re:good faith assumptions

It would be a major stretch to assume good faith. You have yet to explain your reason for archiving a thread that I initiated like a couple of weeks ago while there were threads sitting there for months. You have also yet to explain why you decided to archive only one of the threads that you claim had "run its course". Your request for an assumption of innocent goof faith mistake is also higly questionable after you had the same problem with an editor that removed one of your talk page comments.[1]In any case, that it not the way talkpages are archived on Wikipedia. They are archived in chronological order. One editor doesn't pick and choose what they feel like archiving. You can do that on your talk page, not on an article's talk page. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 01:00, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First off, and the most easily addressed is the link you provide to my reverting a deleting of a talk thread on Anderson Cooper. Deleting, as you are probably aware is different than archiving. If you point me to the thread you refence - "You have yet to explain your reason for archiving a thread that I initiated like a couple of weeks ago while there were threads sitting there for months." I can likely offer a reasonable explanation but the simple answer is we don't archive threads solely by date, just as we don't edit article fixing the first sentence first then the next sentence and so on. Although some editors choose to do it this way they seem to be the exception. Instead we generally archive talkpage threads that are stale and/or resolved. So even though a thread may be very old, it still may need discussing. I apologize if I archived the RfC thread early, it, to me, had run its course. The changes made and no one had stated any strong opinions that we needed to address anything else. Now that NCDave has reappeared you did exactly what I was about to do - pulling the RfC back up to allow the thread to be reinvigorated if needed. In fact anyone can do that with nearly any thread as long as they are doing so in good faith, avoiding disruption, etc. So I support you un-archiving that and am happy to address whatever other questions about my archiving you may have. Jenny

I know you said you never watched AMC, but this clip will break your heart, and it shows why I will defend Kim to my dying breath. If you look at JesseeJames' page, I also provided a link to Jenny's death week. It's so tragic. Jenny and Greg were the 20th Century's answer to romeo & Juliet. It's been 25 years since Jenny died, but some of us have still never forgotten her and her love of life. Jeffpw (talk) 23:30, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My my, so very much drama and not an admin in sight! Well that does explain things more, we all have our own role models and personal prayer divas so I can see the undying love shrine just billowing with pleas for the goddess to bless their love life. I'm a bit ADD so long-term soaps might never work for me but there is still hope. Banjeboi 04:49, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Honey, you don't know what you're missing. Have you ever heard of Luke and Laura from General Hospital? They were one of the biggest Supercouples of all time. When Luke raped Laura at the campus disco, it was the start of a romance that is quite possibly continuing to this day. The early 80s were a strange and fabulous era for Daytime Drama. Jeffpw (talk) 08:47, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Lol. I think the 80s were strange for everything! I can't remember the exact quote but something like the 80s are the 60s but without all the compassion. Through the filter of soaps though I could see a very different reality. Banjeboi 18:18, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Best Wikipedia paragraph ever!

From Luke and Laura's biography: Luke and Laura returned home where Lulu, Lucky, Nikolas, and Lesley were waiting. Laura apologized to her mother for killing her husband, but Lesley said it was all water under the bridge. She was just happy to have her daughter back. Jeffpw (talk) 16:31, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I do enjoy the over-dramatic story lines! Banjeboi 18:27, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's called mother's love, which I can fully relate to. My mommy is sending me 25 grand to cope with all the unexpected expenses, and would punch God in the eye and kick him in his balls if she thought he was trying to fuck with her kid. My mommy is even better than Lesley. Jeffpw (talk) 01:49, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, well it sticks what you've gone through but congrats on having that support when it's needed! Banjeboi 06:25, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note

I removed a comment from Anderson Cooper's talk page, yet you reverted here. I don't really care, as it's not that bad, but it is indeed forum talk. The top of the talk page says, "This is not a forum". Please only insert comments about how to improve the article - not linking to a video about Cooper that you think is funny. --haha169 (talk) 17:27, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I stated anything but "parodies himself" and this was ... to improve the article. There is little doubt we could insert a sentence "Cooper has also parodied himself on the popular children's show Sesame Street". Seems to me then I was providing a potential source for the article that would in turn ... improve the article. Banjeboi 18:30, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Archiving talk page threads at Talk:Racism

