How to rename an article

I'm just curious about how to rename an article Krishnabera212 (talk) 08:40, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

See How to move a page. It's not renaming the page but moving the page.

Note

Part 1

Hi Beraniladri19, we don't put prediction from any agency about individual storms. Thanks. ~ Destroyeraa๐ŸŒ€ 17:23, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

But why?? I don't mean to be rude on you, but I gave what the bulletin says Beraniladri19 (talk) 17:25, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

No offense taken. Usually, procedure says that we only say what the storm did, not what individual agencies did. We can include that the JTWC called off the formation alert, but we cannot include that JTWC says it'll weaken. This is because the storm may not weaken. ~ Destroyeraa๐ŸŒ€ 17:42, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

Your recent editing history at 2020 North Indian Ocean cyclone season shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editingโ€”especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's workโ€”whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each timeโ€”counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warringโ€”even if you do not violate the three-revert ruleโ€”should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
The file I linked says 90 knots and the use of it has the consensus of WP:WPTC, so you are edit warring against consensus. Please stop immediately. Jasper Deng (talk) 06:11, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

@Jasper Deng: Ok I stopped, but pls can u explain how a deep depression can be Category 2??

Also you are forcing me to do edit war.

I always try to assume good faith. Beraniladri19๐ŸŒ€๐ŸŒ€ (talk) 06:29, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

It's simple. This is not a deep depression. It has a very well-defined eye and an elementary application of the Dvorak technique suggests far above 30 knots. This in fact should be at the very least a very severe cyclonic storm nearing extremely severe cyclonic storm status. IMD is wrong and you know it. JTWC says it's 90 knots so we do as well; it's not our job to reconcile any differences between them beyond the extent that reliable sources do. WP:AGF is not a justification for you to revert my edits (see also WP:AAGF).--Jasper Deng (talk) 06:18, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

@Jasper Deng: Ok let us wait for the next bulletin, IMD will issue at 11:30 IST (my local time). Beraniladri19๐ŸŒ€๐ŸŒ€ (talk) 06:29, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
Don't expect them to do much; they're known for incompetency (they're considered the worst of the Regional Specialized Meteorological Centers). Also, please sign your comments.--Jasper Deng (talk) 06:26, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng: Yes I know IMD is young but not worse, their timing of issue is slow, that's why Beraniladri19๐ŸŒ€๐ŸŒ€ (talk) 06:29, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
This is getting a little off-topic but they are known for stupidly low intensity estimates and it's not an issue of timing. Cyclone Fani was a clear super cyclonic storm, for example.--Jasper Deng (talk) 06:31, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng: IMD using a weird 3 minute sustained winds that why. Beraniladri19๐ŸŒ€๐ŸŒ€ (talk) 06:36, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
Their estimates are still complete garbage even with that taken into account.--Jasper Deng (talk) 06:40, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng: I know your hate upon IMD but little off-topic its scale is very weird, but its predication is accurate like NHC or JMA. Beraniladri19๐ŸŒ€๐ŸŒ€ (talk) 07:10, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
Nope. Firstly, to predict intensity correctly, you need to assess the initial intensity correctly. Even JMA is considered substandard (they gave Typhoon Rammasun 935 mb even though there was a direct observation below 900 mb at landfall). Secondly, the storm is already clearly stronger than IMD's predicted peak of 50 knots or so.--Jasper Deng (talk) 07:11, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

Cyclone Gati

@Jasper Deng: According to this url https://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/tcdat/tc2020/IO/IO032020/txt/trackfile.txt If it is Category 3 so why the pressure was 1010 mb in 06:00 UTC, November 19ย ??

Also if it do indicates Category 3 so JTWC haven't change it as major tropical cyclone.

Beraniladri19๐ŸŒ€๐ŸŒ€ (talk) 07:46, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

The most recent position is at the top, not the bottom, and features a pressure of 967 hPa. The JTWC will reflect this in their warning issued within an hour.--Jasper Deng (talk) 07:48, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng: So let's debate in WP:WPTC talk page. Because I think little fishy. Beraniladri19๐ŸŒ€๐ŸŒ€ (talk) 07:53, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
There's nothing to debate. Pay attention to the dates on the left-hand side (they are in YYMMDD; 6 UTC November 22 is clearly at the top). This is simply you not knowing how to read that file.--Jasper Deng (talk) 07:53, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

Beraniladri19๐ŸŒ€๐ŸŒ€ (talk) 07:58, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

This very line you quoted clearly says 100 knots (second-to-last value). I don't know how much clearer it could be. You are now in danger of getting blocked for edit warring, given the warning above. If you need help reading these track files, then we'll happily help you, but what you are doing is jumping to conclusions (the "THREE" part has nothing to do with the category; it just means that this is the third tropical storm-force system in the Arabian Sea that the JTWC has warned on this year). Stop making assumptions like that.--Jasper Deng (talk) 08:40, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

Nargis damage

You're right. According to https://www.sheltercluster.org/sites/default/files/docs/annex_3a_-_ayeyarwaddy_cyclone_scenario_planning.pdf, total damage from Nargis was 13 trillion kyat, with an exchange rate of 0.0012 (in May 2008, [1]). Thus turned out to be US$15.6 billion. Chicdat reverting the edits without providing valid reason so you can just neglect the notice. --219.78.191.12 (talk) 15:48, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
