Speedy deletion declined: AFF Football Championship squads

Hello Banana Fingers, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of AFF Football Championship squads - a page you tagged - because: Not a valid criteria. PROD or take to AfD. I can't see a CSD criteria that would fit this. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. The article 2006 AFC Challenge Cup squads is cumbersome to read.Use of collapsible tables may improve presentation. --Adi4094 (talk) 09:26, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alaba

The way I see it, he's not Filipino, he's of Filipino descent, which is different. You could argue that that makes him Filipino as a second nationality, but he's certainly not Filipino expatriate, because that suggests he's left somewhere where he's never lived. ArtVandelay13 (talk) 10:52, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough about the "Filipino expatriate" category, but he is Filipino therefore the "Filipino footballer" category should stand. It's not as if one of his grandparents or some far distant grandparent was Filipino, it's his mother that's a Filipina which makes him Filipino regardless of him being Austrian born and representing Austria. Banana Fingers (talk) 11:01, 22 April 2010 (UTC) [reply]
OK, I can accept that. ArtVandelay13 (talk) 19:54, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Villon

His name was listed at WP:Requested articles. Regards, GiantSnowman 18:24, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Only by going through the page history of Wikipedia:Requested articles/Sports and seeing who added him...probably an IP address, probably their only edit. Does it matter? He is notable, after all...GiantSnowman 18:33, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think it is able to find out the lineup of the 6 matches of Football at the 1934 Far Eastern Games? Thank you. --FootballHK (talk) 04:42, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'd like to invite you to join the www.bigsoccer.com football forum to discuss more on Asian football since you seem to have a keen interest. Hope you can join us. Best Regards. Druryfire (talk) 19:43, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Filipino Premier League and related issues

You should take this issue to WP:ANI. The IP has, although being on different IPs, violated 3RR. ANI would be a good place to sort out the broader issues because it's not obvious vandalism. Shadowjams (talk) 08:02, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Paulino Alcantara and revert issues

Hey have a look at this references and read it carefully. It says that he is Filipino and Spanish ancestry. Just wondering, why are you removing references when its valuable in this article? What's your reason. I really don't give a crap if you revert the edits, but when you revert it make sure to explain it in proper English language, alright. Thanks! http://www.world-football-legends.co.uk/alcantara.php —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.104.194.187 (talk) 12:15, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

LOL! That link you provided isn't even used as an inline citation in the article. So how did I remove it? Yes he is of Spanish and Filipino ancestry, HOWEVER, that article from the Philippine Daily Inquirer has revealed his real parentage/ancestry and that his father is Spanish and his mother is Filipina, specifically an Illongga. The reference that I removed was that article by FIFA but it only states that he is Filipino, therefore it is inaccurate. He is actually half Spanish. Banana Fingers (talk) 12:23, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just so you know, that IP and all the other 122.104.x.x IPs are banned user Orsahnses which I rangeblocked. Elockid (Talk) 15:30, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why was it moved? Yet no other article relating to it was moved, such as the 2010 AFC U-19 Championship. And why was this singled out? Was there dispute on the name of the article? If this was moved, then that would mean other articles such as the UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship would have to be moved to Union of European Football Associations Europoean Under-19 Football Championship. Banana Fingers (talk) 11:15, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please have a read at Wikipedia:Article_titles#Article_title_format, where it says # Avoid abbreviations: Abbreviations and acronyms are generally avoided unless the subject is almost exclusively known by its abbreviation (e.g. NATO and Laser). The abbreviation UK, for United Kingdom, is acceptable for use in disambiguation. If you go to the disambig for AFC, it is not readily apparent which AFC is meant. Wikipedia article titles should be clear to the reader at first glance. You're right, the rest of them should be moved as well, in addition to UEFA, though that is not as common a disambig acromym.--Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 14:42, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it is almost exclusively known by it's abbreviation. "AFC U-19 Championship" is the official name of the tournament. In terms of sport in the disambiguation page, the abbreviation "AFC" is only used for football clubs and other than that there is "AFC Enterprises". It really should be kept to the way it was. If this was really an issue, the article and similar articles would've been moved long ago. Banana Fingers (talk) 18:20, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Football at the 1995 Southeast Asian Games, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.reachinformation.com/define/Football_at_the_1995_Southeast_Asian_Games.aspx.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Philippines national football team

I am willing to admit that you made some valid points, however, that still doesn't excuse the fact that the section on players is still crap. Firstly, the lack of consistency is atrocious! On the page you link some clubs and not others even though some don't even have articles, which is beside the fact that you refuse to link players. Who cares if there isn't an article on them, part of the reason is to promote the expansion of Wikipedia so that if someone does create an article they don't have to go to other articles to make sure they're linked. As for caps, I listed your statistics and for those with question marks, which is ridiculous by the way, I tried to find info myself. Lastly, protocol for listing the players is by squad number, not by position. My intentions were not to harm the article, I only wanted to improve it because a lot of these ones on smaller national teams don't get much support. At least take my suggestions into consideration. --Spartan008 (talk) 21:49, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for not updating the caps, however, anyone involved in football squads knows that a decently made article lists players by squad number! Just look at the FIFA World Cup squads, look at how well maintained the best football teams' articles are. Take some notes.--Spartan008 (talk) 20:10, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fine

Look, I've tried to be courteous but now you're starting to get on my last nerve. Besides your condescending tone, you appear to be an insufferable know-it-all, so if you can please address me like a normal person as I have for the most part spoken to you. I'm an aesthetics type of person, if something sticks out then it doesn't look right to me hence having only one attendance appear out of four matches thus far lacks consistency. Since you obviously think you can impose your will on any article you touch, I will withdraw to my own projects and leave any Philippines related article in your capable hands. --Spartan008 (talk) 18:34, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I've admitted to being in the wrong several times during our friendly conversations so don't make me out to be some kind of horrible person. I take pride in what I contribute to Wikipedia and in no way try to undermine it. I said I would back away but apparently I hit a nerve of yours so now you're out to attack me. Just back off and we'll leave each other be. --Spartan008 (talk) 19:02, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
