered Zinta, whose wife accused Zinta of having an affair with him... Isn't that great how Bollywood and Hollywood connect... LOL!!! I suggest you to read the plot of Kaash! One of the best Hindi films ever. If it was a recently released film, I wouldn't even spend a minute and try to make my best to expand it. That's why I like arty films, they're so realistic, and this one is, as I said, heart rending! Regards, ShahidTalk2me 14:34, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WOW YES!!! ShahidTalk2me 11:48, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Right!!! Those beauty queens are so beautiful... Did you know that India won the Miss world contest the most number of times - 5 - tied with Venezuela... Aishwarya was in 2000 crowned as the most beautiful Miss World ever. ShahidTalk2me 11:59, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WOW really?? How didn't you tell me that before? They look nice! ShahidTalk2me 12:11, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
About what? About the twins? I think, you can never know... Some good looking gals can fall for ugliest/silliest guys... So I guess it was the case of this twin.. LOL! ShahidTalk2me 22:49, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
mmm she is good looking, but I can't say she has that to-die-for face or irresistible beauty.... but she's hot! ShahidTalk2me 12:26, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly! The first one was so loaded... ShahidTalk2me 12:42, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know it sounds silly, but so you think there's any way to take Kaash to DYK? ShahidTalk2me 15:10, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Is there any DYK question you can think of at the moment? ShahidTalk2me 15:16, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What do you think about:
Did you know that Kaash was the first and only movie produced by Yokahama Productions?
ShahidTalk2me 15:36, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WOW I think I have a better one..
Did you know that Kaash, a Hindi film in which Kishore Kumar did playback singing, was the last film released before his death?
Would you rewrite it? ShahidTalk2me 15:50, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What do you think? Can I post it now? ShahidTalk2me 16:06, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Is it written well? ShahidTalk2me 16:23, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey LOL thanks for the copyedits it's GREAT... I meant the DYK question... Is it well written? (haha I killed two birds with one stone ;)) ShahidTalk2me 16:57, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So I'm going with:
Did you know that Kaash, a Hindi film in which Kishore Kumar did playback singing, was the last film released before his death?
Yes buddy? ShahidTalk2me 17:05, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe to change to "released" to "to be released"? ShahidTalk2me 17:06, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Posted DYK question. Hey very great work!!! I have seen several Turkish films... ShahidTalk2me 17:41, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well I must say, the fact that Hindi cinema is relatively more developed than any other world cinema, is a clear evidence of it being very popular isn't it? ShahidTalk2me 17:57, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Have you seen East is East (film)? ShahidTalk2me 18:13, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WOW!! Great work... Aren't you getting tired? :) I make 1000 edits only per month!!! Thanks for the Zinta column title. ShahidTalk2me 22:08, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I guess so yeh, but I'll change it when I hit the 20... ShahidTalk2me 22:17, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I still haven't hit the 20... LOL!! In comparison to you... I look quite idiotic with my hardly 20000! ShahidTalk2me 22:19, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeh!!! I'm so happy we had reconciled before she took a Wikibreak. I miss her very much!!! ShahidTalk2me 22:30, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Museum[edit]

Of course, I do. My stubbing neighborhoods of Seoul is the first step to implement museum articles. Museums in Seoul are strongly associated with their geographic area. Right after finishing up the job, I will focus on museums. --Appletrees (talk) 21:48, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maps[edit]

Do you mean country-wide locator maps for Uruguay, Jordan and Egypt, or provincial maps for them, too? I'll try to do them soon. I have been away for a while – I had a work related deadline, and was too busy... In the mean time, an anon managed to gently remind me that I haven't finished Botswana villages yet[3]. Cheers, Sadalmelik (talk) 05:32, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Madagascar does make some distinction between communes urbaines and communes rurales, and the former may even divided into two categories. Should the categories reflect this? They don't currently... the list I have been using gives 45 communes urbaines, List of cities in Madagascar claims 48 and Category:Cities in Madagascar 88 (most or all of cummunes urbaines are here, I think). Another question then is that when the towns are splitted into provinces (which needs to be done, as Madagascar currently has 700+ articles about settlements), should Category:Antananarivo Province also be removed...
Since you have been doing a lot of these recategorizing, notice, that [4] and its talk page mention about a bot which keeps these redirected categories free of entries. Apparently there has been at least two bots working on this, neither of which are active anymore. However, on quick look all the entries in Category:Wikipedia_category_redirects are empty, so perhaps there is still a bot somewhere depopulating them. Another option would be to use CfD for renaming, as I believe there are bots implementing those decisions. This would not work when the cats need to be splitted, but that should be easy with AWB. – Sadalmelik (talk) 05:52, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
All done, I think... could you take a look whether the category tree is ok? AWB does really speed up recategorization even though it took me for a while to figure out how to use it. – Sadalmelik (talk) 20:15, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't forgotten about these maps - Jordan & Afghanistan are easy, Egypt I may not be able to do, but I'll take a look whether I can find more up-to-date boundary data for it. Re: Dario Poggio[edit]

