February 2015[edit]

Information icon Thank you for trying to keep Wikipedia free of vandalism. However, one or more edits you labeled as vandalism are not considered vandalism under Wikipedia policy. Wikipedia has a stricter definition of the word "vandalism" than common usage, and mislabeling edits as vandalism can discourage editors. Please read Wikipedia:NOTVAND for more information on what is and is not considered vandalism. Thank you.--John (talk) 21:19, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, they're vandalism. Barry Town People (talk) 21:21, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No, they're not vandalism. You may disgree with them, but that does not make them vandalism. Speaking of disagreement, while disagreement is essential to our work, it has to be civil disagreement. This statement is both untrue and uncivil. Repetition of this is likely to lead to a withdrawal of editing privileges. --John (talk) 09:45, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, that statement is both true and civil. There is literally nothing of substance in that entire essay, nothing at all worth taking seriously, nothing at all based on reality. Barry Town People (talk) 01:46, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

Hi again Barry Town People. I have blocked this account for 24 hours for continuing to revert edits that User:Giraffedata has made, and most especially for continuing to refer to Giraffedata's edits as 'vandalism' following my warnings about this. As an admin who has often blocked vandals, I assure you that Giraffedata's edits are not vandalism. As far as I can see these edits followed consensus, whereas yours did not. If you wish to discuss this consensus there are various avenues for you to follow. You should not continue to call edits you do not agree with 'vandalism' and you should not revert the work of others without consensus. If you wish to contest the block, you should post {{unblock|insert reason here ~~~~}} but you should read WP:GAB first. --John (talk) 21:21, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It is vandalism. If you don't understand this, then you shouldn't be an administrator. Therefore, I will continue to do what I've been doing, and since I don't consider this block binding (since it is absolutely without justification), I will not be honoring it. Have a nice day! Barry Town People (talk) 00:07, 21 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That is fine, but if you continue with this when your block expires it is likely that your next block will be indefinite. It would be great if you could instead internalise the advice you have been given and edit in line with our norms. The choice is, of course, yours. --John (talk) 00:37, 21 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I am editing in line with Wikipedia's norms. It's this block and your anti-Wikipedia demands that are in violation of it. Barry Town People (talk) 00:47, 21 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If you wish to contest the block, you should post {{unblock|insert reason here ~~~~}} but you should read WP:GAB first. If you post this an uninvolved admin will review the block. If you need help posting the template just let me know. --John (talk) 00:53, 21 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you should know that if you're going to block me for "disruptive editing," there needs to be some, you know, actual disruption. Show me this "disruption." Show me where the smooth flow of Wikipedia business has been disrupted. Show me where I've made a huge mess for others to clean up. You have literally just made up a reason to block me. Barry Town People (talk) 00:59, 21 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You seem unhappy about your block. Well then, appeal it. (The instructions are above, and they're simple.) If you appeal it, an uninvolved administrator will judge your argument on its merits. -- Hoary (talk) 01:17, 21 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No need to appeal it; I can just ignore it. I'm not the one who's in the wrong here, so it's not incumbent upon me to do extra work to fix the fuck-up. Barry Town People (talk) 01:30, 21 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