Hi, sorry I did not get back to you earlier. Anyways, about your question, I would like to help, but I am not always very reliable when it comes to these websites, as I go through long periods of time of not logging on and then suddenly come back. Fusion7 (talk) 16:59, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem at all! There were 115 or so threads when we started and it's down to less than 7 so most of it's done - also there was consensus to start auto archiving so hopefully that will help keep talk page clear of future logjams. No worries all around! Banjeboi 20:57, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop Vandalizing the Harvey Milk Page

Do not delete wholesale entire sections of NPOV sourced material. Not only did your Request for Comment to delete reach no consensus (in fact, it was closer to the opposite), but this is not how WP:Requests_for_comment work on Wikipedia.

I understand reading up the page that you feel you've been unfairly treated by Wikipedia. But please refrain from such wholesale deletions of sourced NPOV sections of Wikipedia articles. Mosedschurte (talk) 21:21, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First off, there is no consensus to keep this material, proliferation of SPA accounts notwithstanding. Secondly please revisit what vandalism actually is on wikipedia. And third content under dispute is always under the responsibility of those wishing to add it, or re-add it, to demonstrate notability. That does not seem to have been done. Banjeboi 21:26, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Harvey Milk

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Harvey Milk. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution.

You are one reversion away from violating this 3-revert ruleby exceeding 3-reverts.

This violation is particularly egregious here, where you specifically requested an Rfc for deletion or modification of a sourced NPOV section, no consensus was reached to delete the section and, rather, most appeared specifically not NOT want to delete the section.

Ahem, I'm quite aware of the 3RR rule and no, the RfC has shown no consensus to include this disputed content, ergo there is less of an "egregious" violation as you allege. Please keep your content dispute comments to the Harvey Milk talkpage. Banjeboi 05:41, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Benjiboi, what's up? Before reverting again, would you take a look at Kinsey_Reports#Kinsey_Scale? I really think it fits better there; there is so little actual written content; if it weren't for the pretty, colored table, the text would barely fill half of a page. I don't see it being possible to really flesh out the Kinsey Scale article into anything substantial, and I really do think that the audience is better served if we discuss the scale in the context of the Reports. What do you think? Please, take a look at how little content there is and consider it, OK? Thanks, Whatever404 (talk) 13:29, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate what you're stating however, in this case, Kinsey scale is a HUGE part of sexuality history, please follow merge protocols per WP:MERGE. It would seem that Kinsey scale should simply be expanded, there is no shortage of material supporting this ass a notable subject on its own. Sometime we need to look beyond what an article is and more to what it should be. Banjeboi 21:29, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

People's Temple investigation content in Harvey Milk article discussion at ANI

Hello, Benjiboi. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The discussion is about the topic Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Please Help - Editor Benjiboi Edit-Warring: repeatedly Deleting Sourced NPOV sections of Harvey Milk article. Thank you. Mosedschurte (talk)

I feel the ANI thread above this regarding your actions seems to be covering these issues adequately. Banjeboi 14:13, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you are talking about now, I didn’t even realize that the material was a duplication of what was already there. CENSEI (talk) 14:40, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate that. Even though this content is pretty much a non-issue in almost every Milk bio I've looked through, we're treating it as something much more profound. Even at only three sentences it still is a bit much. Once the article is developed more perhaps it won't stick out so much. If Moni3 takes it to FA I'm confident it will be well sorted so hopefully this will bring this to a close - I can't believe this has been going on for so long! Banjeboi 14:49, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for attempting the rescue

Thanks for working to rescue pixologist although I think in the end the article will be deleted. The work you're doing is good but the likely made-up term 'pixologist' will probably doom the article. Have you considered working on articles related to digital media? Your efforts should not be wasted! :D Rob Banzai (talk) 18:02, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I agree pixologist is problematic and think it should move to pixel artist until other terms become notable enough. My plate is too full to take on more right now but if you need specific help let me know and I'll do what I can! Banjeboi 21:21, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Visual arts AfDs