When I started doing this, I thought it was just going to be for the medalists at the Winter Olympics only, but I was told that the project was to get biographies on every single competitor which I thought was a bit over kill, but decided to get it done any way to the best of my ability. It may be time to set some standards for this in the future and make it applicable to all Olympic-based sports. Oh well. Chris (talk) 23:32, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Size in volumes[edit]

Yo, bald guy. Massive kudos to you for Wikipedia:Size in volumes; completely exceptional piece of work. I'd be very glad if you'd explain what's going on inside , notably #expr: and the :R. Meanwhile, the calculation excludes from consideration images. I'm wondering if there's a basis for calculating the size of these. We can, I think, make assumptions about the average size of images; but can we get an idea of the average number of images per article? --Tagishsimon (talk) 18:10, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, no-one's going to fault you for that (mainly out of sheer eye-popping fear, you understand). Well fsck. Kudos for putting the page together & generally being you. I'll speak to his madness about the maths. --Tagishsimon (talk) 18:16, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stari most[edit]

Hi. I've requested that the disambiguation page you created at Stari most be deleted so that Stari most, Bosnia and Herzegovina can be moved back there. The other bridge you've linked to from the disambiguation page is called the Triple Bridge so I don't see the need for the disambiguation. There may have previously been an "Old Bridge" on the site of the Triple Bridge, but when people use "Stari most" it's almost exclusively to refer to the one in Mostar. I've added an other uses template to that bridge's article though, in case people are looking for the former Slovenian bridge. I think that's more suitable than having a disambiguation page. Madagascar[edit]

Hello Jamie. I think Madagascar one should stay under "Cities in Madagascar" cat, or at least "Cities and towns", since there is an official distinction between cities/towns and villages in this country. --Darwinek (talk) 21:30, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, it is the best thing to do when there is no official distinction between towns and villages but this one is pretty clear. Don't mix apples with pears. Those 48 ones should be under "Cities and towns", rest under "villages". Very clear and clean thing. --Darwinek (talk) 21:37, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing "suddenly" here, no worries :). I just watch Madagascar ones and, as you know, I like things to be pretty consistent. All European countries have clearly defined status of all their settlements. It is good Madagascar is one of a few African countries to do this as such. Feel free to create this category, I can delete redundant ones. --Darwinek (talk) 21:53, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I am going to sleep right now. Please, inform me when Sadalmelik will express his mind, so the proper consensual decision can be taken. - Darwinek (talk) 22:08, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think the subdivision into provincial categories is the way to go. We will eventually have 1,500 articles on Malagasy settlements, which will make the country-wide categories not very usefull. It also removed the clutter from provincial categories e.g. Category:Antsiranana Province (I'm probably the guilty party for the clutter, though). If/when the provinces are dissolved, they will have to be splitted further. The point about official distinction is very valid, and I wish I had thought about it a bit more before I barged ahead. The term Malagasy government uses is commune urbaine in French, but Category:Urban communes in Madagascar doesn't really tell anybody anything here. Re-adding Category:Cities in Madagascar to official cities might be the best thing to do, as it makes it clearer than Category:Cities and towns in Madagascar that these are important places. I have no strong preference either way, though. The government also divides communes urbaines into two classes, but I have never seen a list that would break them down. Interestingly, Ilakaka is not officially a city/town, even though calling it a village is stretching it a bit. Same thing also applies to Botswana, where there are officially towns, urban villages and villages. Sowa with 5000 pop is a town, while places like Maun, Palapye or Molepolole are urban villages with a pop of 50000+.

