Re: Question[edit]

Hello,

To get an infobox, first you find the infobox template that you want. For example, there is Template:Infobox character, which you might use if you are writing about a fictional character. Once you've found the right infobox template, there is usually a sample code in the template, you copy that template and put it at the top of the article that you want to use it in. The sample code for Template:Infobox character looks like this:

{{Infobox character
| colour =
| colour text =
| name =
| series =
| image =
| caption =
| first =
| last =
| cause =
| creator =
| portrayer =
| episode =
| nickname =
| alias =
| species =
| gender =
| age =
| born =
| death =
| specialty =
| occupation =
| title =
| callsign =
| family =
| spouse =
| significantother=
| children =
| relatives =
| residence =
| religion =
| nationality =
| imdb_id =
}}

Once you've pasted the code in, you fill in any spaces that you want. Here's a sample one I've just done:

The main thing to remember is the {{Infobox character text at the top and the }} at the bottom. If you forget these, then the infobox won't work at all.

George
In-universe information
Nickname"G"
GenderMale

I hope that helps. If you need any more help, please ask. I could even help you do it on the specific article, if you want. Daniel99091 (talk) 08:56, 20 April 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Re: Lifebox or userbox[edit]

Hello Big Brother,

If you want a userbox, visit the Userbox gallery at Wikipedia:Userboxes. Here, you can view all the userboxes other users have made and you can choose ones that you like. When you've found one you like, copy the writing next to the box (for example {{Template:user mathematician}}) and paste it onto your userpage. This particular userbox will look like:

This user is a mathematician.

If you want to group all your userboxes together in a single column, similar to what I've done on my userpage, see Wikipedia:Userboxes#Grouping userboxes.

Hope that helps :) Daniel99091 (talk) 06:11, 5 May 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Reply to Question[edit]

Hey Robert,

Well, first you need to upload the image from your computer onto Wikipedia using the "Upload file" link on the left. Have you done this yet?

Daniel99091 | talk 05:03, 13 July 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Well... if you find the image you need on the net and download it somewhere on the internet cafe computer (or you could use a memory stick or even a floppy disk). Once you have the image somewhere, click on "Upload file" on the left sidebar. Then you select what category your image will fit into (i.e. your own work/you created it, a tv screenshot, a photo, etc.). Some pictures you're not allowed to upload to Wikipedia, if you tell me what you want to upload, then I could maybe tell you if its allowed (if I know, that is). Then you go down and clik "Browse" and find the image on the computer or on your memory stick etc. And write a short summary about the image itself (for example, what it is or where you got it). Then select a license from the drop-down box and click upload.

A tag has been placed on So Fresh: The Hits of Winter 2010 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Orphaned non-free media (File:Tpips_600x300.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tpips_600x300.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 23:37, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Magic fountain cover.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Magic fountain cover.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 05:07, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with upload of File:Never Forget - Single.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Never Forget - Single.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Hi BigBrother1997, I just wanted to let you know that I took a look at your recently created article Come My Way (Christine Anu album)-- This image is real great. However, I noticed there are some holes that may need filling: the article currently does not contain any references. As a new article, the most important thing is to find reliable references for all existing information. Happy editing! Hope your day is going well and you are having fun.Jipinghe (talk) 19:51, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