Please note Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Visual arts to list them. Ty 00:45, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Joe Sernio AfD - notices

Hi, I've asked at the AfD but, thought you might not go back there so wanted to ask here as well. What notices do you mean? I've notified the author and main contributors of the AfD but, was unaware there were other notices. Can you help me with this (I want to make sure I'm doing things right). Thanks. Jasynnash2 (talk) 12:31, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I only mean that if the article is deleted just to point them to where they can see the last version so they don't feel everything was actually erased. Banjeboi 12:33, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your Opinion is More Important than You Think Barnstar
You have strong opinions about what and how Wikipedia should look like. Excellent!!!. You are one in a million, you care about this place, its accuracy, its inclusiveness, and its comprehensiveness. Good for you! I hope your break is temporary, you are explicitly and crucially needed here to make Wikipedia a successful project. Keeper ǀ 76 22:34, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just created an new article, List of United States presidents who have committed adultery while in office, i thought you may find interest in expanding it. --Cooljuno411 (talk) 04:01, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't know what you're on about but the article, as is, and your message here both seem quite pointy. If I'm misinterpreting this please forgive me and let me know why you're directing this at me. Banjeboi 04:06, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was "directing this" towards you becuase I have noticed you are really well at creating artilces and such, that is why I was seaking your assistance to help exspand the article. The idea came from the recent John Edwards scandals, which brought about the idea of presidents who have commuted adultry while in office. The only president I personally know is Bill Clinton, but I know their were others in the past, I just don't know the specifics. But the artilce was deleted on the grounds of an "attack" or something, I think mainly because Bill Clinton was the only one listed, being that he is the only one I personally know off hand. If you are interested in restarting the artilce, feel free. --Cooljuno411 (talk) 07:07, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'll accept that. You must admit an entire article consisting of just one name really needs expanding! Banjeboi 07:14, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Transgendered"

"Transgendered" redirects to transgender, and "transgendered" appears in that article thirteen times. It may not be as nonsensical as you think. =) -- AvatarMN (talk) 07:58, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lol. Well actually it is but it certainly is perpetuated! I'm working on the links first then each use - it may take some time. Banjeboi 08:03, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd reconsider that if I were you. I think the proliferation of it is kind of evidence that you're wrong about this... Trans people and people who know about the subject are all over that article, I'm sure, and they haven't had a problem with the word. And if that's not enough, how about a dictionary for convincing you? [2] -- AvatarMN (talk) 08:53, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well that also redirects to transgender and simply offers that the -ed is a variable. If you consider the trans means across or beyond gender in this use adding that it's past tense seems peculiar. You bring up a good point though that the main article would have some editors more than happy to offer ideas. Banjeboi 09:27, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What I get from the dictionary entries is that the -ed is not necessary, but is acceptable. People use both, and it's probably misguided to hunt down the "transgendered"s and remove them on the basis that it's a nonsense word, since it's not. And kind of futile, since the word would come back, even transgender people like Lucas Silveira use it themselves. I don't think you're going to get rid of it, or have the grounds to try. I recently was convinced that "striked" was the plural of "strike" in the context of labor disputes, and went around trying to get rid of what sounded to my ears like nonsense; "struck". But I was wrong, and people told me so and opposed me. Whoops. =) -- AvatarMN (talk) 21:07, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll keep tabs on this to see if it's a big deal, I'd rather wikipedia perpetuate the one that is more correct and less confusion as gender issues area already quite perplexing to many. Banjeboi 19:39, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I weighed in on Breuner Airfield and put some sources on the AfD page. All the other articles seem reasonably safe for the moment but feel free to send up a flair if they get in trouble. Two other tricks that may help you: 1. Start an article in your userspace like User:Myheartinchile/Breuner Airfield, build it up to a debut then "move" the entire page to the final target spot. 2. When working on an article use {{in use}} which should allow other reason to leave things alone until you've finished. Banjeboi 20:39, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