There are also very few articles about Malagasy settlements, which are not defined at commune-level. I'm not sure what should be done with them - if anything. Another category still needed is for the capitals of regions, though one could also tie them together with a template. – Sadalmelik (talk) 06:39, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bond characters template[edit]

[5] The novels came first, therefore, should have a higher priority. The Nav box should list the characters in novel order. This orderisation should be continued in any lists/articles/templates that show extreme bias towards the films. Ultra! 12:20, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They can be directly described not only acclaimed, but the most acclaimed, but many of them are not Hindi films, many of them are old films, and as you know, Bollywood is the main representative industry for Indian films on Wikipedia... well that's, of course, unfortunately... ShahidTalk2me 15:58, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeh she has acted in an English film by Rituparno Ghosh, a telented Bengali film director who BTw has won numerous National Film Awards in different categories. Also, Jahnu Barua, one of the best known film directors of India, who has won more than 10 National Film Awards (and believe me, if you wanna win a NFA, you must do an exceptional work) for another realistic tale called Har Pall. Of course, I believe she didn't receive as high salry as/(let alone)than before. The payment in art films, which are often realistic, low-budget movies intended to a niche audience, is very low. Most of these films don't even do well at the BO, so you can imagine.
Take for example Raveena Tandon, who was doing always these silly masala comedies, known for her beautiful face, and regarded as simply as that, an average actor who looks a million bucks. This was till the 2000s, when she started working with art film directors. She acted in Kalpana Lazmi's low-budget Daman as a battered and cruely abused wife, and did it absolutely free of costs. And she shocked the industry twice, firstly, when the film was released and everybody witnessed her talent, and secondly, when she won a NFA, it was a flawless performance, I must say. Cortina[edit]

I'll work on it a bit once I've finished my current translation (it:Torre della Lanterna - one of the most important landmarks in Genoa, and I can't find a comparable article in English). Although I've found that running stuff through Babelfish helps a lot - just run a paragraph of text through and then rework what it spits out into recognizable English. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 13:43, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like fun. Can't say I've ever been much of a guitarist myself - I did always want to learn to play an instrument, tho'. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 21:18, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I used to play piano - can't say I was ever that good at it. Oh, well...I'm off home in a minute or two - meantime, check out Torre della Lanterna, which I've been working at off and on all day.
By the by, anything you want me to work on with AWB tonight? If not I may content myself with stubbing some of the as-yet missing Brazilian cities and towns, just for completion. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 21:24, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK - I'll work on some of that when I get home.
Incidentally, I'm amazed at the fact that it's taken this long for somebody to write an article here about the lighthouse in Genoa - it's probably one of the most important landmarks in Italy. Ah, well...no rest for the weary, and all... --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 21:30, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Italy's gorgeous - it's been too long since I last went.
I don't know that much about Italian film, but I'd be more than happy to get a stub run going for any articles you may need on the subject. The more the merrier, say I.
Glad you liked my article :) --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 23:45, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kalpurush[edit]

Hi! i remember the evening when you authored the article on Buddhadev Dasgupta's Uttara. Yesterday I saw Kalpurush, the director's latest offering. The film was quite good. Indeed, I could understand it better than Uttara. And some elements in the film seemed to me to have some common themes with Uttara. "Troupes of masked dancers" are here, too.--Dwaipayan (talk) 08:56, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Added the plot. It's a complex one. Please see if my writing is lucid enough to at least give an approximate idea of the story. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 10:09, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No I did not find any poster. One image is available in this review.--Dwaipayan (talk) 10:25, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, then add the image. Bye the way, the film also won National Award for Best Film in 2006. Added that bit in the lead.--Dwaipayan (talk) 10:27, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! That will be great. I see most of his films do not have wikipedia articles. Those need to be created as well.--Dwaipayan (talk) 10:40, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's marvelous!!! Yes I am trying to add something to Tahader Katha. I saw the film years ago, and have forgot the story. Trying to find out something.--Dwaipayan (talk) 10:50, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok :)--Dwaipayan (talk) 11:44, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

National Award winning films[edit]

I saw your post in Shahid's talk page. Yes, all the films you authored articles on are quite acclaimed, and still lacked an article here. This is really sad, and probably, once again, points towards the systemic bias. Among Indian films, Bollywood films are much more represented in WP than other language films, including Bengali. Again, overall, Bollywood films are much less represented compared to Hollywood flicks. This will continue, perhaps :( Anyway, thanks a lot for creating the articles. Hopw you will be able to create many more such articles, somewhat reducing the systemic bias.--Dwaipayan (talk) 12:46, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another similar case is that of Mrinal Sen. Very few of his films have articles.--Dwaipayan (talk) 13:03, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
thanks a lot. I shall also try to create/expand some articles. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:58, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
FYI: Since you told you are interested in art house films, you can have a look at Ritwik Ghatak as well.--Dwaipayan (talk) 18:17, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Burkina Faso[edit]

It was actually seeing all those stubs popping up on the newpages list that reminded me of the whole bunch of redlinks I found the other day. I'm working on a couple more from the French right now.

