License tagging for Image:Treos mifami.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Treos mifami.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Meet Me In St. Louis (band), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Meet Me In St. Louis (band) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Meet Me In St. Louis (band), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself.

meet me in st. louis (band) deletion[edit]

Thanks for your note on my talk page. I will look at this within the next day and if I've erroneously deleted, I'll restore...if I still feel it should have been deleted, I'll explain in detail. Regards --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 10:33, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've reviewed the content of the Meet Me In St. Louis (band) article. The sentence that I took as the most relevant was "Their much-hyped first LP "Variations on Swing" received a nationwide release on September 24, 2007 following the release of two EPs, a split release with fellow labelmates Secondsmile and contributions in several compilations." I agree that I misread this and that they do have two EPs and an LP on their own. The fact that the LP has a page of its own on Wikipedia is not relevant in this case, nor is the simple fact of their number of records produced. The specific notability criteria for bands is written at WP:MUSIC#Criteria for musicians and ensembles. However, this is indeed a guideline and not policy, though many editors and administrators treat it as if it has the weight of policy (for better or worse). However, a matter of strict policy is the concept of verifiability and the reliance on "...reliable, third-party published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy." The matter of Sources is problematic for this band, as it is for many bands and the works they create; a brief search did not net me anything "of substance" meaning non-blog and non-commercial (vested interest in reviewing favorably) mentions.
I believe that my deletion of the article was warranted; however, because I deleted under an erroneous reading of the passage that I focused on as the final point (not the only point), I'm going to restore the content and WP:PROD the article. This provides for a 5-day review, and I will post a notification on the appropriate deletion sorting page. I would suggest that in this period that you seek out WP:SOURCES - they do not need to be on-line sources - to support the verification of core content. Meet Me In St. Louis (band)[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Meet Me In St. Louis (band), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page.