Keep up the good work on those sstubs - you're doing one hell of a job. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 17:49, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, my bad - sorry. I didn't mean to write that; don't know how it came to be. Ah, well - it's not what I meant, at least. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 17:53, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed there is. Here's some food for thought - kind of sobering. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 18:01, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For more food for thought, go to nmafa.si.edu and look at some of the artists whose names come up in exhibits. I tried to do stubs for a bunch of them at one time, but I'm sure there are some I've missed. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 18:08, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeesh - sorry to hear that. It's been pretty nice here today - makes a nice change after that horrid drizzle we had yesterday.

I've switched gears a bit, mainly because I want to do something really random; I'm starting articles for some of the sites run by the National Trust for the Cayman Islands. They're nationally-recognized (within the Caymans) historic sites, so I think their notability should be a given. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 18:55, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If this works I may decide to write the Trust for some more information, and photographs, to be uploaded here. I'd like to see these things get some decent coverage. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 18:58, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's amazing the resources that are out there, if you only know where to look. Speaking of...Old Savannah School House. I think it looks quite nice, really :) --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 21:17, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly - after the Caymans it's on to the National Trust for Jamaica...or maybe New Zealand, even. There's tons of material left to transclude here. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 21:25, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Talk archives[edit]

Hi, can you move your talk archives so that they're all subpages of this page, rather than of User talk:Ernst Stavro Blofeld? From the French[edit]

OK, I gave it a shot. Trouble with the French Wikipedia is that a lot of their artistic articles go into criticism of the subject as well as merely reporting on it, and I'm never sure how much to keep and how much to leave out. I excised a bit here, not very much. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 14:54, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - most of north Africa and a fair chunk of west Africa speak French as their first language. I've been trying to catch some things out of the French Wikipedia to enhance coverage, but sometimes the language is so frustratingly obscure that I miss things. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 15:01, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I hadn't - thanks for noting it. In my defense it's my day off and I only just woke up, so I'm still a bit bleary from morning blahs. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 15:04, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Aww, thanks *blush*
I'm honestly a bit flighty in choosing what to work on, but I've been trying to expand coverage of Africa on the English Wikipedia however I can; witness the category of Category:Zimbabwean sculptors, which I created and populated a couple of years back. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 15:08, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's like me and my Caymanian National Trust articles - I'd eventually like to see coverage of every heritage site in every country on here, and what better way to start than with some of these places in the Caribbean? --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 15:17, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To be perfectly honest, it was seeing the work you were doing on French communes that inspired me to get off my duff and do something of my own; I'd let the account lie idle for a while.
Keep up the good work on geography and Africa - this afternoon I'll try and do some AWB recatting for you. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 15:25, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Very impressive - I wonder where it all came from. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 18:17, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that'd be nice.
Per request, I've gone ahead and filled, using AWP, Category:Cities, towns and villages in Costa Rica and Category:Cities, towns and villages in Panama - any more you'd like done? --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 18:52, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Namibia should be fairly easy, as it appears to have been nearly finished. Question: do you want anything filed under Category:Settlements in country to be recatted to Category:Cities, towns and villages in country? That would take care of a couple of things in Namibia. Uganda's straightforward - soon as I dump some laundry in I'll go ahead and work on it. I can do Vietnam, too, if you want; just give me a list and some guidelines. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 18:59, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Meantime, I've done Uganda, and Namibia's taken care of. The one "settlement" listed in that category for Namibia I chose to leave as-is, as it's described as a squatter camp and so really doesn't sound like it's got any sort of permanent status. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 19:12, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll get on those three, then - I'll look at Argentina in a little while. May take a break to work on one or two other things, too. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 19:32, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My pleasure - I'll add Vietnam to the mix, then. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 19:36, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK - Somalia's nearly done, and Laos is finished. I'll get to the others soon as I can. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 19:53, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, but that's the beauty of AWB - I recatted those two Brazilian provinces - about 800-900 articles in total - in just about two hours the other day. It automates a lot of the process for you. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 19:56, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And I've done Saudi Arabia and Vietnam, too. Think I'll leave the rest for a little while and work on something else for a bit. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 20:57, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I may do a few more tonight - knock a couple more of the smaller ones out of the way.
